  1. I remember when this kit was a new tooling kit (35 years ago!), and was truly advanced in its tooling and details and construction. I can still remember @tim boyd's SAE review of it: "My cup runneth over! [...] too bad that the trailer shown at the... show didn't make it into production." IIRC, this kit -at least its first iteration- included a couple of options, even though I don't remember specifically what those options were (and in spite of the 3 or 4 of them I'd built back then). I'm quite looking forward to following your build of this classic!
  2. The MPC Jeep's V6 is the odd-fire 225 Buick (Dauntless, et al.) engine.
  3. I'd read somewhere that all of his castings are performed in the "pit" of a vintage outhouse.
  4. I'd totally forgotten that Len Lesser had a brief -albeit, very important and intense- role in The Outlaw Josey Wales. What are some of your favourite "surprise" roles from character actors?
  5. Season reminds me of Rimbaud's Une Saison en Enfer (A Season in Hell) **[I'd posted my reply -contribution- at the same time as @Ace-Garageguybut I'm not compelled to change it]
  6. I seem to recall that most of the C/K pickups of 1973-1987 were shod with hubcaps and low trim level models (Custom, Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale, et alia). Well, at least in the area where I grew up -- lots of fleet vehicles (batch-ordered) and "price leaders". The fancier models were showroom poodles. I, too, hope that Rookie makes a return. Lots of cool stuff that he offered! Maybe Fireball will make some sets of the c.1980-c.1991 C/K hubcaps for Chevy and GMC (and the G-vans, too).
  7. 3D scanning puts, in es, an end to that long-in-the-tooth tooling anyhow. Why hassle with purchasing rusty, worn, outdated stuff that belongs in the La Brea Tar Pits when new tooling could be created by scanning an existing kit, and improve upon the antiquities? I have an almost mint (someone glued the plastic slicks' halves together) Johan 1970 Maverick 2-in-1 that I'd be more than willing to send off to Round2 for just such a scan-and-update makeover. IIRC, it's the only issue of the Maverick which has the bench seat (moulded-in), I-6 engine, and other factory stock items. Okay, Saville, et alia, can keep their expensive paperweights (not to diminish Okay's contributions, nor to assert an ad hom. attack against him).
  8. Begs the question re: the (obvious) openings at the cab corners: Would it be possible for Round2 to include either a separate runner with a fitted filler piece and/or a template for advanced modellers to 'roll-their-own'?
  9. I'm keen on the Aqua Rod Chevy Van & Trailer. I remember seeing it at GEMCO back in the late 70's (unusual for a discount store to carry a kit in such a big box) , but couldn't get it (IIRC, it was selling for $5.00 back then vs. the $3.00 for a regular kit). Any chance the surf version (1973?) with the big block option making its return?
  10. You mention Rookie Resins, @AlbertS, so I can imagine that you're referring to the GMC "big block" V6 series (305-351, et seq.) of 1968 & earlier. There aren't any kit offerings of the big Jimmy six other than the Rookie offering. I, too, was under the impression that the Chevrolet 'W' Engine (348/409) would be a good start but I was informed that the GMC big six actually dwarfs the Chevy W!
  11. Here's a thread from upteen years ago (just over 15 years ago!):
  12. Has anyone in the U.S. seen or used Tamiya X-20 thinner? I'm referring to the enamel thinner, not the -A thinner (for acrylics). Is this formula not available in the U.S.? Is it anything "special"? My interest in it stems from my watching videos wherein the builder uses the X-20 to cleanup Panel Line Accent from the engine, etc., and interior surfaces -- something which the X-20-A is improper to use on acrylic paint surfaces (obviously). If the X-20 isn't something unique or special, then what would be good for cleanup of excess Panel Line Accent? Thanks.
  13. One of the earliest 'Pop' songs to employ the then-new Moog synthesiser (along with Star Collector on the same album). The mono edit sounds better, but this video from the TV programme is too good to not post: Also on Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, LTD is this "conspicuous" song whose topic is greatly overlooked due to its delightful musical accompaniment. Anita Mann (sounds like a nom de arte to me, but that's her true name) having fun with Davy Jones: And one more from "...& Jones, LTD"
  14. Booker T. , which eventually became The Gift.
  15. Hustle Stuff (predecessor to Direct Connection), no?
  16. The Landy '68 'Net would be a great addition. IIRC, it's a 440 Mag car; can't recall if he also campaigned a Hemi powered '68 'net -- I believe that the '68 Charger held the Hemi for those purposes. It'd be great if the fenderwell headers were to be included in the Landy SS Coronet.
  17. Very good. I had me sights set on the Fine White compound.
  18. Gorgeous Merc! Stunning example of the classic AMT kit of yore! Good call on using the kit's 413/426 Crossram engine. The car with its lovely charcoal grey metallic finish looks particularly sweet against that (dreary) Midwest autumn background.
  19. Another fantastique build in-the-works! Last of the production bore & stroke 426 hemi in P/S (IIRC) before the de-stroked 366 cube iteration (at least in No Hot Rods Allowed classes). Lettuce hope that Round2 will come through with the highly valuable MPC 1971 Demon 340... mit der upgrades to the body (correct fenders, corrected grille, better interior...) .
  20. I posted the link to Shirley's 'book page of your fantastic build of her Hornet P/S, @dragcarz
  21. I've been perusing the Milliput line and am wondering which one of their putties -more than one?- would be best for polystyrene. IF a thread/topic already exists for Milliput, please post its link(s) here, otherwise, discuss away. Thanks!
  22. The improper tenses are giveaways to me (not that I'm a master of composition or languages myself), that's if I read the email from some oraganisation with whom I don't have an account (Amazon, various banks, Apple, etc. etc.) to begin with. Another one which these benchods employ is the aggressive, automated message which starts as soon as one answers a call from some random number (and these benchods use whatever area code they can... I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognise, with maybe two exceptions.). My 91 year old uncle answered a call (same area code as where we live), and that "dire" message started off with: "A charge has been made to your Amazon account in the amount of nine-hundred dollars..." My uncle said something which I cannot repeat here, before he hung up the call.
