Great job. The blue and the flames go together well. Know what you mean about a simple project getting out of hand. Simple can be as bad as the word free. Sometimes free ends up costing one in the long run.
  3. Nice like it in red.
  4. Cool I like it.
  5. Another thought. Are you sure you have the right tip , cone, and needle together.
  6. What consistency is your paint? It may be too thin. Also is it a single or double action airbrush?
  7. blunc nobody is calling you names. Here is the original post which states that this site has the reputation of being elitist. Obviously there are those who have different expectations of what a forum experience should be. There is a contingent that says we should give positive or negative feedback at all times. Despite good intentions this action is going to alienate those who are not expecting that response and thereby give the site a bad reputation. We can ignore them with statement that this is a public forum and positive and negative feedback should be expected. However we can also expect the elitist label. If we want to avoid the label then we need to change the way things are are done.
  8. Thanks for the info. Now the scale makes sense. Aren't you concerned about damaging it when you drive it?
  9. Hey if you're going to hit a something expensive might as well be a Ferrari. Don't understand why the lights were off.
  10. Would you provide a link to your facebook page please. Would like to see your pictures you posted. Thanks.
  11. Check tyrones 1969 outlaw camaro build post 56. He shows how he uses staples for door hinges. Lots of other good tips on modifying the revell top sportsmen kits for drag builds. Don't know about the removable front though.
  12. Guess its obvious why this site has an elitist attitude reputation which prompted this thread in the first place.
  13. Nice. Like the color.
  14. The problem as I see it is that evrrybody here assumes everyone that joins this forum wants to improve their skills. Why do we feel it is so necessary to educate them. If somebody doesn't ask for an accessment then either make no comment or focus on some positive aspect of the model being shown. its totally diferent when somebody requests postive or negative feedback. One still needs to tactful in their comments but by all means give them an honest acessment. In the long run this will avoid hurting peoples feelings. A forum is for sharing ideas and information but not imposing your way of doing things.
  15. Kids have a lot more things to occupy their time. the internet - youtube, social media tv programming- most households have one or 200 channels of programming cell phones text messaging Its no wonder kids don't have the time or the interest in model building. I believe model building will survive as a hobby but it is going to have to evolve from how most of us think of the hobby. As stated 3d printing is just starting to have an impact and will have a major impact on the hobby. Plastic model kits have only been around since the 60s. Before that most building was done with wood. Technology has had a major impact on our lives. Some of it is good and some bad. Regardless it will continue to shape what we do with our free time.
  16. Very nice.
  17. Did you paint it with the tamiya rattle cans or airbrush the bottled. The bottled can take a while to drive
