From what I understand, the number was much lower than that. The images I've seen indicated a scheduled production date of "08/01 [1971]" , as that was the first day of regular production for the next model year. I first learnt about the 'fabled' 1972 R.R./GTX & Charger Rallye 440+6 back in 1989. At that time, there was only one which was allegedly documented as legitimate: FY1 Top Banana Rallye Charger. Its whereabouts are unknown. Early 1972 literature exhibits the 440 Six Barrel (Plymouth) / Six Pack (Dodge) as an option, and further mentions that that engine was to operated only on premium fuel; its compression was still 10.25:1 (vs. +/- 8.5:1 for the 440 four barrel).

1972 only strobe stripes; 1971 was a different design, but in the same section of the car. IIRC, the standard 400-HP (which was new for 1972; a bored-over 383) didn't receive displacement callouts on the hood 'scoops'. The optional 340 and the top 440 - with standard hood - received the C.I.D. callouts, but not the standard 400.

I don't understand as to why this kit's arrival keeps getting pushed back -- first it was 01/2023, then it was 02/2023, and now it's 03/2023. Chris, @hpiguy, et alia, got his production copy almost two months ago ! Meanwhile, AMT/MPC/Lindberg et al. kits have been announced and have arrived well-ahead of the '68 'Net 'Vert ! The Celt in me is all fired-up... the logical side of me is reminding me to be patient. Typically, the Celt prevails.

ONE bottle of PLEDGE in Prescott !
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I'd rather leave it for someone local to buy it (which is exactly what I did). I was just surprised to see it there; I posted this in hopes that one of our fellow plastic fanatics will go there and buy it. -

My brother-in-law drives to Nevada and Arizona to purchase 'Wet Look' clear coats for his business (repairing delivery damage vehicles and/or used vehicles). The colour coats are available here, but those super glossy clears aren't. -
I was in Prescott, Az., Tues.-Today, buying cleaners and such which stupid California banned or watered-down (brake cleaner, carb cleaner, parts cleaner, and denatured alcohol) -- cheaper tobacco, too. I perchanced to notice a bottle of Pledge Floor Shine kickin' back on the shelf inside the Tru-Value, all by itself, just asking to be taken home. I left it for one lucky local to buy, as I already have two bottles. GET IT WHILE THE GETTIN'S GOOD

Now that the marketing geniuses have dug their talons into every facet of verbiage, they're now called "Preowned Retailers" (now that everything's been embellished with that Pre- rubbish: Pre-Sale, Pre-Order, Pre-Heat, etc., etc.)

I have a copy of the 1971 Petty Belvedere and am overall pleased with it. I love that Salvino's is doing well, and that their fanbase is supporting them. Even though their subject matter doesn't interest me outside of the real Stock Car offerings (more so the 70's Chargers and Belvederes), I applaud their efforts, their offerings. Best of all? They're MADE IN THE U.S.A.

Not to mention the awful windscreen-to-backlight runners which impede the upper leading edge of the windscreen and, to a lesser extent, the backlight. NOT mutually exclusive to this kit, every Revell kit from this era has this issue.

"Twang. I said Twang.", my dad said when referencing Gram Parsons's singing on 'Sin City' from The Flying Burrito Brothers' The Gilded Palace of Sin

A friend/former coworker of mine is the original owner of a 1970 Swinger 340; it was his daily driver from 1970 until at least 2001. It had a hitch on it for decades, having towed boats and motorcycles (independent of each other). Evidence of clamp-on mirrors was on the front fenders from day one (paint was original until he had the car repainted a few years ago). One look at Hamtramck Historical will exhibit Trailer Towing Package options for anything from the "lowly" A-bodies to the battering ram C-bodies.

A 2-in-1 would be the best! Stock 1968 SS-396, with 4-speed and TH-400 (COPO) options, with a vintage S/S option. Heck, throw a 350 in for good measure.

SLEEPING 'Auto Pilot': California Dreamin'
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
That Mrs. Rip Van Winkle will face charges of: - Not maintaining control of their vehicle - Endangerment - D.U.I. (sleepy driving is charged as a DUI here) While I absolutely despise the dumbing down of society via "an-app-will-show-me-what's-really-happening" mindset, the autopilot itself isn't to blame -- the operating instructions are explicit in this regard; motor vehicle codes reflect this. -
I'm so glad to see the 1988 ad seq. C-1500 is coming back. Such a radical truck for its time; a radical design. I bought a vintage 1st issue (sealed inside) a few years ago for around $40; a sealed-inside SS-454 followed for around $55. I recall being kind of surprised at the presence of a manual trans in the kit, esp. of late-1980's vintage.
