  1. Please, no heavy coats. You do have to lay down a wet coat, but do that by getting in close with the can and moving it very quickly.
  2. It's not that hard to separate the tub sides by scribing with the back of a #11 blade. It is tedious though.
  3. Nice build of one of my favorites. Got about halfway on one of mine. It sits in a box for now. Just think how much influence Elvis had, as this car was sprayed red for opening scenes in one of his movies.
  4. I still don't get all thsi "it is a pain to clean" stuff. Run an ounce of thinner of the proper kind, put in the next color, give it a quick spritz and spray. What am I missing?
  5. Gentle heating, gentle pushing,a prayer, and a plunge in ice cold water. Good Luck
  6. "Well it would have been nice if someone would have told me that Tamiya primer and Testors one coat laquer DON'T MIX." We may have IF you would have asked BEFORE you painted. I believe I have sprayed One Coat over Tamiya White primer with no problem.
  7. My sympathies go out to you as I am reminded of losing My German Shepherd about this time last year.
  8. Here's another tip.If you are using an airbrush.Once you have good color coverage hopefully with one thin coat,Hit the high spots with a little extra.Areas that you think you may polish thru.Do the same with the clear also.
  9. Bondo Two part putty comes in a tube, and works quite well thank you. It is about the smallest amount of two-part putty you can get. I also like epoxy glue.I use the 30-minute type and mix it with Micro-balloons and apply it and let set for about 24 hours. It sands easy too. I also use Magic-Sculpt and have done some wild stuff with it. I need to take some pics of the latest thing I did.
  10. Before I would give any advice I'd want to see the original listing. If everything is as you say, here's something I saw one dissatisfied buyer do. He photographed the model he received along with the original sellers description and put on ebay as an auction. The seller contacted him shortly after the auction hit and agreed to refund the money.
  11. "The BIGGER the government, the smaller the citizen" Just say NO to the Pols
  12. I use Squadron white sometimes, but in very thin layers. Tamiya white is also good, but not as readily available in Hobby Stores as Squadron. Any solvent based putty is bad if misused. It should be used very sparingly, and never be glopped on real thick.
  13. The clear coat on the left in the picture has turned amber and if you apply that over white it will cast an amber tint to any white or light color. The bottle on the right is okay, but if applied to white it will eventually do the same thing. It will yellow. I'd avoid both(over any light color) and use Testor's 1261 Lacquer clear spray that is formulated safe for enamels if that is all that is available to you. BTW,you didn't mention what TYPE of paint the white panels,or the rest of the model will be painted with.
  14. If you insist on drilling out the top of a distributor, try one large hole and bunch the wires (8,6.whatever) into that hole.Drilling out several holes individually is tough.try center punching the holes evenly first THEN attempt to drill.
  15. Do you mean wheels made of steel,or wheels in plastic or resin that represent stock type wheels?
  16. I thought it was for something exotic....like a air speed sensor or something.... VERY nice build, and conversion to a sedan.
  17. I don't know about the latest, but the Revell kit to get would be the one with the black car w/flames on it.
  18. Most anything you drag thru the line now,you run the risk of chipping the adjacent paint. The safest tool to use would be a very thin PE saw. If you do this before the paint cures hard,it may lessen the chance of paint damage.
  19. Yes! Actually the New tool issue by Revell is miles ahead of the issue you have, however the issue you have was tooled in the late 50's early 60's and aside from the multi-piece body is supposedly quite accurate. Stock wheels should be easy enough to find, and you'll need stock hubcaps.
  20. Easily 3-4 months with Perry's. You are not alone with...
  21. Testor's clear with either a 1260 or 1261 # are rattle can lacquers that are enamel safe.Just don't apply the entire can in one sitting. This also comes in bottles if you are using an AB.
  22. The glass jars will fit if the threads match up. IF you mean will the tops with the part that fits into the opening on the brush will fit ...Maybe .Some tops have different angles and may put the at a bad angle.
  23. I guess this is just a way of respecting those you idolize. When I parked Alice Cooper at an event, the only thing I said to him was "could you back up and straighten out?"
