  1. Thanks guys, the encouragement is much appreciated. Richard, thats my plan, thought it was a nice contrast(Besides it would be way to hard to paint nicely on the inside lol )Also ties in to the gold lettering a bit, did you notice the shade used on the cage? similar to the earlier car I just done just trying to get it all tied in.
  2. Thanks guys, appreciate it , Made and attached the 4 link mounting brackets and all the tin work ( apart from very top of firewall)
  3. Looks like mine did after I'd played with them for a while ( that was a long time ago )
  4. As sweet as ever Tyrone, love your detailing
  5. I tend to agree with this and personally dont mind the "REVELL" "QTR MILE SPECIALS) decals that were in the street burner reissuses of the top sportsman cars (at least somethings on the tires0. But my suggestion would be at least in the case of race cars. no decals other than generic dash board type. How many of the drag kits actually get built out of the box ? I bet a fair few are brought to be donor chassis for resin bodies where there is an abundance of aftermarket decals anyway, Would you fell ripped off if you brought a generic non decaled race car to use for a doner kit? or would you prefer to get a sheet of decals you might never use? Should you pay less for a generic car or be happy to pay the same amount? In my own case, Ive brought about 12 of the revell street burner 55/57 chevys as doners I've used the tach ,gauges and seatbelt decals from them and only built 2 of the cars the only other decals used were the headlight and grilles, same with the earlier lapd drag camaros Kendall and Mad Mag funny cars. My point being apart from the most basic of decals I wouldnt care if they weren't included. I know there are others that will (first time builders or someone on a tight budget etc but for the most part ? How about you?
  6. Insane detail John, each buld you post is a lesson in building
  7. Thanks, finished up the back and other framing (I think ) also made up the front suspension (not as detailed as I would have liked but once the body's on you'll never see it anyway)
  8. very very cool and great detailing, which goes hand in hand with your great finish
  9. some of us built them . While the wheels aren't everyone's choice I quite like them and wouldnt hesitate to get more of them if I could. 10. Thanks guys. Rommel, no sweat appreciate the advice, but two problems 1st I cant find silver solder locally, most of them seem to have no idea what I'm talking about 2nd the iron I've hot is a little large its also 80 watts so it gets pretty hot, I think a little too hot. 3rd which is my fault I kinda did some of it in the wrong order so lots of little bits were attatched before they should have been. Lesson learned I hope
  11. Thanks guys , Niko I detailed the black one (2nd page of link) which is displayed with hood off. This one has the hood on so I simply didnt bother . Yes it is a great kit and fully recommend anyone who likes willys and/or gassers get at least one and build it, you wont regret it
  12. Another good build, agree the paint really makes this car
  13. nice build !!
  14. Thanks Dave, Terry both builds were/are from this issue which comes with the decals to do both the Black and Dark Blue versions . The light blue one above uses Slixx decals which have a couple of different versions on it as well for the earlier cars. Heres a link to my my Black build http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v392/awesome55/gassers/
  15. Very cool Derrick and a great job to boot
  16. Thanks guys, Terry , yes its the new revell kit, black car on box and yes the engine does look a little low compared to my black car, dont know why. Maybe I havent got the body sitting on properly so possibly it is a c ck up or maybe the olds engine does sit a little higher.
  17. Thanks Steve. Body? no idea sorry, ebay special.Motor, headers and hat from a kiwi guy doesnt cast anymore rest of motor me. Yes 25th scale. Did a bit more chassis work today still gotta do some diagonal cross bracing then its on to the rear section and the firewall
  18. Might be 4 months Terry but I've a couple of others finished and 4 more over half done, that counts for something right? Anyways done now

    Very nice builds!
  20. Thanks guys, its been a long time coming but I finally got my decals to finish it so got them on and lightly cleared. Will give them a heavier clear coat today then final assembly by the weekend all going well.
  21. Well maybe more modern than late, something I've been wanting to build for a few years, the start of my what if ......... they were still racing or coming back into racing now builds spent a couple of hours Tuesday night thinning and cleaning up the inside of the body and making the appropriate holes and a couple last night (wed) starting on the cage
  22. coming along nicely Niko, keep it up
  23. on average 15-25 most weeks. Thats averaging 3 hrs week nights and either one day or spread over both on the weekend. Depends if the must/have to get this finished for is kicking in or not.
  24. Nice job! just watch those nose decals if you're using the kit supplied, they're a bear to lay down as they are. If I could redo mine I'd cut them into three or more pieces http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v392/awesome55/Big%20Scale/
  25. I'm only six months from that so old . Hope you have a great day Rob
