  1. Everything always looks better after a 12 pack!!
  2. Welcome to the forum, Chris. If you want a crash course in a few of the works of art the "pros" are doing , check these threads out. These are all work in progress threads, you should learn a lot, I know I have! Of course, these guys would all probably say they are not "pro" model builders, so let's just say they are extremely highly advanced! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33737 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32485 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31030 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32729
  3. If you have someplace near you that sells doll house materials, get some doll house piano hinges. They are preassembled (at least the ones I've seen) and are just the right size for truck hinges. You might have to shorten the length some depending on the height of the truck's door, though.
  4. Actually, Charlie, you're close, the truck was called the VTS. The GTS you're thinking of was the Viper GTS Coupe.
  5. Glad to see you finally got the Payhauler you wanted, Blake! I might just have to see if Porky has any more of the Pete cabovers, I have one that needs help! By the way, like Jim asked, might you trade a few of the multiples? I could always use and extra Super Bee or two to add to the case of them I already have!
  6. I don't know, but the headlights look printed on, some very visible seems, so I think it's a model! Oh wait, sorry, wrong thread!!
  7. Uh, Tim, I bought both of mine at Walmart, and they were white.
  8. Here, Doug, this one should help you out. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33378
  9. Conspiracy or not, I don't know, but I know I got it right!!! You didn't fool me this time, Harry!!
  10. Nice job, Chuck. I find it odd that yours was molded in gray plastic, though. I bought two of the same combo when they hit the shelves, and both of mine were molded in white. You must have gotten a really early run!
  11. What's so funny about that?
  12. I know I promised an update sooner than this, but I've been very busy lately, so much so that I haven't even done any more on my Ford LTL 9000 build for about a month. Anyway, I just went through the names both here and also where I have this posted on SA's forum as well, and there are about 45 names so far on the list. I will continue to take names until Labor Day weekend, Sept 6, 2010. I will then send the email to Revell during the week following, sometime before Sept. 11, 2010. Anyone who has not already added their name and would like to see these kits possibly reissued, please add you name to the list. Thanks again to everyone for their support!
  13. Actually, Art, the ONLY reason I sent that kit in that manner was I couldn't find a suitable box for it. All were either too small or much too large to fit that trailer in. I also did fail to mention, I had it very clearly marked with large red "Fragile: DO NOT CRUSH" markings written on all sides of the package. It was also taped very well, there was not very many areas, if any, where the craft paper was exposed. By the way, Art, I also have exprience in shipping. While it was only 1/5 the time you've been shipping, I worked in a warehouse for 5 years shipping various products around the country.
  14. No problem at all, Davin. I'm waiting to see this finished, I've had an idea or two of building a buggy, and watching this one come together might just get me working on it!
  15. This is looking very nice so far. I don't know why, but all of a sudden, I'M THIRSTY!!!
  16. Yeah, Brian, for being only your second BMF attempt, it looks good!
  17. Davin, are you using the Boggers like in the mock up? If so, just a little helpful tip, the ones on the left hand side of the pic are facing the wrong direction. The Bogger, as far as I know, is supposed to be a directional tread, and should be facing the same direction as the right rear tire.
  18. I figured since this looks pretty good so far, I'd add some inspiration. This is one a friend of mine built a few years back, and since he's a member here, too, bump it up so he can tell you more about it!
  19. I traded a 1/25 scale trailer kit for a tractor trailer once, and it was still factory sealed. All I did was wrap brown craft paper around the original box, and had no problems with that.
  20. Brian, I'm just surprised you didn't ask Stewart where he found the grille for the black truck from!
  21. I don't have any problems with rebuilders, like I told Marc and Mark last night, I'm just not that big into them. As I said, though, I do have a few, and one I just recently acquired was a Monogram Lamborghini I've been looking to replace for years since I lost the original in a house fire in 1997. It was by accident it was a glue bomb, I found it at the same hobby shop I found the Kenworth kit a few years ago. They had gotten some more estate sale stuff, and I seen it on the shelf, and asked the manager of the shop to get it down, since it was just out of my reach. I asked him if he minded if I went though it to make sure it was all there, which he had no problem with, and I'm thinking "Finally I got one again!" I opened the box to see this: I was horrified and almost lost my lunch, but thought "Well, maybe it still has hope." My mind was really made up when the hobby shop manager told me the price for it, he more or less told me to get the thing out of the shop, and he gave it to me for NOTHING! I even went back a couple weeks later and picked up another rebuilder NASCAR kit to either rebuild or part out for $3! So, even though I prefer unbuilt kits, I will still get a rebuilder every now and then! I never know when I might get bored with more intentsive builds and want a change of pace.
  22. Wonderful job, it was fun watching this come together in the WIP thread!
  23. It looks like you did a very nice job, Jose. I'm happy to see you used the aftermarket decals, the kit Revell did of this particular car doesn't have correct decals. I have this one on the "to do" list along with many other Earnhardt models.
  24. WOW, that car is HOT!!!
