  1. the Ty-Rods car show in Massachusetts this past weekend: tons of beautiful cars and yes, a population of street rods from the 30s to the 60s. but the cars which I kept going back to study the details were the "unfinished" cars. I can't actually describe the why-fors and where-ases, but the best I can do is claim they showed more imagination.
  2. I remember when stamps went from 5 to 7 cents. my father immediately cut the Christmas card list in half, arguing that he wasn't going to spend $4.00 a year on stamps!

  4. everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die.
  5. how do we get rid of the fuzz and still have it accept paint wash? won't the traditional beeswax render it non-porous?

  10. watching a favorite physician's video from his testing facility ... there was a specific correction in the lecture from the former to the latter - or vice visa (sic) - I cannot remember. I always thought the two terms were interchangeable; what's the dif?
  11. so .... they're not "ricers" but "noodlers"? (no offense intended guys - sit back down!)
  12. someone should start a "wish-list" thread and then it could be forwarded to the manufacturers. (I'm still on-board for a '56 Volkswagen)
  13. going the 'box-art' route?
  14. I thought Tim Considine had a flathead highboy.
  15. I think when we were 16, taking off the hood was considered a performance modification. it was a simpler time. I can remember walking down the street and stopping to watch two guys paint their car with house paint and brushes.
  16. I wanted to add "don't mind the curmudgeon" but that would be the pot ....
  17. I thought of "Spin & Marty"
  18. I believe they were named for Colonel Ernest Shackelton, the great Arctic explorer.
  19. take the kit back and return it for another. write a review and bash the manufacturer for selling you a bogus made in another country kit.
  20. I had an upholstery kit which was bought mail order from Auto World circa 1963ish. think it was 50 cents.
  21. not to stray tooo far afield ... just finishing up "Driving With the Devil" by Neal Thompson. Roy Hall, bootlegger turned racecar driver in the early days of stock car racing was immortalized by Jim Croce in his song "Rapid Roy". good book, too.
