Check this out for a few ideas. It is a 42 Chevy 4 door but some ideas?

Since you are going as far as you have for smoothing, I personally don't like them but I would try either canted quad or SLK Mercedes headlights or even the front fender tips of the 1950 Studebaker bullet nose. The rear 1/4's I would put in some type of vent to break up the slab just in front of where the fender wells should be. Tail lights I would maybe somehow integrate them so they are painted body color but fully functional. I would definately come up with a different scoop. Maybe put together a few sheets of plastic and carve one that matches the lines or maybe cut the one down you are using.

Its a 56 Olds 344 with a zephyr trans. Cragar 671 blower and drive. Let me break all your hearts. The Beach Boys didn't know a thing about cars. Our beloved 409 song just some how managed to sound almost perfect when they sang it. If it sounded right it was probably by accident. Most of their car songs were written by DJ Roger Christian. http://www.autoweek....RNEWS/905119995

trucks at masscar show
ARTEMIS1759 replied to scale trucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I love the old take on a new truck theme of the second one. And of course the Cannonball with the trolley. Not sure why but I love the idea of hauling RR on a flattie. -
That truck looks sharp. If you don't find anything I would do all ?Metal Surfaces" black and then do all upholstry in the contrasting color along with the dash. Maybe 2 tone the seats since it is a Kustom truck. Got any better pics of the rig? I would definately have to scale down those decals though or redesign them so they were not so prominent.

May be the size did not upload. Your best bet is to get a fotki or photobucket account and upload it and then use the img url to post it here. Just copy it from there and paste in the text section. -
OK so this is my version of AMT Texaco Truck. I love old wreckers so my goal is to build a twin boom holmes set up. Similar to this: But more in this style: This is the twin drum winch setup I will be using from KFS: This is my box of parts scavenged from my main box of parts to include lights, rods and other stuff to scratch this out. And this where I started. I chopped up a blazer frame I had for the rail extensions and cut the 50 Frame in half: This is more or less the truck I plan to build: I was trying to find rims like this but the I had an epiphany lol. Why not by this truck for 30 bucks and scavenge these wheels? Right? I am guessing since I found this boom, this is the wonderful kit it came from lol. Any one got the pieces of the bed they could take a pic of in a blown up picture so I can see how they look. Or maybe the original instructions? http://www.blujay.com/item/kit-MPC-Chevy-pickup-Dukes-Cooter-s-Tow-Truck-1-25-15090200-2366007 Found the instructions so direguard.

I'll keep that in mind. I got a different project I am working on at the moment.

I guess throwing around ideas and trying to keep it looking real, probably go with a USA1 monster truck kit since it has the rockwell axles and modify everything to fit. With the smaller tires and all. These are the tires I would like to find 16.00 x 20 (52") Michelin XZLs. Military Tires.http://www.ityre.com/en/tyres/catalog/michelin/model/2056/

So now does anyone have a 1947-53 GM pickup box that they make separate so I don't have to buy 2 kits. It is a scale 9' box on the truck. Which was a factory box you could order in those years.http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/onlinestore/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=412. Apparently ol Jimmy still sells the kit for 25 bucks.

Disreguard the last. Looks like he curved it back in twards the back. I knew I had seen a cab like this somewhere. Might be where I got the idea.
-
Ahh, you guys got all kinds of good info. I would just have to chop the extension off the back. I don't like the look of the portion behind the rear doors. My cab is slightly different because the rear part (rear doors back) are actually at a 90 degree angle, square, instead of angled with the front doors but we will see.

Nice, Thanks for the link. Those would work. A couple of inches shouldn't matter. I would just have to modify some alcoas which is what I did on this truck. I used some rock crusher wheels I found and put the Alcoa centers in them.
-
Lookin Good. Keep it up.
-
I would like to. I know now using the Google Sketchup app how to cut up two cabs to make a crewcab so it would be fairly easy. The hard part would be the wheels and 53" tires. It is all to scale so all I would half to do is take more pics of it and print them out for reference. If I ever get my rod shop together I want to build a 1:1.

This is a design I had for a while now. With the thought of modern trucks like the CXT and others similar to it. I need to add a front axle yet to make it a 4x4 but it also uses a 47-early 55 Chevy pickup box. Enjoy.
