  1. I was able to attend the grand opening of another Portillo's restaurant today and it was a great time, oh yeah the food was great also. This place can be habit forming, hmmmmmmm.
  2. Welcome to the forum Michael as this is a great place to be. Don't know where Arena, Wisconsin is but there's two great clubs in south eastern Wisconsin. One in Oak Creek, and another in Delavan. PM me if you want any info on either of these clubs.
  3. Very nice build John. I "passed" on one of those kits at our club auction the other night, only because I already have enough to build. I really do like the subject matter though.
  4. You can check with Competition Resins as well as Speed City Resin and I'm sure you'll find the wheels you're lookin' for.
  5. Mike, A well stocked hobby shop should have those sanding cloths in a variety of grits, or they come in the LMG Polishing Kit as well. If not Micro Mark carries them for sure.
  6. Yes it is, also known as "Crook County."
  7. I don't live in the "high rent district" Harry, so I have to be my own landscaper as long as my back holds out. And besides I do a better job.
  8. I have a Husqvarna leaf blower and vacumn/shredder, and it runs like a "top." It also wears me out as I have TOO many leaves.
  9. Boy, you and your dad worked the heck out of that chainsaw already. I don't suppose you bought a spare chain?
  10. Very nice classy rides Cliff, but how many bodies can you get in the trunk spaces?
  11. I was in a model car club with a guy that was a self promoter, and wonder why his arm was never in a "sling" as he was always pattin' himself on the back, and I do mean always.
  12. Very creative.
  13. I'll have to pick up the new issue at my LHS, as when I was a subscriber I got WAY too many damaged issues. No more.
  14. Looks like some great stuff there David, and while I can't use most of it due to my building style, I'm sure that a lot of builders can. I did order a sheet of magazine coves, license plates, for sale signs, etc. on photo paper a couple of years ago and am very happy with them.
  15. That Road Runner is lookin' real good Nick, and I just love dem Mopars!
  16. You're right Ace 'bout the Lindberg Dodge kits being good donor kits, as I have a few of them in my stash for that purpose.
  17. This one's for George, and may he R.I.P.
  18. Here's a Lindberg kit that I've built in the past, and I have several more Lindberg kits in my "stash."
  19. I was lucky enough to meet George Barris a couple of times at car shows and I also recall meeting Ed Roth at a model car contest back in the mid-70's where he presented me with a trophy. I didn't get his autograph at the time, but I did get one from George. May he R.I.P.
  20. A visit to the train department at your local hobby shop should be of some help in that area.
  21. I heard that Norm Veber of Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland offers a nice set of wire wheels & tires also.
  22. A nice build Michael and I see that you added "future tinnitus" in the rear seat area as well.
  23. Michael, after my primer coat is dry I usually lightly sand it with 600 or 1000 grit paper. I then wipe the body down with my tack rag and put it on my paint stand. I then warm up my can of color coat for 'bout six minutes and after wiping and shaking the can I apply a light (mist) coat of color to the body. Since it's the first coat it may not cover all of the surfaces. After a 15 minute wait I warm the can up again, then drying and shaking the can I apply another mist coat and this time it should cover the entire body. Another 15 minute wait and after warming up the can again I finally apply the third and last color coat and this time I spray a heavier "wet" coat that covers the entire body. The last coat is wet but not enough to "run." 24 hours later I use this method to apply 3 clear coats of paint. After waiting a week or two to let this lacquer paint job thoroughly dry, I then wet sand the clear coat with sanding cloths of 4,6,8, & 12,000 grits.
  24. Between belonging to three model car clubs, going to car shows and cruise nights when the weather permits, I get my fill without watching any cars shows on TV. I've watched a few in the past and it seemed like there was 'bout 5 minutes of cars and the rest was either drama or commercials. NO more for me, as I seem to do very well without it.
