Earlier this month I posted an interest in doing a Baldwin Motion "Super Vega". It was suggested that I might want to consider using the '74 Bruce Larson USA-1 Vega as a starting point because; it was is set for reissue in a couple of months. Well I checked the AMT/Round 2 web-sites and did not see the kit listed as 2016 release/reissue. So I decided to ask AMT/Round 2 directly about the release date of the kit. Below is the response I got to my inquiry: We had it planned for the second half of this year, but due to tooling budgets and backdating costs, this project may get pushed out to 2017. Thanks for your interest, John Greczula Model Kit Development Director Round 2, LLC The news was disappointing but, I appropriate the time taken to respond to the question and the trustfulness in the response. It may not be what I wanted to hear but it was what I need to know. Thanks, AMT/Round 2 for the honest forthright reply.

Rattle Cans - who still uses them?
69NovaYenko replied to tiking's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When shooting large pieces like chassis's flat black I prefer rattle can Master Master or Tamiya. I most certainly prefer Tamiya fine grain grey and white fine primers in rattle can. Haven`t been able fine the Alclad II Chrome in rattle can but; I`m interested in giving it a spin. Everything else is airbrushed. -
I heard this is a nice kit...I`ll be watching this post for sure.

To the KOOL KATS at Round2

I hope you are correct. I would love to see a i:25 (not 1:24) scale `69 G.T.O and `70 Mustang on the shelves again!!! And, a `1:25 scale 70 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am would be bad either. :-) -
Awesome and outstanding..it is well executed & I love the wire wheels and color. By the way, would you mind sharing with us what color(s) the body was painted in; it appears to be a two tone paint scheme.

Just to let you folks know what I finally did to match the color of the Milodon deep sump oil pan. First, you all gave some great suggestion and couldn't decide which was closest the Alclad Pale Gold or Testors Inca Gold; so I got my hands on both and did a side by side test. The winner was Testors Inca Gold because the intensely of the goldish/yellowish tint was a much closer match. As pointed out by Peteski, in an earlier comment, the only issue with the Testors paint was the metallic flakes in it. I resolved this by top coating the Testors Inca Gold with Alclad II Klear Kote Flat and it majorly toned down the metallic flake.

I have purchased a number of their reissues as well as their awesome pad printed tires. Ditto..it`s great that Round 2 put these classic vintage kits back on the shelves of our LHS and in the hands of both old and new modelers. Kudos to the great folks at Round 2. -
Clutchflite Transmission-Look 4
69NovaYenko replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yep..in a on-line research article I found "What Is A Clutchflite Transmission" one person stated "They are also known as "Clutch Bombs" as they blow up with amazing force and destruction. Dumping the clutch is as destructive as neutral dropping your trans at high rpm." http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?topic=15170.0 Hence, the reason for the scatter shield being part of the modification. However, in the late 60ties and thru 70ties both street and strip racers were using them. In addition to the Mopar 727 tans there was an identical modification for the G.M. TH-400 tranny. -
Vinegar And Water-Decal Setting Solution
69NovaYenko replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I placed my decals using water and a a couple of drops of dish washing liquid. Once I got them where I wanted I allowed them to dry , the next day I gently applied a wash of water and a couple of drops of white vinegar and they sucked down to the body quite nicely once dried. Thanks fo all the advise folks. -
Clutchflite Transmission-Look 4
69NovaYenko replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
True, it is an odd duck of 60ties-70ties racing history. The Motown Missile Dodge Challenger used this setup and at Gainesville 1970, almost beat Ronnie Sox in the Pro stock final. Don Carlton was driving and he accidentally left the shifter in 2nd on the start, had he started in 1st as normal there was a good chance he'd of won that race, as the Missile was running as well as Sox's 'Cuda. http://www.moparchat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107737 You could also run one on the street, but with today's converter technology, i.e. trans-brakes, the ClutchFlite ended up being obsolete. However I was wondering if it had been kitted in any of the Pro-Stock kits representing that era of drag car. -
I also us all the above. Instead of Micro Stix I use a similar product called Pic-N-Stic by Pulpdent https://www.google.com/#q=Pic-N-Stic+by+Pulpdent as well as small ball of "The Museum Putty" ...it is a reusable tacky putty that used to hold things in place on the tip of a tooth pick https://www.google.com/#q=The+Museum+Putty I have also used this product for paint masking of odd shaped parts that are difficult to mask off with traditional tape as well as holding parts together during assembly mock ups and test fittings. A 24 ounce package will last you a while if you use it smartly. :-)

Have a pair of tires (I not sure if they are TRUE rubber but they are AMT kit tires) that have raised lettering on both sides. I wish to remove the molded in lettering and replace it with a water slide decal of another manufacturer. 1) Is sanding it off the best method and if so what grit. 2) I wish to give the tires a coat of flat or semigloss clear to smooth out any irregularities which may cause the transfers not to stick. I believe I should use acrylic instead of lacquer/ enamel...just confirming that I`m going about this correctly.
