  1. California's stupid , pointless Vapor Recovery (gasoline pump) Nozzles made filling those kinds of vehicles a royal pain !!!!
  2. Modern Family ! The Lilly-cusses-when-Cameron-cries episode !
  3. Good eye ! Until I looked at the pics in their larger size , I thought that the colour behind the J6 was just oxidised metal .
  4. The thing which I find *odd* about this car : FJ6 green on a pre-Spring 1970 build , especially from the relatively-obscure Los Angeles (City of Commerce) Plant ! Its sequence number is low ; I wonder what its actual build date was ; where it was sold new ...
  5. Starting with the 1972 model year , engines' power ratings were changed from gross to SAE net . The primary difference between the two rating systems was that net ratings were achieved by having the engine "dressed" ; water pump , pulleys , and alternator were operational on the subjective engine . It sure seemed like a raw deal ; compression dropping and new power ratings , all at once ! For instance : 1971 340 was rated at 275 hp ; but , by 1972 , the same engine (with a staggering drop in comp from 10.25:1 to 8.5 :1) was now an emasculated 240 hp . Power ratings from the factory have not --to the best of my knowledge-- ever been given in RWHP numbers.
  6. Why pontiac ventura blasting not ?
  7. or even the GT's obscure little brother , the 'S-23 ' ; the 383 Hi-Po was its top engine .
  8. My parents' 1969 Dart 'Custom' (trim level) 2 door hardtop . 273 / 904 , AM radio , etc. It was a gift in 1971 to my parents . My paternal grandmother stopped driving (age 75) , so she gave it to us . It was the family car from 1971 - 1976 (kept until 1985) , when its 'family' status was upstaged by a ... 1976 Mercury Monarch . 2 door coupe , Ghia edition . 351-W . Silver , cranberry-coloured leather interior , with a silver Landau top . Bought new in March 1976 . The odd thing about that car was that it had no sound system from the factory (!!) . An upscale , $6,000 car ... and no radio ! Whittier Radio & Television ( 213-OX.-89451) was chosen to install an AM/FM / 8-Track , speakers , and antenna .
  9. Mike Foxer , that is one handsome companion !! There's just some-thing about male Red Tabbies . Al Tubbs , Through myt experiences , I've recognised that Calico and Tortiseshell cats (98% of them are female) are the best hunters ! Dan DieselDawg142 , Pigs do make for great pets ! There was a Norweigen family ( I was friends with their children , my peers ) whom had a pig as a pet . Tripped me out the first time I saw it ! It was very friendly ; it liked spending time on the couch with me (and other visitors whom weren't afraid of it ... ha ha ha) . Here's a photo of Skully , a friends' kitten . He's half Scottish Fold , half British Shorthair
  10. You're on the right path ; it's a music performance programme . Hint # 1 : The show's name and set changed in 1973 .
  11. (hint : a programme which showcased popular music acts)
  12. "Smoke 'em if you've got 'em !" 1952 DeSoto steering wheel with a centre-mounted cigarette dispenser !
  13. I'm a life-long California resident ; I constantly see that 'New Formula' b.s. , and every time , I become irritated !! If I can , I'll go to great lengths to avoid products with a "-50" or a "-CA" in its part number ...
  14. Blues Brothers (1980) . Scene inside "Bob's Country Bunker" . "You boys owe me a lot of money for all that beer you drank tonight , G** ***** !"
  15. I was going to guess that the Charger 500 grille was going to be used for a conversion to a 1971 model ...
  16. What info are you referring to , Tim ? I see both Junkman and Rob Hall replies ; am I missing some-thing ?
  17. Map of Riverside International Raceway from c.1962 :
  18. My Guilty Pleasure kits are really more subject-related versus manufacture-related : - AMT 1953 F-100 - Monogram 1955 F-100 - Revell 1956 F-100 The latter of those three is an undisputed pile ... but its finer points have always sucked me back in , no matter how many failled attempts I've made over the years to assemble one that was "look-at-this" worthy ! Admittidly , my last attempt at that dinosaur was 27 years ago (!!) . I finally had its bed-to-cab-back gap dialled-in ; laid down a sweet Cherry Red paint job ; and had the Pontiac engine looking respectable ... ... then on 1st Oct 1987 @ 0742 HRS , all of that work --and about 85% of my collection-- was destroyed by an earthquake . - MPC 1973-1976 Duster and Dart Sport annuals / reissues - Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS-454 ; 1970 Boss 429 ; 1970 GTX 440 Six Barrel ; 1970 Challenger T/A ; 1969 1/2 Super Bee Six Pack ; 1971 Hemi'Cuda hardtop From their introduction in c.1982 until c.1992 , I built untold numbers and versions of those classic kits. At one point in 1986/1987 , Kay-Bee Toys was selling the Challenger and Super Bee kits for 99 cents ! That was an absolute steal even back then ! - MPC 1976-1978 Pinto and Mustang II annuals The 1976 annual was one of my very first glue kits . I was 6 years old and had finally graduated from snaps ; the 1976 Pinto Sportabout box art grabbed my attention , sitting on the shelf at the local Market Basket . IIRC , its price was $3.25 . As of recent , I've grabbed a couple of the Monogram 1955 F-100 kits ; I'm impatiently awaiting the arrival of the AMT 1953 F-100 ; and I have been toying with the idea of buying one of those dreaded Revell 1956 F-100 kits ... ... hopefully mother nature will favour my efforts with that kit this go'round .
  19. At one time I had every Black Sabbath album from 1970-1975 on 'Quad' !
  20. Like most , I watch videos on YouTube ( I especially enjoy vintage footage ) ; but unlike most , I don't have an iPod , MP3 , etc. The sound unit in my '13 Civic is quite good (although , I wish that it was equipped with a 5-8 disc changer ...) . Even with the car's windows up , every-one can hear when I'm blasting Iggy & The Stooges 'Raw Power' ! Conversely , I rather enjoy the monaural mix of Pink Floyd 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' . Its sound quality easily surpasses the stereo mix , with one exception : 'Interstellar Overdrive' ! Any-one who's familiar with that spacey instrumental will know what I'm talking about ; the whirlling , swooshing outro of that far-out tune is 'missing' from the Mono Mix . Oh , well .
  21. ChrisBcritter -That story has made its rounds --with embellishments and hyperbole-- in my hometown (Whittier) for decades . The assembly plant where he practised "Urban Valhalla" was actually in (Pico) Rivera , southwest corner of Rosemead / Washington : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_Assembly Now , on to "Jeep" ... Where to begin ? The vehicles associated with that nomenclature have been junk for decades , and were only worsened by the Daimler reign ! Front wheel drive Jeep ?!?!? You're kidding , right ? "Patriot " ?? As I'm fond of saying , "What's so 'patriotic' about a Jeep whose engine's facing the wrong direction ?"
  22. Dave , I wish to give kudos to you and your organisation ; the multi-piece 8 lug Pontiac wheels is a great idea ! Now , I'm no Pontiac expert ; those lugs appear to be slightly off in their "crown" shape . I'm not going to say a single negative word concerning the fins' spacing / thickness , as they look fine to me ! Keep up the great work !
  23. I cannot take credit for their creation ; I merely reposted a select-few phantom box art creations by other members ( and in hindsight , I should have given the respective members their dues . I hope that they accept my apology for that oversight ). Impressive representations of highly desired subjects !
