  1. I use a few of the commercial solutions, but made some using distilled water and vinegar.
  2. What about Evergreen? I'm pretty sure I have bought that at one of the LHS here.

    58 Edsel.

WOW!! You had problems with this build? Fabulous work!!
  4. Like this'un http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/general-equipment/x-acto-knives-and-blades/specialty.htm?utm_source=google
  5. MAN !!That is some fabulous work! Keep at it.
  6. "that is the reason to only buy from them at shows or off ebay." Really? The BEST thing to do is NOT buy from them at all, ANYWHERE.
  7. Get a second body(junker works well) and use just the doors from it. Cut the doors out small from the primary body and fit & file the donor doors to the primary body. Glue in some support strips to stiffen the body while removing the doors.
  8. Platinum RTV is very finicky when it comes to inhibtion in curing. Are you pouring it against vinyl or rubber tires?
  9. Modelhaus did or still does.
  10. If your "passionate" about a hobby, wouldn't it stand to reason that you find it "fascinating"?
  11. I remember seeing (over the years} many people in the resin aftermarket selling at shows, while on internet forums such as this, people were complaining that they were waiting on product for months.
  12. I've never understood the "I never enter contests/shows"(whatever you want to call it). This hobby is rather isolated to begin with, why wouldn't you at least want to display what you find as a fascinating pastime. And I highly disagree with you can't say you "build for yourself "and then enter contests or displays. If I SAY that I build for myself( or my own approval),that's My belief. You can challenge that, but you'll never convince ME otherwise.
  13. For me it's probably a Scale Dreams Corvette Indy. It was listed as a BIN for 300.00. I deliberated for about 3 seconds before jumping on it.
  14. Old news, but good to know about. There is also some products out there like Hydro-span that does similar effects.
  15. Then let me add FEENIX to this list.Ozzy and I did a trade. Kits for a compressor. He packed it well and shipped it fast. Completed a trade with rhs856 (Randall Lyon) and with Miatatom(Tom Shirley) and all went well
  16. Long ago in SAE there was an article detailing that.
  17. Not to argue the point, but whether electric or belt driven, most water pumps are external. Before the one in the link above, Jabsco was one used a lot in the early years. That one that bolts to the stock configured water passages is pretty slick.
  18. I have a couple of wall mounted acrylic cases by Carney Plastics. By themselves they are fairly dust free. Add some weather stripping and I'm sure they could be dust free. I live in AZ and we have DUST!!
  19. Your taking a BIG chance attempting to spray anything with those from the can( if they even will). I have decanted very old spray cans and used the paint thru an airbrush with usually great results. Where/how were the cans stored?
  20. Don't forget that most of the paint strippers like SC work better when warm.
  21. NEATO!! I like it,I keep toying with the notion of a bubble topped California
  22. If you don't get/use vacuum to de-air the rubber,Mix small quantities at a time and pour in the mold box. Works best with a rubber that has a long cure time. Pouring in a small stream from a few feet above the mold box helps too.
  23. Thank you Danno. After almost "expiring" 4 years ago I feel this is my 4th birthday!
  24. I do remember that the roof piece with the door openings was one of the parts and the doors.
  25. You can modify a standard x-acto knife by widening the slot the blade slips in and then it will accept two blades and you'll get a small space between them. You still have to run the blade along a straight edge. I've also seen a tool for this in Micromarks catalog.
