Well, that makes the choice easier, flatbed for this one and the fendered one the tanker.

You're welcome, Rick, and sometimes those little goofs turn out for the better in the long run! I'm looking forward to the flatbed, too, I've been throwing around the idea of scratchbuilding a 48' spread axle for a while now. You're also quite welcome for the CBP, that was my goal from the start, just to get some trucks out of the box and on the road, and for us to have fun doing it!

Those are both looking nice so far, Rick. Your Kenworth is the AMT kit with the long frame, right? I figured out the long frame in that kit was from the older issues of the race truck haulers, and AMT just reissued them without the hauler body.

That's looking nice so far, Josh. It's nice to see you finally found the best model car forum on the web, too! Welcome aboard.

Yes Chris, Jerry is a menber here, he goes by the screenname phoneguy. -
I personally like both, Joe. I think you need to find another 30s era car like that for you to do both!
-
Yeah, I think my friend posted it somewhere here, but I can't remember where! EDIT:Yep, found it in the "Other Models" section! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36583

I have you added Brian.

Well Cranky, I hope this one gets you cranked up! First off, this is not my build, a friend of mine built this. He doesn't post here as much as I do, he just doesn't have much spare time, so I'm helping him out. He built this probably about 15 years ago after watching "The Road Warrior" and finding one of his Testors Chezoom quickbuilders he was looking for an idea for and a NATO weapons pack he had won at a show, and some added bits from his parts box. He calls it "Road Killer", I call it a solution to rush hour traffic!

Thanks Winston, I was thinking that, too. ACME platemaker is one of my favorite sites! I'm glad everyone likes the "Wide Turn" sign, that actually came about from another builder in the CBP this is in making that comment, and I found a site where you can make your own safety signs, and you see how my mind works at about 3AM!

You should have seen what that did to Dennis Gage's handlebar mustache when it was profiled on Speed's "My Classic Car"!
-
I'm going to watch this for sure! I love those wheels, Alan does some great work. One question, are you leaving a two wheel or adding a powered front axle for a 4x4?
-
I've seen it and even thought of buying it for one of my "rainy day" builds. I think my mind has been made up!

1/20 peterbuilt 359
highway replied to gray07's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I hate to be the bearer of bad news Shelly, but there are no 1/20 scale trailer kits produced that I know of. The only scales scales even close are old Monogram 1/16 scale trucks, but you will pay an arm and a leg for even just the flatbed trailer kit they had, since they have been long out of production, or a 1/25 scale, but either way, they won't match very well. The only other thing I could think of close would be maybe check Walmart, Target, etc. or even Tractor Supply Co. if you have one close to you and see what they might have in the line of toys. I know the Tractor Supply store here has trucks in their Christmas toy department that look to be close to maybe 1/18 scale, but in the way of kits, I think you are out of luck. The only other suggestion I could give you if you want a trailer behind a Pete 359 like that without scratchbuilding a trailer for the 1/20 scale is get one of Revell's 1/25 scale Pete 359s. I see them all the time at my local Michael's for about $25 and if you have their 40% off coupon, you'd probably be able to get one for around $15. They are based off an old Monogram snap kit, go together easliy, and make a nice truck when built. It would also be much easier to find a trailer for. This is one that I have in progress. -

Yep, I agree! Wait, what was C.R.S. again?!?! -
I like that idea Leo. I already had the plans of the back two tanks being for water storage for the sleeper, why not share it with the cargo, too! I have to keep that in mind when I do a slight rebuild of this after the CBP, because there will be a few details I want added to this I just don't have time to build before the end of the CBP.

Thanks guys, I haven't had much time to get more finished on it yet, with the exception of some chrome paint on the fenders, which actually turned out very nice. No pics of them yet, but I'm hope to have some more in the next day or two. The deadline for the build got pushed to Dec. 5, so I have a few extra days! I was starting to wonder if I'd get it finished or not! Oh, and Scott, thanks for the idea, now I have to find another one of these kits!! Since my 1:1 dually is named "Lil' Red", I could build another monster like this and call it "Big Red" and have the model of the 1:1 dually with it!!

The white probably didn't appear because the paper may have not been paper with a white carrier. If I do remember those Testors decal kits correctly, they only came with clear decal paper. Since most all home printers don't print white, the white areas will be clear unless you have a paper with a white carrier.

Mack Superliner Tanker
highway replied to truckman1981's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Better break out the sun glasses!! What did kit did you get the flattop out of? It looks much better than the aerodyne roof in the kit I have. I like the Mack emblem on the back of the sleeper, too. Nice touch! -
Damaged kits in shipping?
highway replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, the UPS driver was jealous the boxes brought by the mailman looked so nice, he thought "I know what brown can do for the USPS!" -
