Yes mate, exactly like that. Excellent stuff this. -
Great looking build. Such a typically American design.

Another "Convoy" Truck!

Jürgen, it looks brilliant. The amount of engineering going into this is impressive. To answer your question the rear suspension needs to be as in the middle photo with the radius arms to the front. -
I'm a trailerholic

Would you believe it's only just turned warm and dry enough to paint in the garage. I bought this stuff in local cheapo shop (B&M for the UK participants) for £4 a tin. Primered the trailer and it looked a bit dark never mind. Applied the white topcoat and it went on so smooth and glossy I was impressed except for the fact that it turned PINK! Just like the red plastic effect. You can see it in the difference between the rear shutter and the masking tape. I was so looking forward to having the white roller shutter framed by the aluminium shell and the ali side rails. I couldn't park it near a proper white trailer. There must be so much red in the "grey" primer. Tried a few coats but nothing helped. Slept on it and revisited it in daylight - awful. The poor thing had lost its self respect. I decided the only option was it had to go silver. Such a shame, it would have looked brilliant otherwise. Fortunately the aluminium saved the day although there's that much paint on it now it's in danger of becoming a Trailmoblob rather than a Trailmobile. -

Thanks mate, it's usually cheaper than dealing with the eBay 'box traders'. Here's the same kit being sold 'sealed in the box', (of which I don't see the point, might as well be a collection of plastic shrapnel) £100! No thanks. The only thing I'm missing is the decals. -

That's going to be interesting. Looking forward to seeing it come together. You always turn out outstanding jobs. -

Painted my modified wheels a nice weathered aluminium. I think they look fine, make the rear tandems look beefier. -

I haven't seen that trailer built for a while. Looking forward to seeing you put it together. -

I needed another project....T800

I'd say seek help for your addiction but I'm suffering exactly the same problem. I've got that many projects on the go now I can't remember where I am up to with each one. If you do manage to get help give me their details. -
Thanks mate. I must admit I do get a buzz from it. Classic K100 look about it, just what I intended.

Certainly does stretch the mind thinking of what each one needs and thinking about how go about it. For instance, I didn't want to do my usual crossbar mounting for the mudflaps because the rear crossmember is just too good. I therefore fitted 2mm tube to the rear spring brackets to act as sockets then cut & bent a big paperclip to carry the flaps. For the moment the flaps are 0.5mm sheet hung with a loop of electricians tape. The quarter fenders are good as they are so they can stay. I'm very happy with the look, so much better. This is so I can bear to look at it while it waits in line to be done. -

Excellent pair of frames there mate, they look great. Always impressed with your jobs. Is that Detroit the one I've discovered in the Ford LTL9000? I'm thinking of learning to cast pieces just to cast this engine or maybe even just the transmission because in cabovers their often visible. -

Got my fifth wheel gudgeons fitted and got it mounted on the slider bridge. Might do some detailing to the underside later. The truck is gradually getting it's dignity. -

I wanted to do some painting today but the weather was freezing cold and I didn't want to risk a whole trailer "blooming" so I resorted to making the first steps on the Ford. Cut the fifth wheel mount off and built a new slide plate. I'll finish the fifth wheel tomorrow. I had to create two new axles from brass and aluminium rods. I cut the back out of the outer tyres which means the rim can sink into the right depth within the tyre. Then, using two 3mm strips of plastic I formed a new wheel rim. They look good. Also trimmed the ducktail off the chassis. Transforms the stance. -

Nice little memory there mate. Here in UK mine wouldn't be quite so romantic, mine would be full of ERFs, Leylands, Fodens etc... I hope you are pleased with the end result. I've longed to build Sonny's truck for so many years and I just hope I feel satisfied with it. W900s were just like something from another world to a 10year old on the UK when Movin' On came on the TV, and I've loved them ever since. I want to do Will & Sonny justice, how daft is that! Daft means innocently silly/stupid by the way. ? -

I'm hoping to get some painting done as the weather improves. I've got quite a queue waiting for the paint shop. -

I can't get over this little Detroit, it's fantastic for the scale and the fact that it's a snapper! If only ERTL had been involved with these kits longer we might have had some great 1/32 stuff and I could have a life! -

??So am I! -
Just got this off eBay for £20. It was really grotty, mould growing on the dusty chassis. Realised that it should have a tilting hood because there's a fantastic little Detroit V8 and Fuller transmission underneath. At last, a 1/32 kit with an engine! I separated the hood using nail varnish remover to soften the super glue. Gave it a good bath too. Snapped the front axle twice in the process. Someone has already replaced the undersize AMT wheels and tyres. First thing is to lose the ducktail on the chassis. Then research the underhood arrangements. Correct the 5th wheel and make it a functional slider. Reinforce the front axle. The list is endless.

I know what you mean Doug. I spend half of my time crawling around the floor looking for stuff I've dropped.
