  1. Is that a scratchbuilt conversion or was it molded like that??? Tell us more.
  2. ASTON MARTIN DBS???!!! Holy cow! I'm in for sure. In other news- more of the "Why didn't they make a 1974 boringmobile? I drove one to high school and I'd buy a case of 'em!". Ugh.
  3. I went to the model section and this was one of the first kits on the page. It had less than a minute to go and it was about 4 bucks. I quickly bid $10 but got outbid. With 13 seconds to go, I bid more and got it for $13. I have to admit, I'm not really into it. I sent an e-mail to Mark Gustavson to see if he wants it for the Model Car Museum. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160400317537
  4. I'm not familiar with that variant, but I do like unusual military vehicles. I'm interested in a trade. I don't keep a trade stash, so let me know what you're looking for.
  5. That is neat. That eliminated my one reservation about your chassis. I will definitely order one for the Barracuda. Oh man...a 1/8 scale Pro/Street 'cuda with a blown hemi, lenco, and big fat tires. It just doesn't get any better than this.
  6. Yes. Pay $20 for the supercharger. You'll get the entire rest of the kit to add to your spare parts collection. If you do find a resin supercharger it will likely be in the $10-$15 range, plus shipping. That's nearly $20 right there, and it won't come with those cool Shelby wheels.
  7. Don't volunteer to do anything after you enlist!
  8. Congratulations. You might also consider an MOS that's just plain interesting, rather than job training for a post-military career. I was an M1 Tanker for no other reason than I wanted to. I loved it. The M1 Abrams tank is a fascinating machine. I was a driver, loader, and gunner. I constantly worked being better at all three positions and I was darned good. I did 4 1/2 years active and 7 1/2 Guard. I decided to get out when Texas switched from Armor to Infantry. I really didn't want any other job. Any job you get will teach you things that employers love, like getting the job done, being a team player, and working for a boss you can't stand...without the boss knowing how you feel. I'm not joking about that last one. I've had coworkers comment on that. You will learn it, because in the Army, there is no "To heck with this. I'm outta here!". You just soldier on and do your job. A photo I shot in Germany...which reminds me- get a duty station overseas! Go see the world!
  9. How about simulated rivets? They are made as small as .020", maybe smaller. Or a small punch and die set.
  10. No one is going to sell the ferrules by themselves. I suspect that by the time you buy 8-12 fittings, you could have used that money on cnc-machined scale velocity stacks. The guy who used them on a model probably had access to old fittings that were getting thrown away.
  11. Could you be more specific? Swagelok's site lists 7937 products under "fittings".
  12. Gary- A great place to get spare parts is other kits. You might only need the tires, but you will get the entire rest of the kit for your stash of spare parts. Also look on ebay in the model section for "junk yard". There are always several auctions for built models and or parts, usually with something in common, i.e. muscle cars, drag cars, etc. I've never looked for off-road junk yards, but I'll bet you could find one sooner or later. If you can get to a big model contest, they usually have a swap meet. You can find lots of out-of-production kits and even some junk yard-type sales.
  13. No, it didn't, but nice way to work politics into this thread. Moron.
  14. Is that a Curtis Mathes TV???

  16. I thought you were quitting as Moderator.
  17. Why is this everybody's pet issue? You are not a moderator. Your stock doesn't decrease in value because of this. Don't worry about it. I hate non-descriptive thread titles...like this one. You don't see a weekly rant from me. Get over it!
  18. I've tried to quit being a jerk, really I have. I just don't know if I can change my basic nature.
  19. Banned Camp. Yeah, I know, my name is not really Emil Schuffhausen, but I'll never get a Mail Fraud notice for using a screen name from a funny movie.
  20. Possibly because you shut down threads and you seem to think he always deserves one more chance.
  21. Just my opinion, but if you use more modern wheels & tires, you'll make it look like a model of a kit car, rather than a customized Auburn...and there's nothing wrong with adding a bit of personal flair to a coachbuilt car. If you're replacing them because the kit parts are poor-quality, I could send you a set of wheels and tires from any number of other pre-war classics. I have at least one of just about every pre-war classic model ever made, along with lots of spare parts.
  22. Desperate times call for desperate measures. In a museum in Germany, I saw a pre-war Maybach that had the back of its body cut off and replaced with a cobbled-together circular saw. The owner's Reichmarks became worthless after the war but he still had his material possessions. He drove around cutting up firewood in order to feed his family.
  23. He's had his day more than once. There's a moderator here who keeps closing threads about him.
