  1. Wow Michael! I think it looks great! My first car was a Dodge Dart and it was very close if not this exact color. One can't have too many Mopar models!
  2. Ahhh! He makes GREAT laced wires! Just got a set from him not long ago, for a Heller Jag E-Type that's awaiting a resto. His are about a realistic looking as it gets as he's using actual wire and not PE.
  3. Curt, that is beautiful! I've got this kit too and while it's complete (I think), I was going to part it out to make a '61 Zagato trans kit I have. But after seeing yours, now I've definitely got second thoughts!
  4. OK! BIG thanks to Mike Chernecki about Plamoz's new 3D printed 10 spoke Shelby wheels! I just sent them an order to get 'em and when they come in, I'll mount 'em on the tires I'm going to use. You can check 'em out here. Mike, I sent you a PM...........
  5. Dave, you gotta wonder about newbies though that see something (might be a gift for a friend or relative), and they jump at the "great price" and free shipping. The scammers know that, so while us out here in the fringe get what they're doing, it's those that are new (I include those that could be new here on the board too), that you have to worry a little about. There must be a certain percentage that they're counting on to fall for the nonsense, otherwise they wouldn't keep on trying.
  6. Love the engine details Dann! Please DON'T toss it! That's too nice to just let it go! Izzat a D-Type Jag I see alongside it?? That's lookin' good too!
  7. Still no pics on this end......... EDIT: OK, I see them now! BEAUTIFUL!!
  8. The seller you guys are talking about is here. Frank, that auction (ended) for the Chrysler 300 is right here. Not long ago, I got a 1967 Dart GT conversion set from them............very good as it was cleanly cast with no pinholes or deformities.
  9. Emmanuel, Photobucket has struck! They won't let you link pics here unless you pay their ransom ($400 per year! )! You can upload your pics here to the site directly from your PC if you want...........I'd love to see the Ford!
  10. You're welcome Tim! Doug, I thought that there would be more AMC's than what I saw show up. I've been there in past years, and there were a lot more. Some others may have shown up later, but they had their own section for AMC's and just not that many were there unfortunately.
  11. I won't list them here, but I've just run across a BUNCH of other auctions by this joker. No doubt it's the same guy, just using different account handles. eBay REALLY needs to start clamping down on this BS. Someone unfortunately is going to get wiped out financially if they're not on their toes. I can almost bet that if you "buy" something from them, they might have a way of hijacking your account, and then you're really in a world of hurt!
  12. .............And they just won't stop! 1961 Plymouth Fury with "free shipping".
  13. What's weird is that one of the models that got deleted by eBay coming from that Chinese seller, still showed up this morning on my "Ending Soon" list! Of course when you click on the listing..........POOF! eBay tells you that the item has been removed, or is "no longer available" Frank, I swear people like that stare at the ceiling at midnight, banging their knuckles against the headboard, wondering how to beat folks like us out of our money. Incredible!
  14. Doug, you might not need to get a Johan bumper to correct the AMT body. One can make the "splits 'n' bends" in the AMT one to correct it. If you've got extras excellent! But not everyone does and sometimes just getting separate parts for those old Johan kits is like pulling teeth. I'm curious as to your take on how you fixed AMT's bad body. This is beating a dead horse, but why they keep missing the mark on body lines is frustrating to me, and in this day and age with CAD systems and all, they should be spot on. Shouldn't they??
  15. Aaaaah! Lookin' good! I was just talking about this very conversion the other day on another board and how it could be done. By Jove you've gone on and done it!
  16. I haven't forgotten or neglected this one! I went through a bit of a modeling slump a few months ago, that's when I decided to rescue a neglected old build to pull out of the slump, and then went on to make the 3D printed '58 Plymouth 318 Poly Head engine. Well, things are getting back to normal with me, so I've got some new progress on the Green Hornet. The engine has since been painted and is now getting detailed. I want to try and get this as close to the 1:1 as possible, but I understand with scale limitations (and my own) that's not going to be totally possible. Here's what's up so far................ Got the engine painted in the correct Ford Blue. I like to put things like this in the dehydrator to let the paint get thoroughly dry. A lot of handling this'll get as there's quite a bit of detail that'll be done. Tranny now painted too------Polly Scale Engine Black I used for this. Since this was an experimental electronic fuel injected engine, I needed to make the individual injectors that the Green Hornet's engine has. I just took some wire insulation and made eight separate "T's". CA glue was used for this. On the bottom end of the T, I put in a stem of .020 bead wire in which the bottom ends will feed into the intake manifold. So that I can figure out which one goes into which port with the spacing I had figured out (l want all the injectors to be of the same height), I arranged them on a 3x5 card and taped them on with some double sided tape. Sometimes I get ahead of myself and forget to take pics of what I'm doing, but as you see here, I got the engine all wired up now with the injectors and fuel runners all installed. The runners were painted with those Molotow silver paint markers..............good stuff! Take note of the injector's very tiny brass nuts on each end (from Small Parts and Hardware). Now it's on to the tedious part of making separate pulleys, brackets, and attaching all of this to the engine! OK, now it's on to the fun stuff! (Almost..........) Thanks for lookin'!
  17. Did just that recently! I originally built this 30 years ago, and when I was in a modeling slump a little while back, I decided to take a bit of a "break" and restore this. It's a 1963 Porsche 356 B Coupe which was part of Fujimi's Enthusiast Model series. Practically took it all apart, cleaned up the body and gave it a good wax job, redid the engine wiring (it was totally wrong), and spiffed up the wheels. Now it sits in a nice case where no dust (or cats) can get to it, and I got to rescue a model that otherwise might have been tossed. The original build (rebuild) thread is here..... I've got some others I want to rescue down the road............quite a few as a matter of fact, but they weren't all built by me. There aren't enough hours in the day!
  18. LOL! I couldn't let that one go Tom! It's the first one of those I've seen around ANYWHERE for a loooooong time! Not a bad price, but heaven knows how it runs, and more so what type of parts it'll need down the road-----------some of which are unobtainium by now!
  19. Just got back a bit ago from the Chryslers at Carlisle show which is held each year at their fairgrounds here in PA. LOTS and LOTS of MOPARS of every type, and there's just so much to be seen, I just took pics of what caught my fancy. Very unusual combination.........I should have taken a pic of the placard for the info on this! I've never seen this color combo, and I now have to wonder if this was a special order, or just someone wanting to be different with their Superbird? Hey a birth year Imperial! Couldn't resist this one! Very nice (and unusual) Dodge Wagon! More to see here.......use the roll feature if you'd like, and I'm sure there's more than a few modeling ideas!
  20. Yes, I know. I'm saying however it can be done when there's no other option available. We're not talking about two different gens of bodies ('56 as opposed to a '58), there's still enough of a similarity that if one wanted to convert the '56 Del Ray sedan into a hardtop, it can be kitbashed with some work. How far one wants to go with this is up to them, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Revell to make one.
  21. If it were me, I'd take the '56 Chevy Del Ray, and kitbash it with the roof from Revell's '55 (new tool) to make a 210 hardtop. The old tool Monogram '56 Hardtop is too wonky looking to my eyes. It's almost as if they did the car from memory and not actual scaled plans. Why Revell's ignored doing a proper '56 Chevy hardtop is beyond me------it's certainly a natural given the tooling!
  22. Well thanks for the invite Dan! I'll have to see how things go between now and then, but I'd love to head out that way!
  23. Well, if we're going to talk about cars of our youth (birth year cars might be a good thread ), I guess I'm stuck on '50's through the '70's stuff. '50's cars were the first cars I can remember seeing on the streets when I first knew what a car was (early '60's). By the time I was in high school (mid '70's) '60's cars were still everywhere, and of course I can remember the newest of the new from back then. Hmmm............I might start such a thread down the road, 'cept I only have one '61 car built............a Cadillac!
  24. Just as a little aside, I've been noticing lately when I go to various car shows, more and more vehicles from the '70's and '80's are starting to pop up. Some might sniff at there's not anything collectible from those years, but you wouldn't know that from what I see showing up. People thought the same thing about '55-'57 Chevy's I'm sure in the early '60's.............back then they were "just another car", but now of course very collectible. So I'm sure it'll be just a matter of time before you'll begin to see stuff from the '90's make a showing too. And no, they ain't all gonna be Mustangs, Camaros, and Firebirds some are thinking!
