  1. Darin, did you get a "pre-release" kit, or is it out at some retailers???
  2. You're missing out on the swapmeet/vendor portion of these shows Chuck...I bought two different older out-of-production kits (sealed) today for $6 each!
  3. Matt, I just got back from a small IPMS show in Sharon, PA. I've never been to this one in particular, but I will go next year again. I didn't have anything completed to enter, but put the '64 pickup on the table as "display only" per the organizer's instruction. None of the IPMS shows I've been to really tailor to automotive builds all that much, but this one had a pretty impressive (compared to other IPMS shows) car and truck (civilian) turnout. As you say, it seems that they normally cater to the military/armor/aircraft builders. I know your Blazer is already a show winner, and your recently completed Olds looks to be also, so don't be discouraged by this one show... To those that may know, isn't this the main reason the NNL was formed back in the 80s???
  4. Yep, the last one I got there about a month ago.
  5. Casey, fugettabout the old warped, overpriced AMT Stude, go get a $15 Johnny Lightning at Walmart:
  6. Good luck to you Bill...your friends here will be thinking about you
  7. Looks great so far Ryan! WELCOME! Once you're hooked on this hobby, there's no turning back! One nice thing is you can build in scale what you can't afford in 1:1
  8. Can't wait to "unchop" one!
  9. I've really got to try weathering a build, some of you here are masters at it! I just have a hard time building something cleanly, only to "mess it up" with weathering but they look Sooooo cool!
  10. I like it! Oddballs are cool
  11. Very nice!
  12. Congrats!!! I only wish one of you would have told me about this and the mag years ago! I guess I was living under a rock (internet-wise) back in 2006!
  13. Steve, the LS engines are in several kits, so depending on which transmission you want, that'll determine which kit to grab. Revell '99 Siverados have a nice LS with the 4L60E auto tranny. Revell SSR has the same combo, but from different tooling! AMT and Revell '98-up Camaro/Firebird have LS/6-speed manual combos AMT and Revell '97-up Corvettes have LS V8s, but have the rear-mounted transaxle, so you'd have to source your own tranny.
  14. The two stores local to me aren't offering any discounts
  15. Nice work so far Dave!!! Will you be having this reproduced in resin when finished? Wait til Chuck Most sees this
  16. Yes Aaron, it came with the resin/diecast accessories as shown. They also did a JD version with a nice lawn tractor, different labeled versions that had service bodies, in bed toolboxes, etc. Do an eBay search for Speccast F250, they're everywhere! Sorry again for the hijack Sean...BUMP!
  17. Nice job on that rollback Sean! Not to hijack, but to show the Speccast F250...they are cheap & plentiful on eBay, in many different versions. Get one everyone & build it with Sean's cool kit!

    65 Impala ragtop

    WOW! Looks great Lee!!!
  19. Just joined Mark! Thanks for the cool site, can't wait to check it out thoroughly!
  20. Agreed...I especially like mixing the old with the new. For example, the old MPC 1968 Impalas look great in proportions, but lack detail. The newer-tool 1967 Impala bashes NICELY with them, as does the R-M '65-66s. The '65 convertible is giving up quite a few parts for my '68 convertible promo (especially the separate plated windshield frame & uptop ) to replicate my 1:1 If these "naysayer" reviewers don't want the old "crappy" kits, send 'em my way
  21. Welcome Chris!!!
  22. Peter, as usual, GREAT work!!! But, as Antonio said, that story! To quote song lyrics "nice story, tell it to readers digest!" I can relate, as my bride is an ER nurse and I hear the stories Wishing a quick recovery to Mrs. Lombardo!
