  1. I don't have much to really say except, I am glad we have NNL's. I have judged and ran a judges contest. It was all fun and a learning experience for sure. I won't ever run a judged contest again, only because it takes so much work....and work is no fun. (not to mention, too serious) As for GSL....I have heard it's the almighty of all nit picking....but I have seen cars in person that won awards there which would fail at small local contests. I am not sure what to think of that.
  2. wassup with the Bentley? this show reminds me so much of 1992. wow... thanks for sharing!
  3. It's always nice to get to know a person a little better. This makes me wonder what we would all find out about each other if we went into this kind of detail? I am afraid a lot of lies would be told though I don't talk about this kind of stuff because when I do....people start to think I am full of it , or am just bragging. Neither is true.
  4. good thing you guys quoted all those pics , saying something like "your caprice" would be a little more work.
  5. My goal was to make it this year for the first time....but unfortunately it's not in the cards. I am going to be looking forward to all the pics though! Maybe it will work out next year for me. Have fun guys! ( and I know you will )
  6. That's fantastic work! I know this body is made in resin and have pondered getting one myself. I won't be going into as much detail as he did though lol I saw the 1:1 last summer and took pics of it. It's definately one to appreciate! EDIT: I stopped by your fotki and looked at the pics more. This is really great work! I didn't understand at first that it was "Jerry" that built the car, tell him he did outstanding work!
  7. all top notch builds! that barber shop rod is something nobody has! I have seen pics of the real one, great work!
  8. hey Don! glad to see you finally made it over here. There is quite a bit going and I am sure your builds will be appreciated, so post em' up!
  9. Bryce, you know I love it! I was showing it off to some guys last night in chat. One pointed out the body was too high.....I was like UGH....this guy doesn't build hot rods and doesn't know the real car very well. I had to find pics of the 1:1 just to prove the body sat higher than the grille shell like your model does. I bet there are some who thought the same thing and afraid to say it. I wanted to post a pic of the real one so they can see the same angle on the rad supports etc.... AWESOME BUILD!
  10. It just wouldn't be right if I didn't compliment this sexy beauty on every board I see it on! You know I love it and I didn't tell ya.....but it's my desktop wallpaper now!
  11. Here ya go. The links to them are in the middle of the page if you scroll down a little. Here is a direct link to the beginning of the hoods section. http://www.dragcitycasting.com/index_files/Page381.html
  12. That's great thanks George!
  13. Have you had this problem? Sorry I am not sure what you meant. I know that Ed has never done that.
  14. That's the spirit! I have not finished any of this yet But I am serious when I say it's tops and soo nice! I had one of his '62 Galaxie's but I too was in need and pawned it off. I am going to get another one though! 60 Ranchwagon-needs foiled and finished I also have his Willys pickup kit and it's not getting built until I have time to full detail because it's worth it! I have several of his hoods and some other parts that he cast from his dad's molds. (was lucky to get) Never waiting more than 3-4 days to get my stuff either.
  15. How do we save it? Yeah.. we have the plastic companies still pulling through, even if it's minimal. We all have so much stuff to build it's ridiculous in most cases. Many of us can't afford to buy new kits coming out..just yet. I know many of us, including myself are looking into moving and downsizing to save money. Times are tough, no doubt! On the other side of the coin, we have friends and small business owners who care about this hobby and try to provide a nice line of desirables so they can turn a buck to make a living and also because they like to see their stuff built....it's a pride thing. Yep, we all know there are guys selling stuff for high prices....either they don't care about the hobby or they are doing it to try and stay alive in this mess. I am standing on my soap box and believe me it's pretty much covered in dust as I don't use it often. We know all of the facts above. Clearly there are more important things to pay for than models, but we HAVE to do something to help our friends stay afloat who have spent countless hours in making the items we can purchase. These times have hit one of our own members "Drag City Casting" in the shorts where it counts! I will not go into many tearful descriptions for you.. This is not a guilt trip. I just get tired of seeing guys like Ed Fluck go out of business. Ed is a good person. He has always been fair, fast and honest..even more than generous with all who have purchased from him. He is not one of the guys that you read about on other boards with complaints like "theif or takes too long".....he is one of the best in quality and customer service. I am campaigning here folks! If we don't help Ed, he is going to close up and all of which he offers and is in the makes of offering will be severed from us. Not only will the resin be gone, but a part of this hobby goes with it. What will REALLY bug me? If he closes up, the word will spread around and everyone will be saying how sorry they are to hear it and wish they could have done something......NOW IS THE TIME....before it gets that far! Ed didn't ask me to do this. I talk to him often and know much more than I am telling you. I just can't sit here and not try to help. The best I can do to help his business is in the works. Now I leave it up to you to check his web site and see if there is anything you would like to have. I will stand by his product. I have had peices from almost all the casters and his is definately one of the top 3 for quality and he is FAST shipping! www.dragcitycasting.com PS...I know that many of us could use a boost right now, so just take this post for what it is. thanks
  16. this is the part I like. I might use this on a build since I had thought of it a few times after seeing "Atomic Punk". I would probably do a roadster with mine and it would not be a rat rod though. Nice work on the rear caddy portion.
  17. I still have decals in an envelope with a note somewhere that a buyer sent back because they were too small for his 1:1 truck. He didn't want a refund , but was mad because I didn't put in the auction they were for models. He paid $7 for them and if they were real decals would have cost more than $200.00. I was just looking for them to scan with the note, but no idea where I put them.
  18. Though it may not be the case, I know of a lot of guys that will buy something for a little more on there just to avoid waiting for an order or because they don't have the form of payment some sites prefer. I sold a resin kit on ebay awhile back for something like $190 and only paid 53bucks for it. ( I was shocked) I am not mad ...
  19. I also love the old stuff. I like your build so far. Are those 7.0 Firestones? I dig em'!
  20. I would like to be there, maybe next year though. Send lot's of pics!
  21. I am impressed! The attention to detail and parts to even have the right looking tires and decals , just right! Not any everyday model, great work!
  22. really nice! I had one awhile back, but ended up trading it off. I still want another , they make GREAT 60's cruisers.
  23. he's still around. I see his progress a few times a week when he posts on the dpmcc forums. not sure what he is up to though.
  24. that's NICE! very 60's there, love it!
