  1. Another work of art from you John! I wanna be just like you when I grow up!
  2. Luv that lil' bugger Alyn! Awesome scratchbuilding!
  3. Another great build from you David!!!
  4. Thanks for the vote of confidence Dave! I'm thinking maybe a nice pair of headers, bobbed & detailed with lines, fittings, & linkage could serve as the manifold, then the aluminum trumpets...
  5. KEWL Gregg!
  6. Yeah, a tad big, but still useable Thanks! A little more tinkering with different rims, and a mockup with the trumpets poking thru the hood The more wheels I try, the more I keep leaning towards the Cragars I did first...
  7. Hey all you drag racing experts, are there any kit or resin Hilborn mechanical fuel injection manifolds out there that are realistic & nicely detailed, or is it best to scratchbuild? I'm wanting to put this on an early HEMI as pictured: I'll use aluminum tubing for the ram tubes, really just wondering about the manifold, even if it's for another type engine, if it's nice I think it could be easily retrofitted to the HEMI Thanks in advance!
  8. Great job Jim!!!
  9. NICE!!!
  10. Thanks Bruce! I thought about the Buick myself, but it looks smallish to me? And don't worry about hacking on a diecast, I feel that it's an easier medium than styrene in some respects, and if you screw it up, they're pretty cheap to replace anyway!
  11. Thanks for the visual Chuck! Perfect weather for sitting at the workbench in the COOL basement!
  12. Turned out GREAT!!!
  13. Lookey at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMC-Pacer-12-7-miles-original-barn-find-survivor-new-/110716785496?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19c73c1358
  14. BEAUTIFUL!!!
  15. I'm thinking early HEMI with hilborn injection, the eight trumpets poking thru the hood! It is quite a chunk of metal Rick...I measured the wheelbase (5 inches) and the quick Google search I did shows a 120" WB for the 1950 Commander, and 115" for the 1951? Didn't think they were different? So, for a '50, the diecast WB would be right on at 1/24 scale. Donor parts from my parts box seem to work well with it, maybe a Stude expert can shed a little light on this?
  16. Thanks for the pics Dave! I like the roofline on that business coupe, must...resist...urge...to modify...roof! I like this off-white street machine too, I think it needs larger rear tires though Thanks Mike!
  17. Nice!!!
  18. She's a beauty!!!
  19. Thanks Roger! R & R makes a 1950? casting...is it based off of this diecast? Can't really tell: http://cgi.ebay.com/1950-STUDEBAKER-2-DR-COUPE-1-24-1-25-SCALE-RESIN-KIT-/330588308905?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf89945a9
  20. Greg, the front wheels are from the reissued AMT Depth Charger (Aqua-Rod). Yep that works well for diecasts, but I prefer a cleaner, less dusty route...chain drilling: snap out the area: Now the hand filing, some sanding, and hardly any dust!
  21. Thanks Sully, I think it looks best with the rounded wheel openings also. Will be trying some other wheel/tire combos, the pie-crusts will be on the list for sure... I'll be picking up any other Studes I see @ Walmart, I'll get one to you if you don't find one I work at Greater PIT airport, so we're fairly close Glad you found one! I use Klean-Strip paste stripper, found at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. on all my diecasts...paint literally falls off on contact! After all reworking is done just prior to primer, I wash it down with diluted Dupont 5717S metal conditioner (phosphoric acid solution), a clean water wash to neutralize, then good old dish-soap & water.
