  1. You really know your MoPars I specified 1972 Valiant , as I know that ti was the only one which survived . The original made-for-television "Movie of the Week " was shown in Novembre 1971 ; its popularity sparked interest in a theatrical-length version , hence the necessity of commendeering a new Valiant . As many times as I've watched Duel in its 42 years of existence (I'm 44 years old) , I've noticed the following Valiants : 1.) A 1970 with a V8 ( has the 'V-EIGHT' emblems on the front fenders , an exclusive-to-1970 models) 2.) 1971 with 225 Slant 3.) 1972 with 225 Slant Every car featured : 1.) FE5 Red paint 2.) Deluxe two-tone brown / tan interior 3.) 1971-only , Plymouth-only W11 deluxe wheel covers I can't imagine that many red 1970-1972 VL41's were produced , which begs the question : were any / all of the cars painted by the motorpool crew ? I know that Speilberg wanted the car to be "underpowered and red" .
  2. You're quite welcome
  3. I "pre-ordered" ( is that like "pre-heat" ? ) one from 'Roundup . Their due date is posted as Novembre ; however Round2's page asserts Octobre .
  4. From every-thing I've read in the last 25 or so years , both of those bikes were destroyed during filming . I'd be really impressed if some-one found the 1972 Valiant from Duel . It wasn't harmed / destroyed during the filming of the added scenes ...
  5. Yep ! Gotta pull-back on that stupid , pointless 'boot' , otherwise the pump keeps clicking-off !!
  6. Some of their offerings are really nice . I bought some relatively-generic weatherstripping for my then-daily driver Coronet ; the driver's door sealling had fossilised and was allowing all sorts of leak-through. Now , I can get 2 door hardtop (read : Charger / Satellite / Road Runner , et al.) weatherstripping all day long , but no one was making 'stripping for sedans and wagons . I bought enough+extra 'generic' weatherstripping , plus a tube of 3M adhesive , and went to town . I'm happy to report that 7 years later , the material is still as good as the day I installed it .
  7. That programme is so much fun ! A bunch of quick-witted humour and outright siliness . Reminds me of a cross between Seinfeld (quick humour and tie-ins to earlier episodes) and Married ... With Children (obviously because of Ed O'Neill [sp] , but also because of the family-structure formulae ). Cam reminds me of Dom DeLuise [sp] .
  8. My '72 Coronet sedan is that way (as are all 1971-1978 Dodge / Plymouth B-bodies) . I like it ! No concerns about getting "C-blocked" at the pump , as you're always on the ideal island / pump , as the filler's centre-mounted . The downside is here in California ; those stupid vapour recovery nozzles' "boots" require one to babysit the fuel dispenser ; force is some-time required to keep the flippin' nozzle from flailling-out of its position !
  9. California's stupid , pointless Vapor Recovery (gasoline pump) Nozzles made filling those kinds of vehicles a royal pain !!!!
  10. Modern Family ! The Lilly-cusses-when-Cameron-cries episode !
  11. Good eye ! Until I looked at the pics in their larger size , I thought that the colour behind the J6 was just oxidised metal .
  12. The thing which I find *odd* about this car : FJ6 green on a pre-Spring 1970 build , especially from the relatively-obscure Los Angeles (City of Commerce) Plant ! Its sequence number is low ; I wonder what its actual build date was ; where it was sold new ...
  13. Starting with the 1972 model year , engines' power ratings were changed from gross to SAE net . The primary difference between the two rating systems was that net ratings were achieved by having the engine "dressed" ; water pump , pulleys , and alternator were operational on the subjective engine . It sure seemed like a raw deal ; compression dropping and new power ratings , all at once ! For instance : 1971 340 was rated at 275 hp ; but , by 1972 , the same engine (with a staggering drop in comp from 10.25:1 to 8.5 :1) was now an emasculated 240 hp . Power ratings from the factory have not --to the best of my knowledge-- ever been given in RWHP numbers.
  14. Why pontiac ventura blasting not ?
  15. or even the GT's obscure little brother , the 'S-23 ' ; the 383 Hi-Po was its top engine .
  16. My parents' 1969 Dart 'Custom' (trim level) 2 door hardtop . 273 / 904 , AM radio , etc. It was a gift in 1971 to my parents . My paternal grandmother stopped driving (age 75) , so she gave it to us . It was the family car from 1971 - 1976 (kept until 1985) , when its 'family' status was upstaged by a ... 1976 Mercury Monarch . 2 door coupe , Ghia edition . 351-W . Silver , cranberry-coloured leather interior , with a silver Landau top . Bought new in March 1976 . The odd thing about that car was that it had no sound system from the factory (!!) . An upscale , $6,000 car ... and no radio ! Whittier Radio & Television ( 213-OX.-89451) was chosen to install an AM/FM / 8-Track , speakers , and antenna .
  17. Mike Foxer , that is one handsome companion !! There's just some-thing about male Red Tabbies . Al Tubbs , Through myt experiences , I've recognised that Calico and Tortiseshell cats (98% of them are female) are the best hunters ! Dan DieselDawg142 , Pigs do make for great pets ! There was a Norweigen family ( I was friends with their children , my peers ) whom had a pig as a pet . Tripped me out the first time I saw it ! It was very friendly ; it liked spending time on the couch with me (and other visitors whom weren't afraid of it ... ha ha ha) . Here's a photo of Skully , a friends' kitten . He's half Scottish Fold , half British Shorthair
  18. You're on the right path ; it's a music performance programme . Hint # 1 : The show's name and set changed in 1973 .
  19. (hint : a programme which showcased popular music acts)
  20. "Smoke 'em if you've got 'em !" 1952 DeSoto steering wheel with a centre-mounted cigarette dispenser !
  21. I'm a life-long California resident ; I constantly see that 'New Formula' b.s. , and every time , I become irritated !! If I can , I'll go to great lengths to avoid products with a "-50" or a "-CA" in its part number ...
  22. Blues Brothers (1980) . Scene inside "Bob's Country Bunker" . "You boys owe me a lot of money for all that beer you drank tonight , G** ***** !"
  23. I was going to guess that the Charger 500 grille was going to be used for a conversion to a 1971 model ...
  24. What info are you referring to , Tim ? I see both Junkman and Rob Hall replies ; am I missing some-thing ?
