  1. Tim... I admire your dedication and attention to the detail of little things like this. adding those bolts to the bead-lock just sets it off. This build continues to get better and better with each update. I can't wait to see this as a rolling chassis...lol
  2. Uh oh... Tyrone is at it again. I love it man. This is going to be an awesome build. You are off to an awesome start so far. I can't wait to see more
  3. Tim... Oh my Goodness.... I just wet myself. That seat looks killer. I love how you did the carbon fiber and how the pattern changes from the seated portion to the sides. You can see how the grain switches directions from the separate pieces. Man this is so sweet!! Keep up the great work!! I can't wait to hear about your new Sherline Lathe and would love to see it set up....
  4. Tyrone... Loving the updates. Man do those Bull Horns make this build wicked and nasty. I love the shot from the front, Looks totally mean!! Glad to see you getting some bench time in.
  5. John.... This is another one of your outstanding builds. You hit this one out of the park for sure. I have to add to what Brad said.... you are always amazing me with your builds. Love it man. Gotta say I love the Mooneyes logo you put on the side's Totally cool. I can't wait to see your famous outside shots at my favorite picture place of yours. I can't wait to see what you build next!!
  6. The tape is just holding the body together... lol
  7. Well just another quick update. I have started on Hacking up the body. Although I didn't get very far because I was questioning myself on how much I need to shorten the width by...lol So I am thinking I may chop and shorten the length prior to shortening the width. Here are a few shots to show my progress.... I started with my trusty razor saw to do the cutting. I need to trim the bottom off of the body: Here is a shot so you can see what parts were removed: Here is both sides cut and trimmed: Here is a shot from the top. I need to removed the gap between the body and frame. Body needs to be narrowed: Shot from the front: From the rear: And a Side view, of which the top needs to be chopped:
  8. Niko... Its great to see you back here my friend. I am sure you have been having a blast playing with your 1:1 stuff. I am looking forward to seeing what you are going to do to this build. Its going to be a neat build for sure.
  9. This is totally cool and a great looking build.
  10. Brad... Hey Brother... Sorry to hear that you are having some medical issues. I will be praying that they figure out whats going on and that you can heal up quick. Sure miss seeing your impressive work around here.
  11. Clayton... Thank you very much. Its one of the reason's I love this site so much is being able to learn from everyone here as well as share my work. I am already starting to dream up my next project... well that's probably a lie, I should of said next 2 or 3 lol. Joe... Thanks buddy I appreciate the kind words. That's good that you will be getting back to the Nomad. Tim... What can I say but thank you. I really appreciate the kind words from you. It is actually really fun working with Brass. Although my fingers are sore from holding the tubing and notching it with a file. I am already thinking about making some kind of tubing notcher and designing it up in Solidworks which will work for 1/16" OD tubing up to 3/16" and possibly bigger. John... Thanks Brother. I do appreciate your kind word. Heck your Alclad work will make mine like a 5 year old painted it. I think I am at a point where I may start hacking the body up and getting it Narrowed, Chopped, Shortened and even possibly Sectioned... Or not sure if I should start the leaf springs and I-Beam Front Axle.... lol. So stay tuned
  12. Here is the floor pan again. I went and drilled all of the holes for the mounting bolts and then went back and transfer drilled the holes into the frame. I wanted to get them drilled and mounted before I solder the roll cage in place since I would not be able to get the pin vise in to do the drilling. Here is an up-close shot of the bolts. I decided to use button heads for these: Here is the whole chassis together with the roll cage in place, still not soldered at this point: Another view
  13. Ok Fellas, so I have gotten some more work done on this chassis. I have started with getting some of the shackles for the front leaf springs fabricated as well as getting the steering shaft support and some more work to the floor pan. Here is the beginning of the shackles. I had a little bit of a pain in the butt getting them aligned properly prior to soldering them in place: Here is the other set: Another view: Here is the steering shaft support:
  14. Danno... Why Thank you. I think I am a little hack with brass at the moment and am no metal master...lol I am learning a lot from this build and hopefully I can improve my skills in working with brass. As far as the funny car goes... I am thinking about jumping back on it tomorrow and getting some well deserved progress made on it. Ray... Thank you very much. Oh man I couldn't agree more that its tricky getting all the pieces to clamp correct before soldering. I think I have spend more time getting it set up and then when I start to solder it moves on me, so I have put the solder iron done reset it up and try again. I know I have wasted many hours in set up time. I also learned the hard way where I was adding a piece and heating things up a little to much only to have had some shifted in a few other pieces that I had to go back and fix...
  15. Joe... hows this one coming along buddy?? Any new updates to share with us?
  16. John... Holy Smokes my brother!!! That update is Bad A$$!!! my friend. It really has come together!! It is so awesome to see the rolling chassis together. You have done an outstanding job on this whole build.
  17. Big John.... That is out of this world. I love the update Brother. Those curtains are awesome in the windows. What did you use for them? Looks like it was some sort of material that you rolled up. I really liked how they turned out. Those side pieces for the back look awesome too love the buckles on them.
  18. John... WOW buddy... what an update that thing looks fantastic. Not sure what my favorite part is because I love the whole thing. I have a long ways to go to catch up...lol
  19. Scott... Thank you very much my friend. Harry... Thank you. Well I needed a couple pieces from a kit and that's it......
  20. John.... Holy Smokes Buddy!!!! This is a freaking awesome update and as usual your updates are always very impressive. I am digging the colors and seeing everything together. I have to be honest that I think once you add the black trim that it is going to "POP" even more. I can't wait to see it. Keep up the awesome work!!
  21. Dave... Thank you so much buddy. I appreciate it.
  22. Art... Thank you. I am happy with the progress. Brent... Thank you very much. I am enjoying working with the Brass so far. I still enjoy working with styrene as well. I am trying to learn to not to use too much solder on joints so there is minimal clean up. Using some liquid flux has helped with that. Although holding the tubing and notching it with a file is a little bit of a pain in the butt at times and I would like to come up with a miniature tubing notcher to make that process a little easier...lol. The chassis seems pretty strong and it has been fun challenging myself by using the brass.
  23. On Vinyl tires you need to use an acrylic paint. its the only thing that I found that would actually dry. I would even trying washing the tires with some dawn prior to painting as well.
  24. John... Thanks brother!!! LOL I think you should be having wet dreams from something other than this build... lol Clayton... Thank you very much. The cage was a bit of a pain in the butt and it gave me a few hurdles where some of it took me more time to do or thought but I will admit that I am happy with it now. Bob... Thank you. It was quite fun to do this chassis in brass and looking forward to the next build that I will do an all brass chassis for. Although I still have a few more things that I need to add for this chassis. Joe... Thank you. It was definitely a new challenge for me to use brass for the whole chassis. it was fun but I know I would like to hone my soldering skills some more. Brad... Thank you my friend. I gotta admit that chassis seems pretty strong. Although I haven't soldered the cage to the main frame yet. I need to drill some holds in the floor pan and into the cross brasses of the frame since I realized that I won't be able to have access to do so once the roll cage is in place.
