  1. Thanks. I see these on eBay once in a while. Actually, I just sold a second one that I had. Maybe I should've kept it. The kit comes w/ a small set of racing decals, too. Lots of potential. It's very, very small compared to anything else in the display case.
  2. It's been fun going through the ol' display case! Here's one I built from, well...? I forgot. Anyway, it's a little Lotus, in British Racing Green.
  3. Okay, here's a question. I attempted to do white letter tires using acrylic paint. But, it didn't turn out as I'd hoped. So two questions: 1) How to remove the acrylic paint from the vinyl tires (or whatever mystery material Monogram tires are?) 2) Is there a good/decent set of transfers, decals, etc. for the Goodyear & Eagle markings? Note that the front tire is smaller than the rear. I think the rears could be done w/ decals from a Nascar kit, but the fronts.....I'm at a loss. thanks!
  4. I love it! I had one of those - a 1990 Buick w/ the 3.1 engine, I think. It would have been a horrible cop car! Excellent work - it's really cool!
  5. I (finally) finished this one late last year or early this year. It's the Revell/Monogram GMC Syclone. I suspect the fit issues you see are because of me and not a fault of the kit. Since most Syclones were black on black, I painted my silver.
  6. That's pretty cool looking! Who's going to try this one?
  7. @Ken - Wow, learn something new every day! What's a "Hugger"? Oh, and nice looking S-10 there. My Dad had a 1990(?) S-10 4.3 that he sold with well over 200,000 miles on it about 10 years ago. The man that bought it is still driving it, and has passed 300,000. As far as I know, no major work has been done to it, yet. @ Austin - If you're thinking of building this kit, it actually assembles pretty well!
  8. Here's one I built some time ago. It's been living in my display case (an old baker's display unit). Not everyone's cup o' tea, I know. But, I thought I'd share: Looks like I might have forgotten to add the headlights! Oops! I should do the trim around the windows, too.
  9. I like the variety, too! That '32 looks very, very nice.
  10. Thank you. Yes, the deck lid is a separate piece. Also, it included the up-top. Well, at least in the Pro Modeler rendition. I don't think the 1959 Revell issue, based on this kit, did include the up-top. But, I don't remember. I'll have to dig it out of the stash to verify. Anywho...I added the belts & buckles. A smattering of detail under the hood was also added, but I don't have a picture of it. Overall, I think this is one of my better builds. And, the Supreme Commander approved the color choice.
  11. How's this one going? I bet I'm not the only one here who's interested in seeing how far along you've come with this most excellent build!
  12. Stunning! Well done. Very well done!
  13. The Monogram Pro-Modeler kit from some years ago. I really enjoyed this kit, and have another in the stash. I'm thinking of building it as silver with black coves to complement this one. Most of my buildups live in a display case, but dust still seems to seep in. And the camera is certainly unforgiving of mistakes that might go a little less noticed to the casual observer! But hey, I build for fun - mostly!
  14. @Johann - these pop up on eBay from time to time. Usually for a pretty decent price, too. I have another in the stash to build the "long tail" version. I had considered going for a NASCAR-style futuristic (future past, maybe?) racer. We'll see.... and yeah - building is all about relaxing to me. If I get frustrated, I move on to another project. That may explain the unfinished pile that grows on the shelf over my work bench.
  15. @Pappy - that's funny! He looks like he needs to go!
  16. You should sell those decals! I'd be in line for a set! Very, very nice work!
  17. This fellow has been in my display case for years. So, I thought I'd share.
  18. Thanks! @Pappy - I see you're not too far from me. I'm in Durham. Got family near you. I figured I'd leave those little paint flecks there. I might try to touch up that hose and roll-bar some. I'm pretty close to being ready to move the fellow on off the bench. I hope the kit decals don't fracture on me. @Dandy - Thanks! I haven't seen too many built up, either. There's one on the Aircraft Resource Center that's stunning. It's here: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/rh/articles.php?id=6133 I don't know how he got those beautiful seams filled on the "trunks" that feed air into the radiator area. I had a lot of trouble there. I'm counting on shadows in the display case to hide this problem for me!
  19. The Revell SNAP kit of the '63 Vette. A great kit! It might be a "snapper", but it's worth your time, I think. In retrospect, I should have used a wash on the wheels and applied foil to the emblem on the fender. Hey, live & learn!
  20. On the bench currently is an Oldsmobile Aerotech. Vintage Monogram kit. Great shape, numerous fit issues (probably caused on the assembly line in my garage!) Paint is Testors Lacquer straight-from-the-can. I glued the rear deck on (it is intended to be removable). I plan (hope!) to create the panel lines with ink or paint or something. Sorry, no in-progress shots, really. I plan to keep the car as low as possible, so I think the "axles" will be glued to the wheels without using the center pieces. Kind of hard to see here. Although images I've found show a black interior, I think dark gray - or even something lighter - would have been a good idea given how dark it is. Even with the huge and clear canopy, it's quite dark in the cockpit. Of course, that would involve artistic license! The Quad-4 Engine. i hadn't noticed all of the paint that sneaked under my masks. Oh, well! It's for my display case - hardly a show model here. Thanks for looking!

    Shoebox

Great build. Now, tell us about your Lego collection.
  22. Boy, this looks great. Just a note, and I don't know if it applies in all cases, but on my Dad's S-10 Extended Cab...that hump/box thing on the back of the cab wall was in the middle and not on the passenger side. Not sure what it is, even - but thought I'd toss it out there. Again, this is some nice looking work. If you don't mind my asking, how did you extend the cab? I assume two kits? Are there pictures up of that part of the progress?
  23. This is beautiful work! Are you planning to cast this? The reason I ask is that my Dad had an S-10 just like this for years. He still talks about how he should have kept it. (4.3 with just over 300k miles on it - that was not a typo) Anywho...I tried my hand at marrying two Monogram S-10 cabs together, but my results were nowhere near as nice as what you'd doing here. So - plans to make this beauty available to us lesser folks? Keep up the great work - this thing is a beaut!
