  1. Toying with the idea for bamboo bed rails....
  2. Gator I like also the idea of using the patterned laser cut paper for the visor, Was thinking about using the visor as a template then cut out the inside of the visor and add the paper inside of it. Will give that a try and update with pics.....
  3. wow that is a super work station love everything about it......
  4. Ah thanks Chuck, did not see that thread, wish I had would have not started this one that one answered all my questions including knowing now I just may pass on it.............
  5. I like the looks of the photo etch, to bad companies do not offer to sell just the photo etch, I know I know they want to sell the whole kit but would love to be able to just get the photo etch..
  6. It wont be till the end of February till I get the funds to have my local hobby shop order one but if no one has a review of it before ill let you all know then take pics and let everyone know whats in the box....
  7. thanks Jeff, I have to agree seeing the box art is way cool I have been planning on buying it since I seen it but in the past with Lindbergh some kits are good like there 61 impalas but some are to me just a good start but they could have put in some more work on them. Just was curious as to any pit falls or things to look out for, when I get it will let everyone know what the kit is like unless some one beats me to the punch.
  8. This may not be the right place for this question, however I have seen this kit online namely the round2corp website and was curious if anyone here has gotten one yet, what caught my eye was the photo etch pieces that I could use on another project and not a big fan of lindberg if the kit was worth it or just worth buying the kit for the photo etch.
  9. Gator, yeah hey that will work that sounds better as it will tie into the overall look thanks.
  10. by the way Gator is this what your talking about for the filigree paper?
  11. Gator, it does make sense, had to google filigree paper but once I did I knew what you are talking about. that would be cool, was thinking using watch parts for the brackets but may play around with the paper look first or cover the brackets with the paper, thank you for that idea I like it.....
  12. When i finally was able to cut open the shape of the sunroof the left over piece looked great as a sun visor, just was to skinny width wise so thought i would scratch one from the cot from the mpc jeep kit that was reissued since it had a slight curve in it , so now just to come up with a couple brackets to hold it to the cab!!!
  13. Erik, i like the plastic better, even with the open tubes... What color/Brand of paint did you use for the color of the bamboo?
  14. Had this in mind that I have been wanting to try for a while went to hobby lobby and couldn't find the card stock that I really had in mind, gonna go to Joann's tomorrow they have a lot more selection hoping to find something more of a tiki theme, could always print one off of line and try that.... Its a covering for the inside of the cab, door panels back of the cab...
  15. Thanks guys, im working on going smaller will update with any good results....
  16. Thank you Carl, I have decided to go with the laser cut paper for the roof, I like the delicate look of it.
  17. I thought I would share this with everyone, I am working on the freaky tiki build and wanted to model bamboo for the doors and bed but not sure how to go about it. I bought a tubing cutter and using files took the cutting edge off of it, and proceeded to use it to make the knuckle on a bamboo skewer then using a sanding stick reduce the size of the stick between the knuckles to look like bamboo, this first attempt is fine but needing to go about 50% smaller for the doors.,.
  18. You could use this technique on plastic rod as well for other scratch built items....
  19. thinking of using the bamboo to cover the doors of the cab, and line the bed with it....
  20. Been trying to figure out how to model bamboo, i can buy it on line for dioramas but wanted to give scracthbuilding a try, got a tubing cutter and ground the sharp edge off of the wheel, bought some bamboo skewers and gave it a try, the tubing cutter makes the knuckle mark then i take a small sanding stick to thin the stalk down between the cuts, I have a long way to go to sand it smoother, may chuck it up in my dremel to try sanding at high speeds if it does not break the stick...
  21. Decided on the tires too sand them down to look worn more in the front than the rear, also had an idea to maybe use for hubcaps these pieces, a mockup of the front bumper with bones, a possible lay out of the back of the cab, and how the seats would look over them.
  22. Thank you, haven't forgotten about this one just got side track by my freaky tiki build.
  23. Gator, thank you I have liked the steely look with a red rim for a rat rod for a long time, this is the first model I am building as a non lowrider so I thought I would try this look out on this kit, it comes that way in on option for the kit but I am gonna use the '62 pontiac tires and rims and that is where the lake pipes came from as well.
