  1. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. I see 3d printing as a big part of the hobby in the future. Go to a site and select the parts for your kit. Engine, chassis , body ... Think of it as an ultimate revell parts packs. With a large database of parts to chose from. You will be able to even select the scale you want. There are some interesting projects here that are being created using 3d parts. Also there is hope for people creating things. There are several sites dedicated to DIY projects in a wide range of subjects. If some of us create model related projects we may catch some interest for the hobby. Bottom line living in the past serves no valid purpose unless you are a historian. Take advantage of the present and look to the future.
  2. Wheels look great. Nice work.
  3. Nice work.
  4. Super nice.
  5. I agree 100 percent. Help those who want to be helped. If some hang around long enough they may start asking questions and learn, and we may also learn something from them. What we do is art and art involves ego. When attack their work you are attacking them. However its unfortunate that there are some that refuse to listen to rational arguments when they are wrong.
  6. If you are going with go with the agreed upon list above then the header above the workbench about making comments since it isn't true anymore.
  7. Well looks like the poor poster that got a rude awakening has stopped posting. But I guess the contingent that holds the belief that brutal honesty should be acceptable is happy because we don't want those thin skinned people cluttering up the forum. Unfortunately we have all lost. We have been deprived of another perspective and interesting ideas from another member.
  8. Any updates.
  9. Top of workbench forum paraphrased Keep your comments, crticisms and sarcasms unless the poster has requested them.
  10. The post is question was a perfect example of why this forum has a perceived reputation for being elitist as indicted by this thread title. The behavior was not acceptable and should not be found acceptable by justifying it with this is a public forum. It also does not follow with the policy stated at the top of most of the forums of making comments and criticisms only when asked. It also doesn't fit the implied policy of being civil to other members.
  11. For me I am only interested in helping people that want to be helped. Doesn't mean I will offer false praise. I will make a comment on some aspect I like if possible. To me the rest is believing in an idyllic world. The people that don't want negative feedback are not going to see that everybody has the right to comment positively or negatively to their work. In their mind thier work is perfect and needs no improvement. Sometimes the way things actually work is totally different from reality.
  12. No the last issue of elapsed timeshas a Mustang funny car it had a pull date in the end of June. Only three issues of overkill.
  13. If you use several temperatures of solder you can avoid the problem of stuff coming apart or use resistive soldering.
  14. Afx suggestions are good. I would like to add another suggestion. The poster needs to indicate if they want constructive criticism. If I see something that should be fixed or taken into consideration for future builds I want to know if the person is receptive to comments.
  15. Another thought would be a product called RenShape. I haven't used it but I have seen examples of using it. Google it to see more. Also you need to create a thread to ask others who have used it.
  16. I would use thick plastic and then use a large file and sandpaper for the shape.
  17. Actually I think evergreen would work. After you do your plans I would look at breaking each part into simple shapes. What scale are you thinking about?
  18. Another idea would be pull the front axle further forward. Just a thought. Edit thinking of the crosley drag cars. If you gogle it you will see what I am talking about.
  19. Ira I think you ned to do something on the front end. Narrowing the front axle might help. Whatever you do it will come out great.
