  1. When I first started building back in the 50's & 60's I probably used the kitchen table to build on or a TV tray, remember those? I've spray painted my cars outside, on the back porch, etc. I even remember putting newspapers on the bed and spraying over them. The bottom line is, do you want to build or not? If so, make do whatever means you can find. While I now have a hobby room/den, I still don't have a spray booth as I don't really have the room for one, and I still use "rattle cans" even though I have a compressor and two air-brushes that I haven't used in I don't know how many years. Yet I still build, belong to a few model clubs, and enjoy NNL's. I build for myself and enjoy the hobby very much.
  2. I highly doubt that Round 2 would go bankrupt, however when they see the VERY slow sales of this kit I'm sure they'll get the message.
  3. Revell WILL be coming out with a '57 Ford Ranchero, trust me!
  4. Thanks for the info Lance. I really don't have room for 1/18th scale and I don't build big rigs anymore either because of not enough room. I was lookin' for a Big Drag kit, but changed my mind on that as it is also too big for the space I have.
  5. Congrats "Papa Mike" as you're gonna have a great time!
  6. The paint on that Vicky looks really nice. Will you be painting the cloth insert on the top of the body, or no?
  7. LOL! Yes I remember that and I hafta agree with you.
  8. A too busy retirement at times irks me like today I came home from therapy, then I called the hospital to book an MRI and also have to go in 1 hour early for an X-ray. Then I had to make a doctors appointment and also line a place to get a shingles shot tomorrow. Staying healthy can be tiresome at times. I shouldn't complain though, at least I'm not bored.
  9. Yes it is a cool build as I was eyein' it at our club meeting last Friday night. Great job Kerry.
  10. Since I'm a "rattlecan man" I use spray cans and spray 'til the car looks good. I have NO idea how much paint I use. I do however try to use as few coats as I can so not to bury any details in the body.
  11. One can find the JoHan Drag-On-Lady AMX's every now and then also.
  12. I stayed home this afternoon waiting to have my driveway seal coated, I finally called 'bout 4:30 and they said they decided not to do it today because it looked like rain. It is and was supposed to be cloudy all day today with no rain. So now, they'll be out tomorrow to do the job, I hope???
  13. Great job Terry, and thanks!
  14. If I recall, the kits that included the "bonus parts" were released in about an 6 - 8 month span. It was fun receiving these parts and also waiting for the other kit releases to appear on the shelves. It was a great time for car modeling back in the 60's.
  15. I'd be leery of storing built models in anyplace other than temperature controlled conditions. I also like to store my un-built kits in the same environment. Storing plastic in extreme hot or cold conditions does not sit well with me.
  16. I got my Slixx General Lee decals last night at a club meeting. YeeeeeHaah! I bought them from a fellow club member as he had several sheets for sale. He also had his General Lee Charger on the club display table with the Slixx decals and they look great.
  17. I attended our monthly club meeting last night and had a great time. LOTS of models on the display table for "table talk," and a number of guys had model kits for sale including myself, as I'm still tryin' to "thin the herd." A good time and we're already starting to make preparations for our Milwaukee NNL next April.
  18. Hmmm, I didn't know that 1/18th scale kits were available. Thanks.
  19. So the Comet kit is pretty much like the Maverick, or no as I have one somewhere in my stash?
  20. I guess that's what you can expect when you do non-union work. ALL of downtown Chicago was built using union workers, and I see it continuing that way for a long time. No cry babies, just skilled workers who want to feed their families and pay their bills.
  21. I sometimes spray Testors Dull-Cote on the chrome plated blowers and hats to give it that aluminum look, as these parts in 1:1 scale cannot be chrome plated. They are sometimes highly polished which give them the appearance of being chrome plated.
  22. Picked up a couple built-up kits today, a '68 Dodge Coronet R/T and a '61 Cadillac Fleetwood. Also a '60 Edsel hardtop. Hmmm, I've been used to virgin plastic for so long I wont know what to do with these. LOL!
  23. Over the years I've been spraying my color coats one day and my clear coats the next day. I seems to work great for me.
