Wonderful job, Mark. I really enjoyed watching the WIP thread, and this proves you don't need tons of aftermarket parts for a great model!

Actually, Duplicolor has both enamels and lacquers, Rob. I have used Duplicolor paints for many years now, and never have had a problem. I have found that the old smaller 6 oz (I think) touch up cans were enamel, but the new larger sized cans ARE lacquer! I didn't find this out until after I bought the paint for this build for the Jairus Race Plane CPB here of the summer, ...and even worse, after I had already sprayed the yellow. The yellow was Duplicolor enamel in the large 12 oz can, and the blue was Perfect Match touch up cans, a Ford blue if I remember correctly. I did notice a very slight amount of crazing where the blue lacquer covered the yellow overspray, but after another coat or two the crazing disappeared. As for clearcoats, there is no clear used on this one, and even the laqcuer has a nice shine. EDIT:By the way, don't mind the little roughness on the color separations, two tones aren't one of my best areas!

It's been quite a while since I did a transmission swap on a model, but the most important tip I can give you is make sure the mating surface of both are square and even. If one is not even, you might have fit issues later because the transmission will not be sittong where it should. Also, you didn't mention what each were made from, but even if one piece is resin, you will need CA (super) glue to bound them together.

Stereotyping ???
highway replied to slantasaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Andy, that was a pretty good guess, but I think the Count said it best! It almost was like I was looking in the mirror! -
Sometimes that gets me in trouble!! Your plans look good so far. You hit the wheellift perfectly!

Stereotyping ???

You know, this sounds fun, sometimes you can guess a person just solely on what they drive, but sometimes you get fooled, too! Let's see how good you can guess me, this is my daily driver. -
Jim, I seen Mr. Obsessive post yesterday (I think) that he was taking a break and that was why he was not around for a while, and Sauber I don't know. As for Romell, I think I seen him post in another one of his theads he has been really busy and just hasn't had much time, I just hope he gets less busy soon!

Yeah, but I wasn't here about a year ago!

Wierdest Loads Ever?
highway replied to Jim B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Oh, you mean Exit 185, if I remember without looking at the map (to late to dig it out ) which I believe is the Williamstown exit. I know it's in the Parkersburg area! -
Thanks for the pics Barry and DW, I have the list updated. The KW's looking nice Ernie.

I don't know Ray, maybe a "flatbedder tradition". Of course I rarely hauled anything without walls, but I have a Ford Aeromax and Freightliner FLD here that are members of the one million scale miles club!! I had to have something to keep me busy during layovers! -
I need the help of 6 individuals

You aren't the only one! -
Or you could be like a woman I seen on "Inside Edition" (at least I think that was it) earlier tonight. To save time for her screening, all she wore to the airport was a bikini!

YES! First vote and first reply! This does sound like a very good idea! I might even already have an idea and the screenshot, too. Now of course, this does lead me to one question, by movie, do you mean any movie or just a big screen theatrical type, because this was from a network tv movie called "Christmas Comes to Willow Creek". Also, any idea of a basic time frame yet? EDIT: Well, I would have had the first reply if I didn't send 5 minutes looking for that darn picture!

These are the only ones I managed to finish this year. They were for the Jairus Race Plane CBP over the summer. I've had a lot of fun with CBPs so far, and even though this is not finished yet, I hope to finish this before the deadline of Dec. 1 for the CBP it's in.

Water damage decal sheet
highway replied to Bruno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm by no means a decal expert, but I would guess you are pretty well...you can probably guess the four letter word I'm thinking of. Seriously, I would guess if they got wet enough you could slide them around on the backing, that would also mean they got wet enough to activate the adhesive, which in the best case you might get them off the sheet, but they would probably never stick to the model. The worst case is you'll never get them off the sheet again. I would really say the best bet, and what I would do, is if you bought them from an online store, hobby supplier, etc. or a decal seller on ebay, I would contact them immediatly and demand a replacement or refund. If the seller can replace them, demand they at least seal the next set in a Ziploc bag to protect them so the same does not happen again. If it was a case that you bought them from a private seller on ebay, I would still see if you could get your money back, and in your feedback, make sure you mention the seller does not ship decals in a weatherproof manner. The only other alternative I could give you is if they are still in good condition to where the artwork has not been ruined, scan them and see if you can reprint them on good decal paper or see if someone here could print a set for you. I hope at least something I said helps out, and I'm sorry to hear this happened. -
No problem Jeff, I like helping out whenever I can, and I never thought that about you! At least the inner pin is the one you accidently cut off or whatever happened to it, because once you get the engine installed, you will barely be able to see the fix anyway. That is the bad thing about Italeri kits for a new truck builder, they can get tricky at times, but the nice thing is after you do build one or two, since most have the same frame, they get easier and easier. I'm sure when I build my first one about 20 years ago, which just so happened to be a version of this same Freightliner, I'm sure mine had issues, too. Anyway, I do get the idea of what you're trying to say with the front axle, and the easiest way I've found to install it, and the way I did the green frame in my pics from yesterday, is glue the springs to the frame rails first, then I glue the axle to them. This should help line up the axle better, and the tabs on the axle... ...should line up with both inner notches on the springs. That should help in getting the axle centered better and also gives you a better chance that your springs will be square to the axle as well. I started doing it this way because I have had a couple where I glued the axles to the springs first and the spings didn't set right and twisted while the glue dried. One other thing that may be effecting the way everything is sitting too is the frame itself. If you have it glued already and it is not square, it will throw the alignment of everything else off. I usually use something with a smooth edge like the side of the hutch on my model desk to square it up before the glue sets. I hope this helps getting the axle in for you, and if not, don't be worried to ask more questions, I'll try my best to help you through it.
