Once again thanks for showing the technique's you used to do your paint work Mark. Very impressive so far, looks awesome in the last mock up pic. You and Virgil convinced me I would be better of using an air-brush to do patterns,So I scored a new dual action air-brush kit yesterday. Now I just need to get the 65 Chevelle and 65 Impala done so I can try do some patterns on a build. Thanks for all the inspiration in this thread/topic,keep up the good work fella's.

Looks cool Mark. What program are you using to render the layout ?? Ive been using OpenOffice Draw to help design a pattern layout,il post some pics when I start my patterned build.
-
Progress on the Chevelle. Interior is 90% complete just a couple touch ups to do. Chassis complete.
-
JamesDE. Good colour choice, will look excellent with all the chrome. Joker,,Caprice looks real good. You just need to build a Lowrider tow-rig now. Mark, thanks for the tips on the tape work. Do you work out and draw a design for the patterns on paper before you start laying tape or do you make it up as you go along ??. Also are you using Tamiya tape ??.

Nice work James, colour matched Lowrider bike is cool.
-
Steve, nice work on the 69. JamesDE, Glasshouse is progressing well. Mark, the interior is looking good so far, some cool idea's you have planned for sure. And thanks for taking the time to show and explain your paint process.
-
Thanks James. Quick rough paint mock up of the Chevelle.
-
Good to see James and Antonio joining in. Antonio that 57 is looks excellent so far. James that 55 is going to look nice. Here is one I built from that exact same kit as Lowrider last year.
-
Liking your methodical technique and approach, should result in a flawless clean build.
-
Ah ok, it will be worth waiting to see a Cranky Lowrider creation.

Scratch Building an Aussie Ford Falcon **New update,15/1/18**
Cool Hand replied to ShawnS's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Impressive as usual Shawn, you never cease to amaze me with how precise and clean your scratch building is. Keep up the exceptional work. -
Lucky your still in the early stages of paint, which will make it an easy fix. I painted the 65 chevelle yesterday, pics soon. 65 Impala is primed and will be painted some time over the weekend. Hey Virgil, where you at with your Ranchero build??
-
X2 Cant wait to see your paint work Mark.

Try a dog leg bend instead of the hoop. Or if there is more room for the hoop/dog leg do a regular style opening. It will look cool to have your build with opening doors, but to me if your planning on doing an elaborate paint job it would make things easier with the door closed imo.

Mark thanks for the inspiration those paintjob's are awesome.Really like the 61 Impala. Its good to know that patterns can be done with spray cans. Il get the 65 Chevelle and 65 Impala completed then il attempt a paint job with panels and stripes/line's. Yeah Virgil you and Mark have convinced me,il start looking around for dual action airbrush.
-
Wow,Virgil thats some very impressive paint work. Thanks for the inspiration. Would love to see you finish the 65 Impala and Starliner. You are with out a doubt convincing me I need to invest in a quality airbrush and some HOK paints for sure.
-
Thanks Virgil,
-
Thanks for the advice and suggestions Virgil. Yeah I kinda figured layered graphics with fades etc would be un-acheiveable with spray cans. I was thinking just multi coloured panels and lines might be possible.
-
Cool. Hinge material 1/32 brass rod and 1/16th aluminium tube. Thanks Virgil. Im waiting and hoping you and Mark will inspire me to step out my comfort zone and try to do some patterns on a build. Only thing is il have to do it with spray cans as I dont have a quality airbrush, but was hoping you guys could show your techniques of laying down tape and show the process of multi colour layered patterned paint jobs. I know il be limited by using spray cans, but im willing to try. And thanks James, I always try to present my builds as clearly I can. Yeah another new subject and more than likely will post up a couple more before I finish one.lol I need to get a few builds going and painted because winter is not far away over here in Aus.
-
Once again thanks for the additional comments Yeah me too, would be a sweet ride to cruise around in for sure
-
A very small update on the 65 Impala. Got wheels temporarily mounted and the ride height set, very rough mock up pics.
-
Cant wait to see your paint work Mark, could you please show a step by step on how you go about it. Yeah im really enjoying building Lowrider's lately thats for sure.Hopefully the 65 Impala turns out ok. Glad ive inspired you Niko, hope to see you join in on this c.b and look foward to seeing what subject you choose.
-
Update on the Chevelle, kinda at a stand still the weather (rain) has been holding me back from apply the paint. So I figured il get another build started while Im waiting. 65 Impala, not much progress. Just test fitting and planning things out the moment.Should have wheels fitted and ride height set tomorrow.

Thanks Mark, hope to see some more progress of your build soon. Thanks Niko, its nice to know someone other than me likes my build style.lol Zac. Appreciate you keeping track of my builds, cheers mate.
