Heer's a couple new pics. Since I've finished one build in the last 15 years I decided to keep this one simple. Maybe if I start 2010 with an early completion it will keep me going through the year.

Nice to hear a positive story about the younger generation! I saw the pics of his models from the meeting and was very impressed with them. I wish I could build like that when I was 13 or now for that matter.

Looks great! As a PA resident who spent most of my working life to date as a VW mechanic I dig the "Penna look". Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing it finished.

Here's a couple pics of my latest project. Not exactly sure where I'm going with it. I got inspired over the weekend to paint it and really hadn't thought much past that. Paint is krylon semi flat black and testors one coat laquer star spangled blue on the roof. I stuffed some slightly larger slicks under the back and I'm liking the slammed ride height. Not sure about the wheels yet. I like the flat hood so maybe some efi and a big turbo on the old FE?

Thanks Dave. I have to agree these are not great kits but for a simple shelf build it looks good. I have the Chevy II going together so the Tempest has something to line up against.

Another quick build to get back in the swing of things. I needed to get a few on the shelf so I felt like I accomplished something. After I finish up some small details on this nad the 64 Mustang I'm working on I think I'm ready to start on some more elaborate builds. Thanks for looking!

Here's a 64 1/2 Mustang convertible I'm building for my girlfriend. It's basically an out of box build with some parts box wheels, air cleaner, and valve covers. Hopefully this will hold her over for a little untill I find a 1:1 to build for her.

Very cool build. Nice to see something a little different. Just the kind of nice clean base model car I'd like to find in real life for my next 1:1 project.

I've been pretty busy building the last few days. I might even finish another one before the end of the year. I hope I don't burn myself out!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I needed some inspiration. I have a couple started projects that I hope to finish up soon. Look for some pics soon.

WOW! That is one fantastic build. The whole package looks great. I also have to say that is one of the best interiors I have seen. Can't wait to see what you build next!

I finally got brave enough to post some pics. This is my first completed build since I was 14. I got back into the hobby a few years ago but a busy work schedule and a few moves kept me from building. It didn't stop me from buying though LOL. Here's my 1972 Chevy fleetside pick up. Built pretty much box stock besides the wheels and tires and a few little items. Sorry for the poor pictures. I'm home sick today and low on energy. I'm a little rusty so take it easy on me.

Gotta love the sound of a good SBC. I had mine out over the weekend for the neighbors to enjoy the sound of the exhaust the smell of a little race gas. None of them complained but i have a feeling they don't love it. LOL -
Looks awesome as usual! I hope someday to be able to weather half as good as that. Your a true artist when it comes to rust!

Your Very First Real Car
RTK434 replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll have to share some current photos of my first car (I just moved and haven't unpacked the old pics yet) though it was nothing like this when I bought it. I originally purchased this car in 1996 when I turned 16. It was a 2.8 V6 automatic. I threw a loud muffler and some big tires on it for my high school ride but always had plans of something more. After I graduated the 2.8 expired so one weekend I tore the car down to a bare shell. I had no other transportation but I didn't let that stop me. I hitched a ride to work for a few days untill I found a cheap beater. After 2 years I got the camaro back on the road and it was now an 11 second car. I was thrilled to say the least. Then I got sucked into the vortex of speed. Fast forward a few years, a few motors, and a bunch of money I now have a mid 8 second car that is still street driven on nice days. Best pass to date 8.44 @ 161 in street trim on drag radials. Sorry for the long post but I've worked so hard to build this car I can talk about it for days. Here it is in cruiser mode with the parachute off. Cops don't like the chute blocking the license plate. LOL At the track. Big wheelstand not the best for ET but looks cool for a picture. This landing was expensive!!! -
Great build. Gotta love a fast station wagon!!!!

They look killer. I would be interested in a few sets.

I can't believe its been a year already. My model time has been really limited this year with buying a new house so I'm extra excited for the show. I hope the rest of the week goes as fast as the summer has. If all goes well I should have my hobby room done by the end of the month so I can start working on the stuff I'm sure to purchase sunday.

Nice build Dave! I'm a big fan of weathered models and junkers. You do really great work! -
This will be my first time attending. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll just be there for the day on saturday since I live within a couple hours.

Here's my daily driver. 1989 VW Jetta GLI 16 valve helios blue My weekend toy. 1985 Camaro with a few mods. Car is still registered and street driven.

I agree old VW's and Fuchs are a perfect match.

Just wondering if anyone on here has built it. Looking for info on what color blue paint you used. I usually make up paint schemes on models but I wanna do this one as it was. My other question is about the tires. Did you use the kit ones or find replacements? I'm a little concerned with painting the white tires and getting the right look but I don't wanna loose the old shool look of the sidewalls. Any info would be appreciated.

Looks good. The ride height is perfect. I may have to pick up one of these kits for myself. I work on 1:1 VW's all day at work I guess I should build some small ones at home.
