  1. This is the best answer to the question asked in the title of this thread.
  2. Autoworld is doing a subscription program. I'm talking about getting parts for a single large scale model over 12 monthsl.
  3. I would like to see a shot of the body on the frame again.
  4. Yeah that was the outfit I've seen.
  5. Neat idea. Also mechical pencils come in several sizes so you could have a couple of different sizes.
  6. Call it what you want JM you are creating a standard of what should be expected from a high profile builder. When people point this out then you dragout the argument that we are defending mediocrity. As others have pointed out if you think that this is such an important issue then make yourself a high profile builder and be the example you expect.
  7. Recently I've seen kits being offered on a subscription basis. Some have options for buying over 12 months or to buy it all at once. The kits are 8th scale and the total price is about 1200 dollars. Just curious on others opinion on this.
  8. You need to private message either Harry P or Casey two of the moderators. To pm go to the member's profile and select send message
  9. Pat pm Harry or Casey for answers to your questions
  10. My preference is to do as much pre assembly as possible. For example the engine will be painted as a unit. Before paint I will do a mock up to minimize having to tweak painted parts. Body gets painted at the same time as other parts so that it has time to dry before polishing and foiling.
  11. Great choice on color.
  12. Yeah I could see the rear a tad higher on the modified photo. The vision you have is cool.
  13. The only time somebody gets vilified is when they are imposing their standards on somebody else. Never said that somebody can't get enjoyment to building to a higher standard. Its amazing how you think you have all the answers JM.
  14. Well I have to say this thread has been entertaining. I'm empressed 35 replies and counting. Glad to see I'm the only one that doesn't buy into the higher standard BS. As has been said this is a hobby. We build for our own pleasure in most cases although there may be other motivations. If (we) lose sight of that then we need to find something else to do with our time. <edited in missing word>
  15. Not making excuses for anybody. I'm stating my opinion on the subject. Curious what others think about this debate.
  16. Believe whatever you want to. Personally no builder has any responsibility to the hobby and I think that is an unreasonable expectation to put on anyone. This forum is for showing off our work and sharing ideas nothing more. Most are showing what we have done and our way of doing it
  17. And in more than one case John has said he's not perfect. Second have yet to see a perfect model. And in most cases when you see one close to perfection and talk to the builder they will normally say rhere is always they could have done better.
  18. Sorry missed the part about the front. Curious to see what it looks like with the changes done. Like the concept that you are shootijg for.
  19. Looking at your model photo in the front the fender is a lot closer to the tire and the back is pretty close to your modified picture. I think the front beihg so closecto the tire makes the back look at lot higher. If you raised the front up to be closer to your modified photo it would look better. Also it would give the front some room for suspension travel.
  20. Looks good to me. Do you have a side shot of the actual car to show what you are trying to achieve?
