I want to say that I find posting pics from Fotki, is a MUCH more user friendly effort than Photobucket! No kerfutzing around with HTML codes, or whatnot. Just copy the image, paste it here, and you're all set!

Mike, if you right click on the pic in Fotki, you'll see in the window "Copy Image". Click that, and either paste it in your text window here, or do a "Control V"------the pic should show up.

Wow!! Not necessarily my kind of car, but I LIKE it! Your engine detailing is top notch! Not always an easy task as it's a bit crowded in there!

Tom, the board lets one know the last time someone visited according to their IP addy. It says on his profile that he's not visited the site at all since February 11th. I have to believe if he's not been here in that long of a time, he's no longer interested in the board. OR.................he's visiting and never signing in. I know of a couple that do that--------they lurk but never post.

Keep an eye on the WIP threads and posts made My66S55 (Doug Craig). He's the one that'll be offering the 3D printed 318 Poly Head engines, particularly after a few more kinks are worked out. I've got just a little bit to go yet on getting some things done on my copy, and hopefully by the weekend she'll be all detailed and done. At least that's my hope as I'm off till the 10th!

That '65 AWB Coronet would have been a BIG seller no doubt! With all the anticipation of Moebius's Satellite, there are certainly guys wanting to build one. Who knows--------if things continue to go well with Moebius and their kit sales, we may see that one yet.

Excellent work on those rear fender flares! That's a clever idea to cut out the side marker lights first, and then fair them back in to keep the original shape. I'll be watching this one! I still haven't quite warmed up to the latest 'Vette even though it's a very nice car. Something about it seems off, and I think it's the loss of the round taillights as you mentioned. I can almost bet that they'll be round again someday!

Timothy, the only advise I can give you in regards to clear color painting is that you have to work slowly and patiently. Meaning it'll take very light multiple coats to get the desired effect. Putting the clear paint on too quickly and too heavy causes the underlying coats to "run", and not allowing enough time for those underlying coats to dry is what's causing the "drawing away" problem. You might need to wait for a coupla three minutes between each coat to minimize the problem. I'd practice a bit on something scrap till you get the hang of it. Candy/clear paints can be tough to do, but with patience it can be done. Hope this helps!

Bruce if you're testing to see how your pic appears on the board.........it's mighty tiny! Looks cool though!

Steve, your '64 is looking good. It may be a bit late to mention this..........on GM 1961-64 B bodies, the doors should swing outwards as they were still using a gooseneck hinge for those. I don't think GM switched to inward turning doors till '67-------but those years I mentioned they were still using the platform from '59, and their doors swung outwards (outside the fenders). Here's a pic of a couple of '61's I have on hand showing how they open................ I can certainly understand if you don't want to change up at this point-----It's coming along nicely and the paint is very nice!

That is one scene in the movie where I cringe each time I see it! I'll be watching this one though as your idea is very interesting and unique! Still kills me though that one of my favorite cars of the '50's gets trashed like that so badly! And not just that one, if I remember the story correctly, of all the 17 that were built for the movie, only two were running at the end. Or so I've heard..................

Nope......scratch that. Just typed in the URL to them and they're still in business. Unless someone else bought the site and domain name, I'm quite sure that was them that went belly up years ago. What an uproar that made back then!

Tom, would that have been DotPhoto? I seem to remember a 'net photo site along the lines of that name back in those days. I remember back in the "Hobby Heaven" days (2002-03) there was a real big stink made about them going under which took a lot of pics along with them.

With this move by PB, unfortunately they may well go belly up before the year is over. I have to admit I cringe at times when someone has a link to a bunch of pics to a show or something and it's to Photobucket. The ads are terrible and I swear something from that site got into my laptop and caused it to reboot. I've had no problems since then as I ran scans to try and clean things up. I stand by using Fotki for all my linking/hosting of pics. No drama from them as far as pricing, although they too no longer offer a "free" account as far as linking pics is concerned. For $25 a year, I can live with that though.

Great tip Richard! The only problem I have with it is that I'm sure I'll get reeeeallll strange looks from folks wondering why I'm searching for and buying pantyhose!

Those Silhouette custom front fenders came in real handy when I built this many years ago......... I built this way back in the early '90's-------long before kits started to show up. My favorite cartoon of the '60's and when I first saw those fenders in my Silhouette kit, the idea for a Mach 5 immediately came to mind!

Richard, the problem isn't with the windscreen per se, it's that AMT messed up and didn't model in more real estate around the frame itself. Take a look at this pic here...................note the slight overhang on the roof header............. A you can see, there should be more sheet metal around the frame supporting the glass, as it should fit from the outside the way AMT intended, but made a goof. You can either mold the glass larger, or take some plastic and build up the A pillars and header to hold the glass. Hope this helps!

OK, I noticed that I have the valve covers on the wrong sides! No worries though.............they're only attached with Elmer's White Glue so when the time comes, rest assured they'll be where they're supposed to be.

Tell me about it! Sometimes I'll buy a kit simply because I just like the car. Like many others here on the board, I have many more models than I'll ever have years to build------a lot of them will simply outlive me!

Frank, I have that kit but haven't built it yet. Prices can be all over the map for one of these on eBay. I've seen them ask for as much as $90 for one------I got mine for less than $40. Sealed and all! Someone on the board built one of these a little while back here on the board. It wasn't stock------IIRC it was done as a road racer and was VERY nice!

I went ahead and painted the engine block silver, and while that was drying and set aside, I decided to get started on the carburetors. As you all know I can't leave well enough alone and like to add my own small little details to bring things more to "life". In this case, I want to add linkage detail, and as you can see here, I added a very tiny PE piece for the linkage actuator for the secondary carb. There's a tiny plastic spacer behind the PE piece so that it'll be a bit more lined up with the other linkage. That's a 0.8mm rivet holding things in place.............. I covered the bottom portion the block with Parafilm. This will be handled many, many times before it's all done, and I don't want paint wearing away particularly in visible areas........drives me crazy! With the work on the carbs and other things, handling of the block will be a constant throughout the build. I did the same to the primary carb (the rearmost one) and added the same linkage as the secondary. The carbs for the time being are in mockup position........some shaving and sanding will be needed to get them to be a bit more even and parallel to each other. Here in this pic the carbs are a bit more even as I did sand the bottoms a bit. BTW, Doug printed the carbs in three sections just like the 1:1! There's lower middle and upper sections which gives the carbs a more 3D appearance as you can look down inside and see the throats of 'em. After some fussing with various types of gold paint, I settled on some old Floquil Bright Gold for the valve covers and air cleaners. After I let them sit in the dehydrator overnight, I clearcoated them with Tamiya clear acrylic and once again set them in the dehydrator to sit overnight to COMPLETELY dry. The insides of the air cleaners needed hogged out a bit so they sit on the carbs a bit better. I just used my variable speed Dremel Moto-Tool to do this. OK, a mockup of what you see here. I'm using white glue for the time being to get a sense of clearances for the eventual placement in the '58 Fury. Just to be nosy, I got out the '58 Plymouth body just to see how it's going to look so far. I have to say, it's looking like I hoped it would and much better than the lump RC2 gives you! I can tell you that I'm going to have to play around with the motor mounts and certainly make sure the air cleaners fall below the hood/fender line so there's no problem with the hood opening and closing. What's next on the agenda? I'll airbrush the carbs in somewhat of a platinum color, make a fuel filter, get the fuel lines in place, among other things. I don't go back to work till the 10th so hopefully I can even get this all done this week certainly before I go back to work next Monday! Thanks for following along!

David, I have that '68 Firebird kit and I can tell you firsthand there's no rear spoiler in it. Both of the new Revell '67 Camaro kits (regular and "Nickey" 427) have the spoiler. Since the cars in 1:1 had the same basic shapes, in scale you could get the rear wing to fit with some tweaking. As Mike said '68 Firebirds had no option for a spoiler from the factory, but you could always make yours a "Day Two" car. Hope this helps!

Pinterest is pretty cool! I've used them for searching for references for different cars. One of the reasons I like Fotki is that when I do a WIP here for instance, I compose pretty much what's posted there, here. Kinda like an online diary of sorts.

Put a couple drops of dishwashing liquid (I like Dawn) in the water, as that will help things further by keeping the pads from getting too clogged up.
