  1. thanks for your replies, I will check into the engine clear....didn't see any but I was not looking either
  2. hmm , never tried Urethane before. I don't use those soft paints either, I agree with you. I wonder if some Krylon clear I have would work on it? I am not looking to go to any great lengths here, I just might clear the paint and polish it out a little. The paint it'self "etched" on me so I am wanting to smooth it out a bit. I can polish the paint....but I don't want to rub through.
  3. I was hoping someone here has used this paint on a model. If so...did you clear coat it? I used it years ago and cleared it with Dupli Color Acrylic Lacquer, but it wrinkled up on me...yea I know it's because of the enamel vs. lacquer.....but back then I didn't. Now I want to know if there is a clear that I can put over it without ruining it. TIA
  4. Not exactly sure, you might ask him on that. I do know that he has support coming from a couple other guys that puts him at the "half way mark". He did tell me a figure, but I don't have permission to say and don't want to step on toes.
  5. I talked to Keven after I saw an email about his possible closing up. I emailed him and the rest is history.... He has basically seen what the economy has done and it's hurt his business. "Not many orders in the last 3 months" .... "my printer is down and I can't afford to get it fixed"....."I need some orders to come in so I can get it back up".... which are some of the things he said. Since he uses an Alps printer, they do some of the finest work in decal making. The thing is, he has to ship it over seas and it's not cheap to do so. His is under warranty, so it's the shipping costs that are hindering him. Check his site, let him know what you think.....most of all support him if you can and help him get the printer fixed so he can stay open. (by ordering , you are helping him get it done) I hate the way the economy is affecting us all. Since this is our precious past time....our hobby, we can't let it die off slowly. Once after market guys drop off....we are stuck with nothing but the kits we have and the kits we can find , even what little after market we will be able to find. Time to stimulate our hobby! Stop by, I am sure he has decals for everyone. Keven has been in business 3 years, let's help him stay in it for many more. (click on image of car to see decal sheet, nice art work!) http://www.whoopiekatdecals.com/ Just doing my part to see that we don't lose another one.
  6. wow! excellent build! I have not seen many stretch/jobs that look that clean!
  7. nice work pancho! paint is slick! LDC might dig it
  8. thanks for all the comp's! I am glad you liked it!
  9. I guess I didn't read that well enough....
  10. Well, I got so sick of looking at thing that I finished it!
  11. I find it exciting because it's a new kit. It's not completely like the old MPC obviously. It's nice to see a new body '57 , new decals and options too! There is a lot of hype about it...I am on a couple lists that tons of emails about that kit are flooding me with. I don't have one yet, but I am looking forward to it....even if it happens to look more 1/24 than 1/25. It's kinda the same reason I like the Revell '58 and '55 Chevies....the doors don't open on the '58 which is a PLUS in my book. To each his own I guess. Revell is doing an excellent job with new tools and options! I also think AMT/MPC is doing very well in bringing some interesting repop's and new options for those.
  12. I will look for that new improved stuff. For now, I have a couple of perfect sheets. The only time it's ever ripped or cracked on me , is if there is a crease or wrinkle in it. I have seen other guys sheet's on occasion and they are all wrinkled up....they gripe about how hard it is to use too. I tell them "yep, if it's wrinkled....it's going to rip". It seems like a lot of guys don't realize they have to put it away where it won't get trampled by anyone or anything. I store mine on top of whatever is available and never set anything on it. I hear some guys put their's in the fridge.
  13. Yep, I have said it many times......he is a great person to deal with and the product is nice to boot!
  14. I found it yesterday at Walgreen's. Nice article! The photos are very cool,I love seeing old kits.
  15. Have a good day! Now...how old are you? hehe
  16. very nice Irv! emblems really set it off in that paint!
  17. welcome Dave! that's a really nice '59! You will see there are many TRaK guys on here.
  18. maybe the friction from sanding heating up the sealer under the chrome plate?
  19. Well I looked today, no luck. Maybe they don't carry it at the stores I was at or they are sold out.
  20. I would love to see it, but have never heard of the magazine. I will check stands tomorrow, maybe I will find one.
  21. I don't normally visit the other forum, but I saw a post on here that got me curious. *This may have already been announced) The post was from back in December 2008 I had no idea about this happening, and only thought it was necessary because his model is being showcased right now. I ran into a thread from the RPM president in Minnesota that announced we lost another modeler. Steve Cote age 55, was an amazing modeler and a kind person. I only met him last year at NNL North when I was taking photos of his Dodge Stratus funny car. (is on the cover of MCM #139 Contest Issue) I feel honored to have met him and to have handled that car, it was top notch as they come! I am sorry to be the person to bring the news.....I only just ran into it by chance. From what Don said, he was killed in a car accident after hitting some ice. Rest in Peace Steve Cote
  22. why...thank you Jeff! My wife was so impressed (made me feel so dorky), that she took it to work and showed it off to her boss and co-workers! She works in a multi-million dollar establishment....so I was expecting them to laugh at her....but they didn't, her boss took the magazine and showed EVERYONE else! Goes to show, we modelers don't have to be rich to impress anyone HAHA!
  23. some cool builds there! I recognize several, but would like to see more of some others too!
