It's nice to see you do this. I understand his reaction to resin. One of my coworkers developed a similar reaction and had to step away from his side business. All I can say is for everyone to use please use at least breathing protection when dealing with resin, especially the dust from sanding. When I sand parts, I feel like I have a cold for a couple of days.

29 Ford Model A p/u with California street choper 1/25 scale
oldcarfan replied to Jack L's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I've got two built 29 Fords and a couple of kits in boxes, but I'll buy another for that motorcycle. I'd love to see Revell Parts Pack releases of all those old motorcycles, I imagine they see better sales if they tie them to a vehicle kit. I have several AMT kits that I bought just for the extras. Here's hoping this reissue sells well enough to have them retool the BSA and Triumph. -

I don't know what parts you might get, but I know they will be good quality! -
As a kid, I built pretty much anything. Cars, planes, ships, whatever. for a while in my 30s I built some ship and boat models for customers. I've only owned a few of them, but I'm currently pretty much interested only in cars, particularly European cars, I do love Porsches and have more kits than I'll probably ever finish. I do have occasional side-quests into 60s-70s American cars and trucks and vintage road racing stuff but it's more as a change of pace.

What did you see on the road today?

While on the way to Austin Texas yesterday I managed to get a shot of a Land Rover in its native territory. -

My first choice is the 73-79 F series Fords, but I hope Mobius already has that in its sights. But as far as the Square Body Chevy and GMC line, I'd say start with the 73-80 version, and then maybe the 81-87 at a later date. Just like Mobius does, I'd hope to see both 2WD and 4WD versions in short wheelbase and long wheelbase. The Monogram and MPC shortbed and stepside kits are okay, but getting old. -
2024 Cannonball Run "Resto-mod" Official Finished Builds

#17 The Night Train Ford Explorer- This is my entry based on the Revell 1997 Ford Expedition. As for the name, I try to have a theme for my projects, and in this case, the concept for me was of two young talented motorheads wanting to do something other than hang out with their buddies. Celebrating a Lottery win, they decided to enter the Cannonball. They wanted something that wouldn't catch the attention of law enforcement. They bought a solid but well-used 99 Expedition off MarketPlace and painted it gray for low vis night running. For go-power, they bought a wrecked Coyote Mustang from CoPart. In the back they added two fuel cells, a 44 gallon central fuel cell and a 15 gallon secondary. Add to that the original 26 gallon stock tank, and they have a total of 85 gallons of hi-test gas. To keep an eye on law interference, they set up a full suite of surveillance equipment that they could run off an iPad. The base kit is a Snaptite, in other words, a curbside. It is and original issue which I pulled it out of a very old storage box. Just to emphasize, it had a Hobby Lobby sticker for $8.99 and a clearance sticker for $2.99. Haven't seen prices like that in a while. Needing a little more detail, I opened up the hood and made plans to do some work. After buying a Revell 1997 F-150 Extended Cab for extra parts, I found the cab and frame from a Lindberg F-150 and raided the parts box for a front suspension and engine bay. The front bumper is a favorite part for me. I sectioned it horizontally, added an 1/8th inch and cut openings for the driving lights. For the interior, I used the prisoner partition from a Ford Expedition police kit along with some pieces from a Lindberg Crown Vic police car. The seats, steering wheel, and wheels and tires are from a Welly Porsche GT3RS. The engine is from Texas 3D and is a Voodoo Coyote twin turbo which should be able to keep even this flying brick of a truck at a steady above 120 mph pace. The paint is Rustoleum Gloss Dark Gray which turns out to be a close match to a special order Porsche color called Schwarzgrau. Not part of the entry, but because no Cannonball is complete without a pre-runner, I also did a Mustang in the to pave the way. -

I wouldn't say no to this kit if they have the molds! I also wonder if they have the Monroe Handler Mustang II street racer? -
Any Sign Of the AMT 1977 Camaro?

In comparing the pictures, the MPC kit is definitely the one I'd like to see them do. Nice build by the way! -

I figure it's probably a fiberglass kit on a newer Mercedes chassis. Something fun to hotrod. -
While I love and build 60s-70s models, my youth was more the 80s-90s Rad period. My memories of the muscle cars was more when they had been through a few owners, rusty, dented, with lots of Bondo, a cueball shifter from Western Auto, Montgomery Ward mags and offbrand wide tires. For newer cars, I more remember the Miami Vice exotics, or the everyday Omnis, Escorts, and Civics. If you had gas money back in those days, you might get a third gen Camaro, or Foxbody Mustang. I'd even buy models of the proto-SUVs like the Cherokee and Bronco II or those raised roof Chevy vans with the captain's chairs, shag carpet, and bay windows cut into the sides. Sorry, I fell into a nostalgia rant, I'm better now.

Just me, but I totally approve of what they are doing with this cloning kit thing. I wonder if it's cheaper to do than the old fashioned way? I bought four of the Chevy II wagon and I'll be doing the same with these. I asked about the chrome bumper 77 Camaro in another post, and it would be nice if they'd do this with some of the MPC kits as well. It would be nice to see that Camaro and a Firebird in a base model, maybe even another small bumper Pinto and Vega.

I have most of a 1/24th 76 Camaro somewhere but I think it was set up as a motorized kit. Maybe an Otaki or Fujimi? -

After seeing these pictures, I remember now why I preferred the MPC kits. That AMT kit just doesn't look quite right does it? I do remember being given some unbuilt kits as a kid, including an MPC Pinto and an AMT Pinto. I saved them and built them over a summer when school was out. I remember the MPC being the much better kit. -
Days of Thunder Sequel Maybe

I suppose the Tom Cruise angle might bring in viewers but I'm not sure NASCAR is still a big draw. At least for me, I sort of gave up on that around 2010. -

Thanks for that! I'll have to get one. Maybe they'll do a GMC variant later and do the blue and white one from Jaws II. I already have plans to get the Blazer, the VW, and a Camaro. It looks like the Camaro might be easliy turned into an RS. -

I still have some of the last reissues of this pickup kit, but I'll buy another for that motorcycle kit! I hope they either can find the original Triumph kit molds, too, or that they decide to clone it. I'd sure buy a few of a double motorcycle kit.
