This is one cool build and I am digging it so far. Nice work on this.

Ray... very nice build so far. The thing looks great and I am totally digging the color you went with. As far as BMF goes my advice is to use a brand new xacto blade each time for a build. In reality I like to use a new razor blade. I had a buddy back home that did it this way and his BMF was some of the best I have seen applied.

Scott... thank you very much. The rivets shouldn't be too bad to do. I will transfer drill the holes from the the body that I already did. I will be working on this soon hopefully. Would like to get it knocked out so I can start blocking the body out and getting it reqdy for paint. -

Hey Fellas... I totally forgot that I took some video of the machining process and I meant to post it along with the pics. Here are a few videos for you to check out.... Here is a short video that is cutting the slots. You will see the top template holding down the pieces being cut: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mooneyzs/media/Plastic%20Models/1974%20Vega%20Army%20Funny%20Car/DP-Army-Vega%207393_zpsyjaa9anx.mp4.html?sort=3&o=0 Here is the first pass for the profile of the outside of the window: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mooneyzs/media/Plastic%20Models/1974%20Vega%20Army%20Funny%20Car/DP-Army-Vega%207394_zpsrnkta1nk.mp4.html?sort=3&o=1 Here was I believe the 2nd to last past of cutting the profile out: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mooneyzs/media/Plastic%20Models/1974%20Vega%20Army%20Funny%20Car/DP-Army-Vega%207395_zpshgqk840f.mp4.html?sort=3&o=2 -

Dave... thank you. You are welcome for sharing. John.. thanks brother. That made my day. Mike... thanks but please don't quit. I have learned so much from all of the amazing builders here and if mybsriff helps others learn as well that is a bonus -
Mark.. This build is incredible and looking great. I love all the weathering you are doing. I really need to try that on a build sometime. It sure is awesome

I like this and am totally digging this build. I didn't have a clue Flinstone made one of these. Looking forward to more.

Paul... I think maybe John accidentally ate one of his minions by chance... lol Micheal... Thanks. yeah I wish I had the 3 Grand to go buy the Sherline machines that I want for home. I feel lucky that a couple of the guys at work don't mind helping me machine a few parts here and there. I had designed the fire bottle and it was turned on a CNC lathe as well. Bob... I bet the part could of been laser cut. Although I would not know what company I could of went to for that. One of my other original ideas was to have this window 3D printed to see how it turned out but I am glad I just had these machined first because of how well they turned out. The co worker that helped me yesterday is supposed to run a bunch more for me tomorrow as I wanted extra. I figured since the set up time took a while which was longer than actually machining the parts. the parts took about an hour to run and it made 4 parts by stacking material up on each other and He will either double or triple the material stack up this time. Art... Thanks buddy. Tim.. Thanks my friend. I wish I could take all of the credit for machining them but I can't...lol. Joe... Get it right. I think those sheets cost me only $2.70 a pop.... hahaha. Yea I figured that if the guys don't mind I will try to have them do some stuff here and there for me. Heck I just need to draw the stuff in Solidworks and give them a parasolid of the 3D model and he can program it in the CNC program they use to create the tool paths to cut the material. Ok Fellas... I am going to go and see how many Rivets I can cut in a hour. Man I have been dreading this part of the build, I think its why I didn't do any work yesterday or today so far on it. -
Fabrizio... This thing turned out Killer. I love how creative you were with this build and it was so fun to watch this on come together. I think Its one Helluva Build. I am still blown away by your talent to be so creative. As I mention in another post you remind me a lot of John Teresi and how you guys can think out of the box and come up with completely cool builds. Here are a few suggestions for the name of this build.... Plowing Peter Peter the Plower Tilling Tom Tom the Tiller Don't forget his side kick... "Bacon" The Surfing Pig

Alan.... Thank you very much. I though for sure when you said its Official... that you were gonna say I need Meds or I need to be locked up in a padded room.... hahaha -
Brad... That there is some freaking awesome work.I have to give you credit doing all of this in 1/25th scale. I don't know if I could do detail like that to them anymore after working on bigger stuff...lol

Brad... Thank you my friend. I am not sure which I like best at the moment. The Brass one is .010" thick and the Aluminum is .016" When I go drill the rivets out I think the aluminum will be much easier to drill but the brass is probably more correct for a scale thickness. Here is a shot of the real back window Danno... Thank you buddy!!! John... What can I say my friend... I don't think I have ever gotten the "WOW" factor from you. Umm I don't think anyone has ever crapped a twinkie looking at my stuff Clayton... Thank you. You are right having those proper tools helps as well. I feel sorta lucky that the guys at work were willing to help me out with this. No way I could of machined this on my own. Bob... Thank you very much. I know this was going an extra mile or two. I could of made the panel out of plastic but no way in the world would I of gotten the slots to all match. Ray... Thank you man!! I think its pretty cool in my book. -

This may of been the 2nd to last pass it made for the profile: Here are the completed parts after pulling them off of the machine: Here I laid the part on the window. I intentionally made the part just a tad bigger than the opening so that I can sand the edges of the window and get it to have a nice fit onto the body: Here is a better shot of how the finish looked. As you can see in these two pics the part needs to be deburred and cleaned up, which will be an easy task with a sanding stick: -

Ok Fellas.... I wanna show you what I have been up today. I feel I got some awesome work done on this today even though it may not look like much It was a huge hurdle and a big accomplishment. I was able to get the back window fabricated, which helps me be another step closer to get the body work and paint done now. I went into work today and had one of our Machinist from our tooling department help me fabricate the parts. One of the other Machinist's programmed the tooling path for the part earlier this week for me. It was a fun time seeing this come together and it took a little while. I was there from 5:30 am this morning and didn't leave until around 11:30 am or so. There is about 6 hours worth of work here. It took a while to set the machine up. Having to machine the fab table with dowel pins so we could bank the material in and then we had to fabricate a hold down clamp, which was the same size as the part since we were stacking up a few .010" and .016" thick material. Alright let me get to some of the pics I will share with ya. Here is the CNC Machine at my work that we will be using to make the part: Here is the part programmed into the CNC machine: Here the Machinist was setting up his X0 and Y0 of the part: Here we are machining the slots of the cover plate that will hold down the material when we go to cut it later. This was made out of 1/16" thick Aluminum: Here is a shot of the slots completed on the cover plate. Now you can see in the corner slots that there are some holes. We will tap those and add bolts to be able to clap the material down and help it so it doesn't vibrate and they will be used when the outer profile of the window is cut: Here we are actually starting to fab the parts. We have stacked 2 pieces of .016" thick Aluminum and 2 pieces of .010 Brass on top of one another by going Aluminum, Brass, Aluminum Brass. We also are just cutting the holes for the hold down bolts. You will see in the pic following this one: So here is the cover plate that we first made to hold down the material. The cover plate was held down with 4-40 screws and when the slots that had to be machined with the bolts we took the bolt out to do that one spot: Here the machine was cutting the slots out: Getting a little farther here: Here is the machine cutting the first pass of the profile out of the window: -
