  1. Here, you can see where all of the exhaust system was removed and you can also see where my marks are for cutting the rear of the frame Point of no return now... All back together...
  2. Now, we move onto the rear wheel wells and frame area... I also had to thin out or section (in a way) the spare tire well to help maintain some clearance with the upcoming frame mods. The stock frame...
  3. So here is the last of my current "In-progress" builds. I have five that I need to finish up before starting on any new projects. This is a personal goal of mine. To see if I can resist starting another one. Lol. So this one got started as my entry into a CBP. Well, the CBP moved on and I stayed stalled out not far from the starting line. I'm going to catch you up a little bit. I did some trimming and shaving here.... After some primer...
  4. I needed some paints today so I went to the big hobby shop down the street from Riverside, RC Hobby. It's just not the same. They don't even carry the model car magazines. They had a nice selection of kits but I couldn't even find any Testors Metalizer paints. You can ask everyone in my family, I'm very sad that Riverside is shutting down.
  5. Geeeez. That's nice!!
  6. Nice job on this! I used to love watching that show.
  7. I agree! This is just too awesome!!
  8. I thought I'd posted this but I guess I didn't. Here's what things looked like last night when I turned in.
  9. Happy Birthday from one VW nut to another.
  10. The orange should be close enough to the red plastic that you shouldn't notice it bleed through. The lighter colors are the ones you have to worry about.
  11. That's cool. Nice job!
  12. Your work is just beyond words. I just flip out every time I see another post. It's amazing watching 'em come together.
  13. And of course, the use of putty would be fine as long as you're not using it to customize your model.
  14. I'm also working on this kit. It's been an on-and-off again project but I'll be watching yours. Maybe it'll help me get back on mine.
  15. Well poop! I've decided to go a different color with this. I noticed that the red plastic bled through in a couple of small spots. It would probably never be noticed but it would drive me crazy knowing that it's there. I've also heard horror stories about red plastic bleeding through years later even. I decided that the devil known as red plastic wins this time. The truck is going to be red. Everything is headed to the paint strippin' tank today.
  16. Couldn't you just swap in AMT's hardtop? Also, that motor under the seat could possibly be a power seat motor or even the cigarette vacuum.
  17. From what I've experienced, the answer is no. A box stock build can only use pieces and parts that come with that kit. There also can be no modifications. They usually need the instructions displayed with the model so that the judges can verify that nothing was "improved" upon. They will allow BMF.
  18. That's a WICKED looking car. Nice job!!
  19. WOW!!!!
  20. I've heard nothing good about this kit. Doesn't mean though, that in the right hands, it can't be turned into something. Good luck. I'll be watching.
  21. X2!! If I can get my hands on one, I'm going to have to convert it to the Supreme version because that's what my folks had. It would be nice if I didn't have to go through all of that.
  22. Some nice stuff there! Your guys' builds are amazing! I can't believe how much you guys get done in a year's time.
  23. Oh, and the reason you can't find my Chevelle thread is because it's been awhile since I've updated it. I have been polishing the body out one panel at a time every other night or so (so I don't lose my mind) but there hasn't really been anything picture worthy for a while now. Something happened with my clear coat and it's been a (enter bad word here) to get smoothed out and shiny. Here's the link though if you want it http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41074&hl=&fromsearch=1
