  1. I can't copy and post it here. See me offline for more info.
  2. Mark Gustavson did a multi-part how-to in Car Modeler magazine about 20 years ago, using the AMT '49 Ford. Really informative, and Mark REALLY knows his stuff. I'll see if I can find them if you're interested.

  4. WOW I had no idea. I have the diecast and it is a totally different story. It's nice. None of those problems. I'm glad I bought the resin kit just for the fenders ( didn't want to carve on diecast parts) They'll still look good on your Cord COE.
  5. Yeah I stumbled across a Parts Pack Allison V-12. Then I gave it to Blake Rogers because I have no use for it. I also found a bunch of those Blueprinter Parts Pack car engines that were reissued in the '90s. Oh yeah! I also found my Revell Germany Vincent Black Shadow. I thought I sold that thing.
  6. Can we get some more information? Are you building a tire-shredding torque monster of an engine? Do you already have an 8.8 rear end (or did you get a car with no rear end?). The 8.8 can take plenty of abuse. I don't see why you need to go with an expensive rear end. Do you have the same question posted on a Fox Mustang message board? You will definitely get better results there.
  7. I love wire wheels. They're not easy to make, though. One problem is spoke nipples. The wheels just don't look right without them. The old Ford wires have spokes welded to the hub and rim. I got a "steel" wheel from a Big Deuce and cut out the center, then drilled 32 holes in the rim. I ran some .030" Evergreen rod through the holes just to see how it would look bent into position. The spokes look bigger than they are in this photo. I need to make a hub and assembly jig, but I think it will all work out.
  8. That's the plan. Also take a look at the front fenders from Heller's Delahaye. I don't know any (affordable) kit that has 4 enclosed fenders like your drawing. I'll go with open front fenders. And hey- there's nothing wrong with mixing fenders from 2 different kits or widening them, or.... I have that Delahaye kit. The box art shows a peak on the front fenders but the kit parts are rounded. I added the peak with a piece of brass wire and some putty. I saw a WIP in which a guy widened the Delahaye fenders. I like your idea a lot. I have a glue bomb Monogram Cord that's I'm going to dig out and brainstorm on.
  9. Wait. Here's one for a great price http://cgi.ebay.com/Model-Master-EXTREMELINER-No-466-HSO-W-W-L-K-1-25-scl-/170608175488?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b90a2980
  10. I like your pencil drawing...a lot. I would go with a roof that's more rounded and lose the angle chop. The fenders looks somewhat like those on the "Extremeliner", which is available as a diecast or a resin kit from Testors/Jimmy Flintstone. I think you have a REALLY cool idea. I like it so much I just bought the only extremeliner resin kit on ebay
  11. ZOMG THE GUBMINT WILL MAKE ME BUY A CAR I DON'T LIKE ZOMG
  12. Use a descriptive thread title?
  13. First part of this has some great Flakpanzer footage
  14. Tamiya. Beautiful demarcation line.
  15. Or start with funny car front tires. They're rated for 300+ mph.
  16. I wonder if that 762ci engine has a water jacket. If not, trip length will be pretty short.
  17. Title pretty much says it all. Looking for a better chain in 1/6. Thanks.
  18. If it's a recent production kit, contact the manufacturer and try to get a new windshield.
  19. This will be a model of a car I would like to build in full size. The idea is a low-buck rod. Not a rat rod, but something that could be built and driven by a working man. The engine will be a Packard straight-8 (I have a real one in my garage). Frame will be scratchbuilt (it needs to be longer and stronger. The Packard engine is a beast. 925 pounds w/o trans, IIRC). I bought a resin turtle deck for it, but while I was cleaning it up, the foot locker-type trunk idea occurred to me. It's different, and it can hold enough stuff for a weekend out of town..at least enough to get me to a hotel.
  20. Is there a paint that will wrinkle up a little? Can I use masking tape and put semi-gloss paint over it? Inquiring minds want to know. Thank you.
  21. I think your project is really cool. I love seeing street rods built to a high standard. I think one day we'll see a street rod at GSL that will rival anything Gerald Wingrove has built.
  22. None of the above. Shorten front and back ends so the wheel is in the middle of the bed.
