Because I don't know much about this industry
1972coronet replied to noname's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wasn't aware of the 1969-only "package" until fairly recently myself. I read an article about one which was sold through Nickey -- base 325hp 396, 4 speed, taxi interior, etc. It was a 1969-only offering. Next time the SS found its way onto non-hardtop two doors was 1973. -

Because I don't know much about this industry

To build upon your -- the O.P.'s -- enquiries regarding four doors and wagons: I've noticed that many four doors are most popular in Australia; not sure if wagons are; UTE's are also popular. Certainly, this doesn't speak to the U.S. market nor its manufacturers. None-the-less, the popularity of the AMT Nova Wagon belies this -- a kit which, in stock form, was thought (however correctly) to be lost forever. Its tooling was heavily modified in c.1967 to the Funny Car version which was reissued periodically until a few years ago (I'm sure that the core of that iteration is still around... someone'll correct my information, please). Perhaps one of Round2's, et alia, finest offerings is the (pending) 1968 Coronet R/T Convertible! Another long gone and highly desirable kits for absolutely decades now! AND it's a marked improvement over the original kit (MPC, 1967) in every imaginable way! IIRC, the hardtop version is due sometime in '23 as well. You're not alone in hoping for more everyday man vehicles; of more base models. The Revell 1966 Chevelle Wagon --phantom that it is with the 396/4-speed and SS bonnet-- is an excellent basis for a more pedestrian representation (6 cylinder, small V8, etc., etc.). Personally, I'd love for Revell to issue their 1968 Chevelle with a two door coupe body with 300 Deluxe (base model) interior, and throw in a correct L79 for good measure. then, likewise, the 1969 version could receive the same treatment, but with the SS-396 (the only year for the SS-396 being an option package on the two door coupe (sedan, et alia) with 'taxi cab' interior). -

I don't mind the decals if their purpose is to be applied-over an existing, cast-in emblem. It's the decals-in-place-of-emblems that bother me (or, worse yet, side marker lamps). Just too toy-like and two-dimensional ! What makes those adhesive 3D emblems so nice is that they're applied like the 1:1 versions; similar to decals: adhesive backing with a clear, non-adhesive 'cover'. Easy peasy. -

I was just thinking about those again lately. Been watching a YouTube channel wherein the builder builds many Tamiya kits (outstanding work at that). Their kits oftentimes have adhesive '3D' emblems for them, and they're awesome! Better than the cut-file-affix photoetch that're widely available! I wish that Revell, Round2, et al., would start including that setup in their kits... I'd be willing, for one, to pay a spank more for a kit which includes those '3D' emblems. Here's one of the videos with a Tamiya kit with those emblems (my word, this guy's craftsmanship is amazing!): -
Since this iteration is due for release within the next month (12/2022). I wonder if its predecessor is slated for the same?

Another point in favour of my decision to purchase the Euro version. Thanks much.

Even Chris (HPI Guy et al.) was 'surprised' to find it's a snap kit. $30+ for that ancient kit is twice as much as it "should" cost. Sure, if it were a glue kit or at least had higher parts count/more detail, it may be worth that price, but it's neither. Chris made an imitation silk purse from that sow's ear of a kit, but even then... typical Revell windscreen & backlight for that era, where the connecting 'runner' overlaps-onto the top edge of the windscreen and backlight -- no bueno! I say, send Revell a Get Off My Lawn email.

Thanks much, Raoul! Other than the two-dimensional seat belts, the sheets look identical (other than their layout). I'm going to watch the last episode of your Johan 1971, later today.

begs the question: did they still include clear lenses for the separate backup lamps, or are they moulded with the bumper?

Plastic tyres can be painted to resemble rubber tyres, oftentimes with better results than vinyl offerings. Here's a couple of (lousy) photos of the 1/32 scale Whiplash Camaro F/C which I slapped together recently. I spray painted the front and rear tyres with Tamiya Rubber, Black aerosol. I then sanded the 'treads' with a rough emery board, the black plastic becoming a dark grey (for white coloured plastic tyres, I brush Tamiya Panel Line Accents onto the treaded areas after a sandign with the rough emery board.

I'll pay a 'premium' for the Euro/Asian market version just to avoid any potential damage. Are the decals -- is the decal sheet vaster in the ROG version? That seems to be the case.

I get that -- I would have to actually witness the a-hole doing it (that's if I couldn't get to them before the act was committed). I wouldn't go off of hearsay -- I'm not that insane.

That's just plain argumentum ad populum!

My cat Buddy (1986-1992) made friends with not only feral cats, but the neighbourhood cats and raccoons and possums. I've seen in nature where Mountain Lion queens will 'adopt' orphaned Mountain Lion kittens into her brood. There's a great - albeit heartbreaking - documentary about the Wind River Mother, and trials, tribulations, and lovely moments with her three kittens (two males, one female). Here's the link to that (short) documentary: Video -The Secret Life of Mountain Lions - WildFutures

I would be serving a life sentence for premeditated murder if I caught some worthless "human" doing that to ANY domestic animal, especially one which I was close with.

1/24 Revell '79 ('81?) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

Styrene tyres can be made to look good -- if not better -- than vinyl/rubber tyres. What I do is: 1.) Primer after assembling and prepping 2.) Paint with Tamiya's Rubber, Black aerosol 3.) Sand the tread with an aggressive grit emery board 4.) Brush Tamiya Panel Line Accent: Black on the sanded areas Looks better than sanding and lightly scuffing vinyl. I did this recently on the 1/32 scale Camaro F/C, and the AMT Rat Packer Nova. I'd share pics, but the weather's been crummy lately... -

I've been pining for a Colonnade in styrene for over 30 years! Personally, I'd like to see two engine options (350 L82 and LS4 454) and two transmission options (4-speed and TH-400). -
