Thanks Carl! It's not the best interior to detail, but I tried.

1974 Duster 'Rescue & Rehabilitate' Project 14.02.2021
mrmike replied to 1972coronet's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Years ago, I built the mismarked Plymouth Duster (actually a Dart Sport) and I wasn't sure how to build it. I built mine as a sort of drag car with a Revell 440 6 pak engine, Polar Lights Cragar SS mags, Plymouth decals and a bunch of parts from my parts box. It sits on the back of the shelf with my other models -
Thanks John! I appreciate the kind words, but I still think I'm just another hack trying to do a good job! I have not looked at the Lindberg '72 Challenger Rallye. I have read that it does leave a lot to be desired.

I decided to strip the hood since I didn't like how the primer coat went down on it. I also decided to strip the from valance panel, too. I painted the interior bucket and the interior pieces with Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black. Now for some detailing! NCIS will continue...

I clearanced the engine mount for the right exhaust header and I clearanced the left engine mount a little just for the Hell of it. I then paint detailed the mounts and the upper A arms. More NCIS to come...
-
Thanks Carl! After modifing the engine mounts, it is on to the wheels and tires.

I got the chassis and engine mostly assembled. I have to wire the engine, distributor and the ignition coil. I placed the engine in the chassis and I expected the engine mounts to interfere with the exhaust headers. Behind the right side header is a tab on the engine that is supposed to fit into the slot on the engine mount. I'll clearance the engine mount until the tab fits into the slot. More NCIS to come...

A little time spent on Gibbs '71 Challenger Hemi R/T. The front and rear suspension has been painted with Tamiya TS-29 Semi Glosss Black. I painted the exhaust system with Model Master Aluminium Spray and after a few days of drying, a coat of Model Master Acryl Semi Gloss Clear. The exhaust tips were painted with Alclad II Gloss Black Base in prep for some Alclad II Chrome. On the chassis, I added a piece of 1 1/2" wide painters tape and I'll spray directly from above some Tamiya TS-16 Yellow for overspray. More NCIS to come...

Looks great, Tony! I like the bigger tires and that it is lifted, too! -
Thanks Jacob! Good luck with your build!
-
Thanks Jeremy! I have this small pile of mixed plastic and small parts on my bench top. I found a piece of plastic about the same size as the sway bar on the AMT K member. A little glue and some patience lining the part up with the sway bar and all is good!

What Kits Were Molded in Green?

I added the front suspension to determine what clearances would be needed. Since I am using a Revell 426 Hemi, the AMT chassis would need to be clearanced for something. Something being the front of the oil pan and the oil filter. I went a little too far clearancing the K member and I removed part of the front sway bar. I'll replace it when I can find a piece of round stock the same size as the sway bar. More NCIS to come...

1971 Ford F100 Ranger Pickup

The grille was the least of my concerns. I sprayed Testors Competition Orange on the hood and roof and placed them both in the dehydrator for 18 hours. They are slightly tacky, but are, for the most part, dry. I'll leave them alone for a while and then consider my next move. -
Wow! This is an interesting subject! I have the Revell '69 Corvette Yenko kit and I was going to build it box stock, but this seems to be a different way to go!

It is good to hear from you, Stephen! So far, I have not had the pleasure of Covid-19. I am staying at home unless I have to go out food shopping or to run errands or go to appointments. At the ripe old age of 68 years young, I have been working on staying hea;thy enough for my age. I could do more, but my bad knees limit me substancially. Like you, I'm not complaining about my health, just trying to deal with what old age is giving me! Stay safe!

Thanks Mr. Randy! Poppy Red or Calypso Coral could be ordered from someone like Scalefinishes or MCW. For the hobby shop, your best bet would be to find a color that closely matches them still on the shelf. Testors/Model Master has stopped production of many automotive paints so your best bet is to find one that is close or try an autobody shop or parts store or you can order the color you want online. -
Thanks Stephen! I probably have one of the few remaining Magnum PI 308 Ferraris in existance! It wasn't a hugely popular issued kit and it hasn't been reissued that I know of. I have tried to watch the new Magnum PI, but when they destoyed the 308 Ferrari, I stopped watching. I am doing well and staying safe. I hope that you and yours are safe and well!

The Story It happened again! An older woman out for a walk at night was assaulted by an unknown assailant, but she was able to fight back and the assailant ran away. She had learned how to defend herself many years ago and she had never thought that she would ever have to use that training on anyone. The Police took a report and it was given to Detectives who are investigating the cases of attacks on older citizens in Brighton. The Build I went and painted the body and hood again with Testors Competition Orange and now they are in the dehydrator for the next 8+ hours. McNally will return... -
I have two convertibles to build as well. One in teal and one in gold and I'll do the same thing with those.

Looks great John!

This looks great! I built the same car from the custom kit and some parts from from other sources to make it stock..
