What would you rather...
RodBurNeR replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will build a kit as long as it's a vehicle that I think is cool. I am also pretty stiff on scales, some cars I won't build in 1/16 or 1/24....my main preference is 1/25. Some cars are only made 1/24 so I will build them anyways. If it's a large scale model, it has to have potential to please my eye and be fun or interesting. Brands don't matter to me, but I build mostly AMT,SMP,MPC,REVELL and MONOGRAM on occassion. Trumpeter and Galaxie kits have also made their way into my stash happily! Resin is another story....I will take a POS resin kit if it's the only one to get of that subject. I can make it better with some work. -
the '55 is slick!

love the paint job, it's sharp Tom!

I look forward to seeing this one! I watched it pull when I was little and also built the model when I was a kid. I know mine was horrible, so I hope to see this one done.

Benefits of a paint booth?
RodBurNeR replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Among the things like being able to paint all year around.... The biggest plus in my book especially if you have doors on it, is to let the parts sit where you painted them until they cure. My booth was given to me by my buddy Steve Kohler , so I got lucky. It has doors that I can see through and a roof with a glass top so I have plenty of lighting and can see everything while painting. I really like being able to leave everything there so I am not carrying it around trying to put it up high while curing! Just carrying a body around is about impossible to keep the paint free of debris. Okay back to the plus.... I don't get any dust, hair or lint in my paint jobs. I turn the booth on before painting or putting anything in it to suck any particals out before hand. I clean the booth after about 10 uses with a vac to remove overspray and possible spider webs. Like mentioned above, the fumes being sucked out as fast as you spray them is a huge plus! My wife used to complain when I bring a body back in the house after spraying outside or in garage.....she always smelled the paint. It was a pain to paint because she would make it a point to let me know how much she loved it. Basically , anything you can think of that would be an inconvenience....automatically becomes a convenience. You can't go wrong by getting one. If you make one, make sure you get a sealed fan so it doesn't cause a fire. In my opinion, you should also put doors on to keep unwanted stuff out while it cures. OH...I almost forgot! I get my paint to cure faster with the booth! I shut the doors and leave the fans on for about 10 minutes and it speeds up the curing process! -
got the missing parts today thanks to Casey! body will be out of stripper for 3rd time later today. I am contemplating the opening of doors, but not sure yet.

How about some inspiration?
RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Casey, the parts arrived today thanks a TON! I am starting to feel much better about this build now that it's pretty much complete. The parts look un-used, I hope you didn't ruin a kit on my behalf. thanks again! -
I got an order today and it's perfect as always! I never have to wait for every long and the product I am "used to" by now...I don't need to see photos to know it's going to be top notch! thread started, never posted in the drag models section before. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18315 -
I got into a challenge again with 9 other guys from Omaha. At the show Sunday, we all bought a POS for under $5 to put in the pot. We all drew numbers after the show and pictures were taken of each build. Whatever number you drew, you ended up with that model. The rules are to rebuild it to "nice as you can" from a POS glue bomb, built up/junker. You may not like what you end up with, but the rules are rules.... I ended up with a '70 Plymouth GTX and NO am sorry, but I am not a muscle car guy....but I have built some before. here is what I have to work with.... MISSING dash board, steering wheel- one on the way! MISSING air grabber from hood-one on the way! MISSING 3 wheels- who cares MISSING engine-coming up with one THIS ONE IS GOING DRAG RACING! *this is in the stripper right now* Bringing out the Bob Dudek beauties! Will be redoing this tire, but was trying it out....never used these before.

Great work guys! I know he appreciates the orders. Not just because we are friends, but because it's the truth..... Not many will email you when the payment arrives or when the order is in the mail. It's all done in just a few days of receiving payment. I just ordered some stuff after begging my wife haha! '62 Galaxie body door handles, window cranks and arm rests 61 sunliner uptop I know from past experience, the product will be nice. Crispy is right, Ed has been selling or at least listing a lot of stuff on emodelcars, don't be scared!
