Some are, but most I've seen are pretty much unassembled promos. Just judging from this GT90 and from the recent AMT Chevy truck, they are simple but look accurate.

A couple of freebies today. They were in a junk pile. The boxes have been wet and the parts will need to be washed, but it looks like everything is there. What's funny is last year I wanted to buy a GT90 but gave up because eBay was too expensive.

What did you see on the road today?
oldcarfan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw a Kia Amanti today for the first time in a long time in traffic and then at a store. This one was spotless, no dents, and the paint and interior looked brand new. Not a car you see very often anymore. Just proof that rarity doesn't always equal high prices. -
This is the start of my 2025 Cannonball entry. I'm using an old ESCI Golf Rally kit that I got from a now closed hobby shop. Just an FYI, it seems this is the same kit that was released by AMT a few years back. When I opened the box, it seems I had painted it gray and then put it back in the box. The paint was smooth but cracked so I polished it a couple weeks ago. I've been sick for two weeks now with something that isn't COVID, but won't go away. Anyway, today I pulled out the last can of Model Master Go Mango that hasn't sprung a leak on the bottom. It went on nicely, and I so wish Testor's would get their act straight and reintroduce their Model Master line! With the body painted, I won't be quite so tied to the weather so maybe I can get started on the engine.

2025 Cannonball Run - 50 years since the 1975 run.
oldcarfan replied to Mattilacken's topic in Community Builds
I made a start today. This morning I got some paint on the entry. I used the last of a can of Model Master Go Mango as it resembles a real color offered by Volkswagen back in the day. We should have temperatures in the 50s the rest of the week so I'll try to do a bit more before the weather cools again this weekend. -

The Future of Revell...for 2024 at least.
oldcarfan replied to niteowl7710's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There is a niche to be filled since Testor's is abandoning the market. I'd love to see Revell step in and introduce a line of proper auto colors and gloss coats in spray and bottles in a plastic friendly lacquer or acrylic. -

And Revell has a Jaguar XKE on the shelves just waiting to donate it's suspension! -
Coming this year from Atlantis models
oldcarfan replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I love they are able to rerelease these kits. There's a lot of nostalgia tied up in that tooling. I doubt they'll reach the point where they are able to do their own tooling for new releases, but who knows? -

Nevermind, I changed the search terms and found my answer. Delete if you would. -
You have done an amazing job on this rough kit! It seems like all the Monogram kits from the 80s are hi-riders. I built one of the Diablos back in the day and it looked like it was set up for mud bogging. How did you get the stance so close?

Revell: Stranger Things; Billy´s Chevy Camaro
oldcarfan replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I love the MPC Camaro kit especially the widebody IMSA release, but this redo of the Monogram kit looks pretty sweet. I can't wait for it to hit the shelf. Glad to see they filled in the T-top as I never had much luck filling them in. -
Love to see these! It's about time for those IMSA Mustangs to make another release.

Nice build, those Monogram Exotic kits really turn out nice and your's is exceptional. I wonder who owns the tools for that series? Maybe Atlantis of Revell can rerelease them.

That's nice! Good idea to use the Cobra as a start, should be good for long distances and high speeds. lol -

Looks like some good progress is being made. I'm still out with the bug. It's not flu or Covid, so at least that's something. Just started a round of antibiotics. I checked the paint on my entry and it's dried enough that I managed to get it polished to a decent level. -
Excellent find, I'm envious! The Craftsman kits were basically an unassembled promo. Lots of good surface detail, and they really build up nice as curbsides. I'd love to see them reissued.

2025 Cannonball Run - 50 years since the 1975 run.
oldcarfan replied to Mattilacken's topic in Community Builds
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, our vehicles and technology except for wheels/tires, should be something available in or before 1975. That's not as limiting as it sounds though. Lots of good go fast stuff available back then. In researching ideas I found that Penske's Trans Am team bought Porsche 917 disc brake systems, stamped them with AMC part numbers, and used them for their Javelins. There were no laptops or cell phones or satellite navigation apps, but rally teams had accurate analog navigation systems and CBs worked pretty well for avoiding traffic and Smokey. For my build, I've found that by 1975 German tuners were already switching Audi and Porsche parts into early Golfs to boost handling and performance. -
Who was building in the 60s?
oldcarfan replied to OldNYJim's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A little before my time, but I remember my uncle built and that's what eventually got me into it. He built actual race cars for the local short track racers. Most of the models he built were the cheap Palmer kits featuring sprue roll cages, painted with Testor's brush paints and with dents courtesy of his cigarette lighter. I started mostly in the late 70s when I was a kid and kept at it off and on ever since. -
