NICE WORK! Love to see another caddy hearse/ambulance being worked on. This is going to be GOOD!
-
Some of the cloth headliner visible here...
-
Thanks! Almost done with this, still have some BMF to do on the front fender lines and Caddy logo, not to mention the door handles. Also, the plates have been given a healthy shot of gloss aluminum so they will look nicer when I put them on. I had to add a bit of glue to the rear shark fins to get them to glue to the body to get rid of the gap they have, so a big rubber band is now wrapped front-to-back holding them up tight. Here's the next set of pics (Don't worry! I still have to polish her up to get rid of the bleeping cat/dog hair that she seems strangely attracted to. Good thing I already brushed Future on the car body to protect the paint. Ohh, the joys of pet ownership...) The resin casket, sprayed with Gloss Aluminum, Bare Metal Silver, and a fogging of Light Gunmetal...

Done side... Other side picture from last night...

Thanks again! Ok... so... I finally get done foiling the other side of the hearse except for the long piece mid door, and I decide to take a small break from BMF and install the rest of my windows. I pop them in along with the curtains, then take dark red tee shirt cloth, cut it to shape, and glue it in for the headliner. In the morning I finished up the front and rear areas of the car (except for the long chromelines on top of the front fenders, I'll get those later on...), and let everything dry. I go to start fitting the body, tub, and chassis together and I find out I can't get the front to sit down all the way! Grrr,,,,,, I take it apart and put it back together a few times before I find out it's the freaking firewall not sitting high enough for clearance. Also, the interior partition is not sitting correctly with the lower partition and also needs adjustment. I take things apart once more and SNAP! BOTH front wheels break off the suspension! Blankety-blank-blank-flimsy-little-so-and-so..... So... now I have to make up a static suspension that will hold together nice and snug like it's supposed to, AND not look crooked, bowed, or otherwise out of alignment. Yay! Pics to come later... once I extricate myself from this dilemma....

Mad Max Aoshima "1st Movie" conversion kit
Drake69 replied to Drake69's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I didn't get that yet but serious condolences for the family. 22 is WAY TOO YOUNG for something like that. I feel for what her family has to go through now. -
Thanks Carl! Couldn't sleep yet, so I completed the BMF on the driver's side and installed the windows, curtains, landau rod, and logo. Whoops, need to trim off that last sliver of foil from the back, LOL! I also noticed the kit comes with full windows for the front driver's and passenger's sides of the hearse. What I didn't like is that it includes the pillar "triangle" with them, so they'd have to be used no matter what (it would look silly leaving them off and have no glass for the pillars). Rather than doing that, I cut clear acetate in larger triangle shapes, one for each side, then used MKK to glue them in place. Now I can leave the windows down! I'll tackle the BMF on the other side of the car, the front fenders, and the back door tomorrow. I'm going to leave the side fenders and back roof trim off as I don't like the "too chromed" look like that. More tomorrow.

So here I am trying to BMF my Johan Hearse, and the rear door I had already installed keeps popping open, slowing down my progress. I start to get frustrated and reach for my masking tape, but then get a little leary as I don't want any glue tape to mar my nice finish. I sit at the desk, mulling things over, when I remembered I've used silly putty before to keep things like removable truck bed covers from falling off my models. I take a small amount, less than a pinch, and tuck it against the inside sill of the door frame and it does the trick, making the door close snugly. Now, if only silly putty came in colors? YES, it does! It may not match your model colors EXACTLY, but at least it won't look like Pepto Bismal pink is trying to ooze out of the car. AND, it comes in BLACK (even with magnetic properties!!) . . . (P.S. - everyone else may already have known this trick, but sometimes it's the thrill of discovery that makes this hobby so much fun!!!)

Johan Hearse - Mounting the firewall?
Drake69 posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ok. If I follow the instructions to the letter (and these aren't exactly the best instructions to follow anyway...), it says to mount the firewall to the tub at the front, but there is no indicators on the front that tells me exactly where. I wouldn't know how far left right up or down, and I just know that if I don't get it right it won't set the body on correctly. NOW.... there ARE slots inside the body that line up to the tabs on the sides of the firewall so that it fits like it's suppose to, BUT this is not what the instructions say to do. Who's built this kit before that can say which is the right way to do it? I have half a mind to mount it inside the body using Micro Krystal Klear glue and see if it shifts around when I attach the engine\chassis to it. -
Sitting next to the Johan Ambulance kit... (more on that later...) Forward shot of the stance... Interior shot with body (need to polish the body up a bit...) Shot of the rear area...

I've been looking at those too, but I'm looking for more modern ones. The wooden ones are what are called "toe pinchers" because they are narrow at the bottom. Dullcoat toned down the back area quite nicely... A better pic of the casket... Steering wheel now detailed... Test fitment...
-
Thanks! Casket is a 1/25 scale resin piece that I got off of fleaBay. It's pretty rough and is going to take some sanding and filling to make it look better.
-
Adding detail to the bay area (planning on hitting it with Dullcoat to dim it down some...) Resin casket test fit... That casket is going to take A LOT of cleanup to get it to look right!! Dash in place... More to come.
-
Cadillac Blue engine... Blue is actually darker than that, it's just catching the light of the flash. Interior test shots... One more set...
-
Decided to get this one going. I've been too busy playing with snap-together kits and want to get back into more challenging stuff. What I've achieved so far... Tamiya Gloss Black with Flat Black vinyl top... Burgundy interior... More coming...

What cars interest you in resin 1/25
Drake69 replied to 5.0man's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'd like to see... New Ghostbusters Hearse Ecto-1 (or an 80's hearse kit) ...actually, a decent 60's or 70's hearse kit or transkit would also be awesome... Mad Max 1st Movie Interceptor (with parts to convert it to Road Warrior style if needed, including PE details and dog!) Mad Max 1st Movie Big Bopper Interceptor (with decals to convert it to The Dark One/Max Rockatansky) Holden Monaro Custom V-8 (the Night Rider)
