Nice to see the '69 Judge is being reissued. Last time I had one was back in 1989 or so -- hopefully the custom wheels from the "1968" street machine version are included in this edition. (one of the Judge's most interesting features is the brake drum 'detail' on all four wheels).

Here's a couple of (crummy cell phone) photos of the repairs I'd made to the 1971 rear bumper's sink marques (see image). I snipped some flash from one of the Petty Blue coloured runners, put a dab of cheapo CA glue in the sink marques, then placed the flash cuts over the marques. I let them dry for a few minutes, then sanded with an emery board, and finished with a sanding pad (6000 grit) which is the white reflection seen in these photos. Worked like a charm! Completely undetectable !

I recall a time when nobody wanted any vehicle produced after 1970-1971 insofar as "collector value". I used to buy Darts, Dusters, Valiants, etc., etc., for dirt cheap -- now these clowns want six-grand for something that looks like it was exhumed from a salt lake! Oh, but to think what my 1970 Ranchero GT would "fetch" at one of these auctions these days...

Nice LS23H9B there! Must be an early issue; the decals were corrected in subsequent issues (e.g., elimination of the white stripe which is not present on 1:1 copies). Was your sister-in-law's boyfriend's car a 383 GTS as well ?

I've been gradually working on my copy of this kit. While I've not assembled any of its components yet (I've just been sanding the parting lines and deepening the panel lines on the decklid, and to a lesser extent, the doors panels lines), I have noticed sink marques on the rear bumpers (both the 1971 and the 1972). Kind of off-putting. Easy fix... but I'm not planning on painting the body on my copy, so I've got to fill those marques with trimmed and shaved sprue. GREAT work you're doing here! Thanks for the heads up regarding the breathers' interfering with the bonnet. BTW, are you planning to add the trademark Petty 'peace symbol' headrest ?

No body wanted the weight penalty of a drop-top when it came to Muscle Cars [et alia]. Conversely, the top S/S champion was the Briggs Chevrolet 1970 Chevelle convertible LS-6 which ruled SS/EA. I've seen one-of-the-two (both exist, along with the remaining 9 ( 7 U.S.-spec models, 2 Canadian, 2 exports) 1971 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles which were exported to France. Likewise, I'd read about a restored '70 Hemi 'Cuda convertible which was campaigned in either SS/DA or SS/EA via cosmetic changes (1971 models shipping weight was fudged by Chrysler; 1970 was in SS/D(A), vs. 1971 in SS/E(A) ).

Gorgeous work, Francis! Perhaps I'm a bit biased here, but I've always preferred the 1972 grille to its '70-'71 predecessor. My first car was a '72 Swinger [LH23G2B307811] which I bought in 1989 for a song. I fell in love with its grille immediately -- really popped with the factory Hemi Orange paint. Keep up the great work!

They look great, too! Are you planning to scuff the tread ? If so, I'd suggest -as I have done- that you 'paint' the treads with either Tamiya Panel Accent Black and/or Dark Grey. It'll be even more of an improvement. Your 'Vette is coming along nicely!
