Thanks Big Kahuna! I see some nice parts to steal in that kit!
-
You are mostly right, Justin. My definition of a "glue bomb" may differ some from others here (so feel free to jump in guys if I'm wrong!), but I usually consider them completely built kits that are usually glued together with more glue than needed. A few other examples could also be a built kit that is not heavily glued together, but is now in a state of disrepair with parts falling off or has even completely fallen apart. Either way, it usually has started as a fully built kit at one time that was taken or fallen apart and rebuilt. By the way, beautiful job, Eric.

Internationa Payhauler 350
highway replied to bitner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice, Bill. I know what you me about not find much reference, all I have found so far researching mine is this: It does have some interesting stats, though, like shipping weight and dimensions. -
Snowmans Kenworth W900
highway replied to Nick Winter's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I wish I could take credit for it, but all I did was find it on YouTube! I thought it would fit nicely here, though. Thanks. While I was looking through for it, I found quite a few nice videos. -

Gosh darn it, Fred, get back in the truck!! Great job, Nick. I can hear that big Kenworth roaring! Oh, wait, that's because I've got "The Legend" playing in the background! I found this on YouTube, it's not the original movie opening, but it fits the spirit of the build. I hope you don't mind, Nick! EDIT: I guess I'm not the only one to find that, the truck in the video is Dennis' avatar pic!!! -

I think I have to agree with Scott, a flatbed would look nice behind this. I'm just surprized you don't like the bullwagon behind it, though. When I was still driving out west, it seemed if a Pete wasn't pulling a livestock trailer, a KW was. -
Honestly, you just might be seeing the future of Formula 1 racing with that car! I follow F1, and just in case you didn't know, Sebastian Vettel is one of Red Bull Racings' drivers, and the look of some elements of the X1 prototype look very similar to Red Bulls cars, just without the wheel fairings.

bad weather and painting
highway replied to sobpinstriping's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have the same problem, and have ever since I first started building nearly 25 years ago. I just do like Don suggested in one of his ideas, I try to pre plan builds over the winter months and get the spray painting done before the snow flies. -
Not a bad stash at all Bradley. I'll be knocking on your door in the morning!

highway replied to Play4Keeps's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
I'm not trying to start anything or be a smart allec, but this is why this section is called "Other Models". It was put on this forum EXACTLY for models like this!! -

Very nice job! -
WOW, I'm glad this one wasn't an Auto ID Quiz, I would have never guessed 2003 for a year!

The Mitsubishi Eclipse and Toyota Supra are both much better that the Charger, since they were all new tools. The only ones to stay away from are the older cars with maybe the exception of the 70 Monte Carlo, since I can't remember if the Monte Carlo was a new tool or a modified reissue. The Charger and the 69 Camaro Yenko are both poor quality kits because the Charger has been reissued as the "Dukes of Hazzard" General Lee and the various other forms of the Charger over the years and the Yenko is also from a very old MPC mold that has seen many reissues over the years. Those molds may have been great in the early 70s when they first were made, but are junk compared to todays technology!

Stretched frame Tractors
highway replied to Sergey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Sergey, as you know, I've been working on my own stretched frame and custom sleeper truck, my Ford LTL 9000. I've scaled the sleeper at a 180 inch unit, and the frame is stretched to a wheelbase from the center of the front steer tires to the center of the first drive axle of about 345 inches. While mine is not a replica of a certain custom sleeper, I did do some research on them. You will find these two sites very interesting and helpful. The first link is to Indiana Custom Trucks, ICT Sleepers, and the second is for ARI Legacy Sleepers. http://www.trucksleeper.com/default.htm http://legacysleepers.com/index.php Here are a few of the pictures from those sites, and like Dennis said, you can get almost anything in these sleepers you can think of, even a shower and bathroom! I even found an optional fireplace on the ARI Legacy Sleeper site! These pictures are from the ICT site. -
Well, she will have chrome strips along the bottom of the cab and sleeper for the extra light panels, I gotta have chicken lights! As for the tank area itself, I'm going to have fuel tanks from front to rear and then steps I got from Porky (Eric), so there hopefully won't be to much showing under the sleeper after that, just a LOT of chrome!

Great idea Brian! I guess this will give me an excuse to drag the trains out of the closet! Just in case some of you missed my thread Brian mentioned, this is the model he was refering to in that thread. Revell of Germany (Monogram Snaptite) Union Pacific "Big Big" 4-6-6-4 #4006 This was also pictured in that thread, but this is a powered unit for my someday layout. Spectrum Cass Scenic Railroad Shay #5 with Walthers Cass Scenic Railroad C&O style Wooden Caboose And the two together. I also have another train model to build, a 1/25 scale MPC kit. I'll have to dig out the rest of my HO engines and rolling stock, I have some that are quite special I want to share.

And it's even better when your reading this AND listening to "Seinfeld" at the same time!!!

Great topic Jeff! My fiancée Melissa and I have been together since Nov 23, 2001. We met through our friends, my best friend just happened to be dating her best friend, and I had been really down since I was just recently divorced from my first wife, which ironically has the same name as one of Bluesman Mark's! The only difference was mine was like both of his rolled into one! Anyway, our friends decided to set both me and Melissa up, and since my friend and I hung out at the local bowling alley on the weekends, his girlfriend set Melissa up into coming to the bowling alley, too, and then they "conveniently" made sure the both of us would "bump" into each other! It just happened to be her birthday, so I tease her sometimes that I was the best birthday gift she ever had! The strange thing, though, was when me and Melissa met, our bet friends were also planning on marrying, but a few years later, they broke up and Melissa and I are still going strong.

Yeah, I think I seen you say that when you got it, I remember! If you look close, you can see the box in the old TV stand part of my desk, and the body doesn't even fit in the box anymore!
