  1. Is Plastruct Inc - Plastic Weld Plastic Solvent Cement still available. My LHS no longer stocks it. And, I`m haveing a challenging time finding it on-line. And, since I`m on the topic how do the others similar plastic cement acetone (CH3)2CO content solvents (Tamiya Extra Thin Cement, Tenax-7R, Ambroid Pro-Weld, Micro-Mark Same Stuff etc.) stack up as far as bonding power and bonding time. A friend loves the thin brush applicator that comes with the Tamiya Extra Thin cement; he says its like a "mini paint brush", unlike the much larger bristle brush that comes with the others solvent type cements.
  2. Thanks Mark I appropriate you dropping some knowledge on us. I would truly hope that since Round 2 has to go through the expense to backdating the Vega I hope they opt to do a `71 or `72 Vega. It will leave options for a Motion Super Vega as well as a Grumpy Toy built option.
  3. Just curious has there very been a `71 Vega kitted.. inquiring minds want to know. I belive that the Pro Stock "Grumpy’s Toy X" Vega campaigned by renowned Grumpy Jenkins, was a `72. "Grumpy`s Toy X " was one of the early cars to take advantage of NHRA rule changes in ’72 that allowed for lighter cars fitted with small block Chevy V-8 engines.
  4. I agree with you Bob muscle car version of the Vega would sell FAR better than a factory stock one. Since Round 2 is contemplating back dating the kit how many of you would be open to seeing a `71 Baldwin Motion "Super Vega".
  5. Ditto on the `71 Vega...if they are going to the expense to back date the body then the `71 Bruce Larson Vega is certainly the way to go if the insist on kiting a Pro-Stock car.
  6. Nice color.
  7. Earlier this month I posted an interest in doing a Baldwin Motion "Super Vega". It was suggested that I might want to consider using the '74 Bruce Larson USA-1 Vega as a starting point because; it was is set for reissue in a couple of months. Well I checked the AMT/Round 2 web-sites and did not see the kit listed as 2016 release/reissue. So I decided to ask AMT/Round 2 directly about the release date of the kit. Below is the response I got to my inquiry: We had it planned for the second half of this year, but due to tooling budgets and backdating costs, this project may get pushed out to 2017. Thanks for your interest, John Greczula Model Kit Development Director Round 2, LLC The news was disappointing but, I appropriate the time taken to respond to the question and the trustfulness in the response. It may not be what I wanted to hear but it was what I need to know. Thanks, AMT/Round 2 for the honest forthright reply.
  8. When shooting large pieces like chassis's flat black I prefer rattle can Master Master or Tamiya. I most certainly prefer Tamiya fine grain grey and white fine primers in rattle can. Haven`t been able fine the Alclad II Chrome in rattle can but; I`m interested in giving it a spin. Everything else is airbrushed.
  9. Is there anyone out there that will print up several custom license plate for several projects I have on the workbench.
  10. I have to attach a resin part to a turned aluminum part. I was wondering is C.A. glue the best option or is there a better chose.
  11. I`m please to hear the MPC '74 Bruce Larson USA-1 pro stock kit is gonna be reissued. After your comment I searched the forum and found a post going back to 6 Jun 2015 saying that it was gonna be reissued. Does any one have a release date for the kit.
  12. Does anyone know if a 1:25 scale `71 or `72 Chevy Vega was very kitted or cast by anyone. Was thinking about doing a `71 thru `72 Baldwin Motion 454 Super Vega.
  13. I heard this is a nice kit...I`ll be watching this post for sure.
  14. I hope you are correct. I would love to see a i:25 (not 1:24) scale `69 G.T.O and `70 Mustang on the shelves again!!! And, a `1:25 scale 70 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am would be bad either. :-)
  15. Awesome and outstanding..it is well executed & I love the wire wheels and color. By the way, would you mind sharing with us what color(s) the body was painted in; it appears to be a two tone paint scheme.
  16. Just to let you folks know what I finally did to match the color of the Milodon deep sump oil pan. First, you all gave some great suggestion and couldn't decide which was closest the Alclad Pale Gold or Testors Inca Gold; so I got my hands on both and did a side by side test. The winner was Testors Inca Gold because the intensely of the goldish/yellowish tint was a much closer match. As pointed out by Peteski, in an earlier comment, the only issue with the Testors paint was the metallic flakes in it. I resolved this by top coating the Testors Inca Gold with Alclad II Klear Kote Flat and it majorly toned down the metallic flake.
  17. It is what it is..thanks for the reality check. But, Round 2 folks still rock.
  18. I have purchased a number of their reissues as well as their awesome pad printed tires. I `m not sure what others may desire but I for onre am hopeful that t Round 2 will be able to resurrect some of my other favorite 1/25 sale MPC kits in the very near future.... `69 Pontiac GTO `70 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am `70 Dodge Charger 169 Mustang `70 Mustang `70 Camaro Grumpy`s Toy
  19. Ditto..it`s great that Round 2 put these classic vintage kits back on the shelves of our LHS and in the hands of both old and new modelers. Kudos to the great folks at Round 2.
  20. Yep..in a on-line research article I found "What Is A Clutchflite Transmission" one person stated "They are also known as "Clutch Bombs" as they blow up with amazing force and destruction. Dumping the clutch is as destructive as neutral dropping your trans at high rpm." http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?topic=15170.0 Hence, the reason for the scatter shield being part of the modification. However, in the late 60ties and thru 70ties both street and strip racers were using them. In addition to the Mopar 727 tans there was an identical modification for the G.M. TH-400 tranny.
  21. I placed my decals using water and a a couple of drops of dish washing liquid. Once I got them where I wanted I allowed them to dry , the next day I gently applied a wash of water and a couple of drops of white vinegar and they sucked down to the body quite nicely once dried. Thanks fo all the advise folks.
  22. The tires come out great. Thanks for all the advise folks. :-)
  23. True, it is an odd duck of 60ties-70ties racing history. The Motown Missile Dodge Challenger used this setup and at Gainesville 1970, almost beat Ronnie Sox in the Pro stock final. Don Carlton was driving and he accidentally left the shifter in 2nd on the start, had he started in 1st as normal there was a good chance he'd of won that race, as the Missile was running as well as Sox's 'Cuda. http://www.moparchat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107737 You could also run one on the street, but with today's converter technology, i.e. trans-brakes, the ClutchFlite ended up being obsolete. However I was wondering if it had been kitted in any of the Pro-Stock kits representing that era of drag car.
