Monogram 1970 Challenger T/A Rebuild-Under Glass 03-13
1972coronet replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Your JS23J0B is coming along nicely , Joe ! Beautiful work and craftsmanship ! While I adore the early 1980's Monogram Muscle Car series , their short-comings are numerous ( ) . The lack of shocks is one of the most glaring omissions ; then there's the incorrect air cleaners ( LS-6 Chevelle and 1971 "Satellite" ) ; the 3 blobs which "pass" for the trio of Holley 2300's ; and , my favourite example : the 1971 HemiCuda : - 8 3/4 rear behind a Hemi / 4-speed ?!? - No oil pump nor oil filtre - Aftermarket radio - Zero door panel detail - No shocks ! - Moulded-on and subsized exhaust But, back to your splendid 1970 T/A ... Your attention to detail is exemplery ! Keep up the great work ! -
Wow , Gene ! You have assemblled an impressive mix of Bow Ties ! Keep up the great work !

I concur ; the 1971-1972 Chevelle / Malibu just looks *cleaner* versus the 1970 model , in my opinion . Love the quad , round tail lamps , too . Years ago , I built a phantom 1972 LS-6 from the AMT 1972 SS-454 (LS-5 only by 1972) . The stock SS wheels included in the kit (vis-a-vis 1970 Z-28 origins , in "1:1" ) , painted in Gunze's Burnt Iron ; Tamiya gloss black ; Krylon semi-flat black interior ; and no stripes . Wish that I had some pics of it ... But , I divulge . That's one gorgeous 1972 convertible SS-454 ! Last year of the A-Body droptops .

I remember seeing those when they were new , on the lot at O'Leary Chrysler-Plymouth-Imperial in Whittier ( Ca. ) . The identifying decal was exactly the same as the 1971-1972 A-body decal ! I always liked the Rampage / Scamp . They looked so neat ! There were a couple of Direct Connection "enhanced" versions around town .

Removal of wipers
1972coronet replied to Fortheloveofgassers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not necessarily a complete answer to your inquiry ; some --if not all-- "Stock" drag classes require windshield wipers , even if the requisite homologation of 50 factory-assembled vehicles had only one for the driver's side .- 16 replies

I just noticed that ! I wonder what the Parts Pack (!!) is going to include ??? Accompanying wheels ??? I can't wait for that Blazer ! It's been on my list for 30+ years ( I just couldn't bring my-self to purchase the other M.K. issue (nothing against Model King by any means) nor that {{{shivver}}} RC-2 era reissue (and its awful box art !!!) -
What cars interest you in resin 1/25

A Transkit would work for a 1970 Duster : - 1970 grille (the Sharktooth grille was 1971-1972 only) - 1970 upholstery - Carter AVS carburetor - 1970-only stripes However , an all-new plastic kit would be the best bet ( Moebius ? Revell ? ) -

If the cap is removable , he may as well be certain to make it a correct , assembly line cap ( ) . In 1970 the SAE standard for brake fluid was J1703 , and the caps were stamped as such . Prior to that it was SAE-70 R3. The now-common "SAE DOT 3" stamped caps didn't come along until c.1975 . and not one of the replacement pieces -
Yes , and I believe that 1975 was the first year (even though the Matador's first year was 1971) . 1975 1976

Thank you Tye Hippy Dude Brown ! -
Perhaps my myopic self is missing some-thing ----did Round2 organise a list of their 2015 offerings ?? I recognise that Casey posted some reviews / contents of individual offerings from R-2 in this Car Kit News & Reviews section , but I am yet to see a comprehensive list of the 2015 kits . Round2 hasn't even updated their (wonderful) site yet ; still showcasing 2008-2014 kits only ... Please direct me to a list of R-2's proposals . Merci

What did you see on the road today?
1972coronet replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1975 Monza ( "H-Special" platform of the Vega ) . Original-issue blue / gold California licence plates ( "M"-series ; M=1975 ) . Don't know what's under its bonnet ; could be an Iron Duke , or a 3.8 litre Chevrolet , or a 262 V8 ; I have no idea ... -
Yuri- That is the finest example of a Matador that I can recall ever seeing !!! The colour combination just screams "1976 !!" The 304 / 343 / 360 AMC V8 and its Torque-Command-8 transmission are spot-on , too !! I have the 1975 and 1976 Matador annual kits in my stash ; thanks for the inspiration !

Round2 still has it on their website , albeit under the 2008 Models section . Is this kit discontinued "already" ( yes , I realise that it's now 7 years later ... ) ?? http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/60ford-starliner

I can attest to B-N-L's parts . I bought a couple of TH-400 transmissions , and they're great !

I acquired a fabulous paper cut (e.g. , slid my left index finger across a fold-over edge of a box with a brake line in it) yesterday , and , of course , it stung like mad (especially after washing my hands with pumice hand cleaner !) . There was some of the typical bleeding, but that curtailled after I irrigated the cut . I squeezed a dab of Zap-Z cyanoacrylate on the cut ; the wound responded with a burning sendation for a minute ; cut is completely healed-over today

I'm wondring how many of you collect and-or wear vintage clothing ; and , what era(s) is / are your preference(s). For me , I've long loved the 1960's Mod fashion . To wit ; I've been trolling eBay , etc. , for a pair of Renauld Sea & Ski Spectaculars , the first wrap-around sunglasses (from c.1964) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-RENAULD-Aviator-Sea-Ski-Sunglasses-Smoke-And-Silver-Mid-Century-Mod-/261736929614?pt=US_Sunglasses&hash=item3cf0bc994e I had a pair in the mid-90's , but they were stolen at a party in 1996 ( ) . I was inspired to find a pair after seeing one of my favourite musicians ( Holmes Sterling Morrison , Jr. ) wearing them (far-left in this photo from 1966) :

What's been so heavily-butchered with the D / W 100-200 Dodge Truck that makes its tooling so unworkable ? I remember that its hood was butchered ; however , was its bed "fiddled-with" too ? Can't the Little Red Express be employed for its parts , even if its only contributions are its hood and chassis ?
