  1. Here is a couple of mine. That could possibly fool someone.
  2. Ok Fellas as I mentioned I was going to get a couple of pics up to show some progress so here goes.... Well this one is actually a rework picture...lol.... SO originally the cross bar on this front body support structure was glued with super glue and while I was sanding it for primer.... well I broke it. So I thought let me solder it back together and try to use some alligator clips as heat sinks so I wouldn't undo all of the other joints that were soldered. IT worked like a charm. I forgot to take pics of it when it was done before I sprayed primer on it: Here are all of the body support structures in primer. I need to do some minor body work on them to fill some pin holes and stuff like that. so I will get them fixed and some more primer on them so I can get them in paint: I have to apologize for the next two pictures because they didn't turn out worth a darn. I couldn't get the camera to focus on what I wanted. But here is the blower with the bolts on the front and rear plates:
  3. Paul... thanks for the reminder on the blower studs... I have a nit n stud simulated bolt from scale hardware I was thinking of using for it. I do have a individual threaded rod and flange nut from tuner model factory that I may see if it will work but I may not have room for the flange nut on the blower. Thats great news to hear you got the usb.
  4. Seth.. thak you very much. Well Fellas... I got some work done on this over the weekend. I pulled the engine oit of the chassis, all of the body supports out of the body, prepped them for primer and got the first coat of primer on the body supports. The primer revealed that I need to do a lite bit of body work on them before I can put some color to them. I then decided to work on the blower by drilling out the holes for the bolts since the paint had built up in them. Got them drilled and installed the socket head cap screws. Now I just need to tack them in with a little glue. Then I started to go back to work on the body tin work. I have really beem dreading this but I know the work will be worth it when done. I first need to drill out all of the holes for the rivets again on the tins to open the holes up from the build up of paint. Then I need to cut and trim close to 200 rivets. That is the part that is going to be the pain in the butt. Once all the rivets are trimmed I can shoot the semi gloss clear over the tins and then glue in all of the rivets. I think the rivets may test my patience just a little...lol I will have to post a few pics of the body support structures in primer and the bolts on the blower when I get home from work today.
  5. Looks like I may have to pick this book up. I wonder of the Baylands Fremont Raceway from Fremont California is in there. That was the home track for the Top Alcohol Dragster my family was part of the pit crew from the mid 70's to the mid 80's
  6. Brad... Sounds good buddy. you can call when you have time.
  7. Pat... I am totally impressed by the Bare Metal Foil trick you did there. That looks awesome and gives it a killer look. I may have to give it a try sometime. Awesome Job on this.
  8. what is that stuff? never heard of it before
  9. That dude needs some wheelie bars to go along with learning not lock his breaks up on his dry hops... lol
  10. Brad... you are funny... Hey are you around today. if you are I will have to give you a call later. got a couple of questions for you.
  11. Mike... Thank you. Scott... I really appreciate the kind works my friend. Dave... Thank you sir. Martin... I really appreciate the kind words. thank you. Ray... Thank you. Danny... Thank you Dave... Thanks Randy D.... My Good ole buddy pal... lol I really wish I could learn some soldering techniques from you. Actually to see you solder in person. Gene... Thank you very much. Lee... Thank you. What can I say. I keep trying to push that bar for myself. It would be really neat to be able to show Don Prudhomme this build when its done but there won't be any markers coming close to this body...hahaha Tim... Thank you so much for the kind words. I guess I am trying to out do myself by adding those little extra touches I don't think I can do. Ray... Thank you. Well Fellas... I am hoping to get a little work done on this. I know I have been a little slow at getting some progress pics up. Stay tuned and I will have some more updates soon.
  12. Tim... nice work on the updated bars. I Admire your dedication to redo do these to make them right in your eyes... you know I would of done the same. Thank you for also the info to look up the plating kit. I realized that I was looking at the nickle plated baths kits and the process you used was the brush plating system. I am going to compare the two and possibly try one in the near future.
  13. Tim... thank you for the info on the plating. I checked their website and I couldnt find a kit for 49.99. I found an electroless nickle system for 149.99 which i believe you hest up the bath to a certain temp and then you place your parts in for a certain amount of time. Anyway I have to tell you that you are starting to be like me redoing parts... lol. I admire that attention to make things right. But I can totally relate when we see something we arent 100% happy with and want to make it right. Keep up the great work.
  14. Ok Tyrone.... I have two words for you.... BAD A$$!!! This is one killer build my friend. Dang it is so sweet.
  15. Tim... That Has to be the best wheelie bar I have seen. If I didn't know this was a model I would of swore it was the real thing. It still get me that Here I am doing what I am doing on a 1/16th scale build and the level of detail you are achieving on this 1/25th scale just blows me away. I truly love it. Hey I gotta ask again what was the Nickle plating kit that you got to do your stuff?? I have been thinking about may be get getting a kit and trying it myself...lol After getting my latch done I may have to plate it now..haha.
  16. Fabrizio.... This is such a cool build. I see this coming together now. At first I was having trouble figuring out what it was until you told us then I had to look that tractor up and still didn't get vision until now. You are reminding me a lot of John Teresi who can look a pic and create something to look just like a picture. You are an artist and have some extreme talent. I love your work. I am still blown away at the fact you are making this out of paper products... LMAO. Again Awesome Job buddy and I can't wait until your next update.
  17. Brad.... those wheels are gorgeous and they look sharp. Its great to see you back on this one or I am hoping you are jumping back on it.
  18. You need to look into RB Motion... Robert does alot of stuff for F1 cars Plus you won't get any better A/N fittings from anyone other than him. His parts are the best in the business. Also as for aBraided Line goes... Pro Tech hands down is the best and very compatible with RB Motion fittings. A few other aftermarket companies for F1 stuff would have to be Studio 27, strada sports and top studio.
  19. Art... thank you buddy! Danno.. thank you Ace... thanks man. I really appreciate the kind words. Bob... thank you. Feels good to havr this part done. Now I cam start prepping the body support structures for paint. Brad... thank you my friend. I didnt know if I should of made the threded part on the inside of the body. Versus doing it right at the handle like I did.. I am starting to rethink my idea and may make a 2nd one now... hmm what to do. I know it wouldnt hurt to do a 2nd one and it would be easy enough since I have the sizes correct at this point. I need to give you a call this week if that's cool. Hakan... thank you Gabe... I really appreciate the kind words. Thank you.
  20. Morning Fellas... I re-uploaded the 2nd video this morning and it went thru... go figure. Anyway I am running late for work, so I will respond to you guys later. Here are the links to both videos again.... Video #1 http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mooneyzs/media/Plastic%20Models/Model%20Videos/Body%20Latch%20-1_zpsb3gt6p3f.mp4.html?sort=3&o=1 Video #2 http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mooneyzs/media/Plastic%20Models/Model%20Videos/Body%20Latch-2_zps0l16nofp.mp4.html?sort=3&o=0
  21. Bernard... cool dragster... its looking good.
  22. Joe... That is some awesome work on the body. You sure make it look easy. I have to agree with Michael that this body is totally cool. I am really glad to see you stick with the Charlie Alan theme because it is totally cool.
  23. Here is a close up of the parts: Here is the latch set up installed: Here is how the spring sits in the body: Here is the pull handle. It actually threads on to the main shaft of the latch:
  24. Alright Fellas... as promised here are pics of the pieces and how I made this latch up..... I still don't get why that other video hasn't been approved but when it is done I will post it as well. Here was the start of the "J" Hook. I first started with the template I made from some styrene since it was easier to cut and form. As you can see I had to make a couple before I was happy with it. Once I found that the third one from the left worked, I then copied it over to a piece of .016" thick piece of aluminum and cut it out with my dremel and sanded it to shape with a sanding stick and round file: From there I started to make the Rod End that was going to attach to the J hook. I took some 3/64" OD tubing since the 1/32" OD tubing was the size of the man tube. I crimped the tubing down and shaped and drill the mounting hole into it and then soldered it to the 1/32" tube: I then used a photoetch washer which was going to be the resting point for the spring and then I also drilled out the 1/32 tube so I could slid in piece of threaded rod. As you can see from the top piece, I drilled thru the wall and had to redo the tube. I had soldered the threaded rod into place: Here are all of the pieces that I had used to make these parts. A few pieces in the pic were test parts:
  25. Tim... Thank you my friend. I wanted people to see it function and how it worked. I still haven't a clue as to why the 2nd video hasn't been approved yet. I took it from another angle to show the same functionality. John... Thanks my big brother. You are more than welcome on the video. I just wished the video would of had the actual latch in focus...lol Paul... Thank you Clayton... Thanks man. Yeah I wish that drag racing was on but it wasn't so I was watching the Nascar race while working on this today. Joe... Thank you buddy. I am not sure if I have seen anyone do a latch like this before or not.... You probably did see a minon behind the fuel pump. I was able to sneak one of Johns away by telling him I would cook him Brats boiled in beer... lol Michael... Thank you. I am pretty happy with how it turned out all though I need to do some very minor tweaking on it.
