Art... I am thinking that you may of said something to me about that at GSL and I forgot. Very cool. Learn on it and then get the sherline down the road.

Henry J Twin Turbo - Didn't see that coming..........
Mooneyzs replied to Codi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Tim... I personally Shoot PPG Urethane Automotive clear over my decals. I used to use PPG Concept 2020 but they no longer make it and I believe its called Concept 2021 now but I would recommend PPG's Omni Plus MC161 Urethane Clear. I bought some of that recently and it lays down just as nice as my Concept 2020. I spray this all thru my air brush and mini HVLP detail guns. if you want I can post a pic here of my 1/16 FED that I shot clear over the decals. Now I don't have any C/F decals on this build. But if you take a look at Clay Kemps 1/16th scale Pro Mod Mustang, I know he did the beautiful C/F work on the injector hat and I want to say it was sprayed with PPG clear as well. Don't quote me on it but I am pretty positive that's what it was. -

Randy D..... At first I Was going to say you need to stop showing pictures of the real 1:1 parts until I saw your finger in the pic. 2nd I had to pick my chin up off the floor with the amazing detail you have done with the pedal assembly. You Know I was really starting to think I was crazy with some of the detail I Am trying to accomplish on my funny car. Then I see what you are doing on a smaller scale vehicle and have realized that I think that Thin Air in Colorado has gotten to you.... or maybe it's what is floating around in the air there.... :D LMAO In all honesty you know how much I respect you as a builder and I have really enjoyed getting to hang out at the shows with you. I love your work. Lookong forward to your next update. -

Where did you find a 1/16th scale impala?? -
I wanted to let everyone know that Matija aka PowerPlant is a great guy to trade with. I couldnt of been happier with the trade. I know he was concerned that something happened to the package and I kept thinking that it was just taking longer than normal to go thru customs. I would be more than happy to trade again in the future. Also the communication between us was great. Thank you again for a gteat trading experience.

Ray... thank you so much my friend. You are right we are our own worst critics. Everyone... I apologize I haven't gotten any updates on this in a while. I have made a plan of somethings I am going to be working on since I got back from GSL and in the mean time I have developed an Idea on how I am going to make the back window piece with the louvers/slots in it for the bodu. I had my parents come into town this weekend and are visiting for the week. So I may not get much bench time in but was going to try to squeeze a little in Bench time if I could but no promises. Anyways stay tu ned and I will have udates soon -

Tim... first off iam glad to hear your surgery went well and I hope the recovery period is a speedy one. By the looks of the new bracket you made I dont think the surgery has held you back. I am so impressed with the new machined bracket. It is very impressive and i am at a loss of words to say. You are one talented man for sure. Looking forward to the next update. Thank you for also sharing your plating process with us -
1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Mooneyzs replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Bob... Thank you very much. Its much appreciated. I started to tinker with the funny car last night and hopefully tomorrow I will start to tear the mock up down of the funny car so I can get back to work on it and start getting progress pics up. I have already been working out an idea on how I am going to do the back louvered window. It's another small hurdle to get the body work completed. Tim... Thank you so much. Hopefully you will be able to make it out to the next GSL, It's a show that needs to be on everyone list to go to at least once. The Dragster was the 1/16th scale FED that was painted purple with a checkerboard. Clay.... Thank you my friend. The GSL show was so much fun and I think the best part of it was meeting all of new people I got to meet. Those memories will last. Thanks again for going thru all of this thread again. I know there are many pages to go thru. I did encounter quite a few problems but I also learned a lot so far with this build that I will take with me on my future ones. The chassis definitely had its moments and now I can just about kick myself in the butt for not just scratch building the whole chassis when I tore it down to move the engine forward. I should of just went ahead and made it all new but now that is painted its staying painted...lol I will scratch build the next chassis for sure....lol. I am really looking forward to jumping back on this one and I have a few more things I need to design up for the engine and have 3D printed and I can't wait to start getting wiring and braided line and A/N fittings installed. I can't wait to see what more of it will look like on the engine. I am sure it will be an awesome feeling too see it, just like when I had the chassis mocked up the first time after it was painted. I felt that I hit a huge milestone there and when I was finally able to get the first primer coat on the body and not see the white plastic anymore....lol I am shooting to have this build done by the end of the year and I will have to try and make it out to the NNL that you attend. I would love to meet you and see your Gorgeous builds in person. -
John... Wow Brother... I can't thank you enough for taking pics at your famous Picture location. It's an honor to have you take them there. I know you were saying you were going to reveal a secret project soon and I didn't know it was going to be this. I was thinking it was going to be the next kit you are going to build. Thank you so much man!! Clayton... Thank you. Danno... I can't stop laughing. I think that picture broke Johns iphone.... LOL Art... Sad thing was that was taken before the awards.... haha Fabrizio... I think you need to market the scale smoke by packaging that stuffing in a little bag...lol my dog has torn up a fair share of his toys and I never thought to use the stuffing for something like that, it definitely added a totally cool affect. Again I really enjoyed all of your builds.
-
John... Thanks Buddy.... Danno... LMAO Wonder if anyone can figure the question out....
-
Mark... I wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting you at the GSL and seeing this beauty of a build in person. IT definitely deserved all the awards it took home. I also enjoyed chatting with you. I can't wait to see what your next big build will be.

Tim.... That Drive line is insane and looks great. That is one impressive piece of work and you killed it!! By the way I wanted to ask you what are you using for the nickel plating is a at home do it yourself that you heat the material to a certain temp or are you having to use Anodes. Reason I ask is that Greg Nichols who won best of show at the GSL in 2013, he did a seminiar on how he build that car and he explained the nickle plating that he did on the parts he made. They looked goreous -

Art... Thank you so much, I appreciate it. i has so much fun hanging out with you as well. I am so glad I finally got to experience the GSL for the first time. I am already looking forward to the next. Joe... thank you my friend. It was great to see you again as well and had fun hanging out with you. I still stand besides what I have said before that i do not think my builds deserved the awards because I thought there were many better builds on that table than what I brought. It's time for me to dust off my hobby bench and get back to work on this funny car tonight. -

Brad... I told Tom hi for you and I have to tell you. You need to go to the next one. It's got to be one of the best shows to attend. Danno.... Thank you my friend. As I mentioned before, I am still in disbelief about things. I honestly thought there were many other builds in that class that were way better than those two builds of mine and other cars deserved the awards over mine. This show had so much talent from many wonderful builders and I was completely surprised that the judges even noticed my stuff. -
I just wanted to let everyone know that I moving the pics I posted from the folder it was in... into a GSL folder I created. I was a dumb dumb and uploaded them to the wrong folder last night. SO if by chance the link it weird for a moment hang tight and I update the link when all photos are moved. Ok Everyone.... the files have been moved and looks like it is working on my end when I have double checked to make sure I have the correct link. If you have any issues just let me know. Ace.... I have to tell you it was an absolute pleasure meeting you and getting to talk for a while. Thank for showing me that carbon fiber hood out in the sunlight. I loved the look and how you tinted it. That was a very nice build and I look forward to more of your stuff. Simon.... It was awesome meeting you as well. You guy's from Puerto Rico have got some great skills. Your builds were just awesome. I don't think I can't miss the next one and am hooked...lol. I had a great time and GSL didn't disappoint by any means. I was so impressed with the show. Danno.... Thank you my friend. I have to say I am still in disbelief that a couple of my builds got awards because as I told you and many others I thought there were many more better builds on that table in the Competition Straight line class that deserved it over mine. Vince... It was a pleasure to meet you as well. and I can't agree with you more that its the People that made the show for me. That is going to stick more with me than any of the trophies Fabrizio... I really enjoyed meeting you as well. Your builds were incredible and had some very cool subject matters. I have to agree with you that I have to go back in 2017 too....lol. Time to make a list of builds and get on them so I have new material to bring for it too...haha

Hello All..... I just got back from the GSL and what a Show it was. It was my very first time attending the GSL which I have seen in model magazines for years. There was so much talent that show up and the quality of the builds were Amazing. I would like to say a big thank you to Mark Gustavson and His entire crew that put this show on for us modelers. I had the pleasure to meet many of what I want to call Legends in our wonderful hobby. I was reminded by one that they are model builders just like the rest of us. I don't want to mention any names because I don't want to leave anyone out and I know I would because the list of names are way too long that I had the pleasure of meeting. I had a blast getting to talk to and meet everyone one I did. I do want to tell anyone who has ever though of going the GSL or never has been, You need to go and experience it for your self at least once. You will not be disappointed. I am hooked and I will be back at the next one for sure. You will get the chance to meet a lot great people. Anyway I wanted to share all of the pics that I took while I was at the show. Please forgive me if any are not in focus and if I missed some builds. I know on saturday many more builds rolled in and I tried to get as much as I could. I didn't do anything other than downloading all of the pics off my camera and get them uploaded to my photobucket account There are 900 pics here and I hope you guys enjoy. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mooneyzs/library/Plastic%20Model%20Shows/GSL%20Model%20Show%202015?sort=9&page=1 its best to sort them by file name and is the order they were taken. Guys please forgive me I thought I had uploaded them to the GSL folder I created but I put them in my base plastic model shows folder. I tried to move all of the photos but wasn't able to to that folder. Anyway all of them are just of the GSL there. Everyone please post links to your pics here as well. I updated with a New link to the correct folder now
