Moebius Ford 4x4
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Pat... that Chevrolet looks fantastic. Very clean build. Dennis.. there is room in the front and rear springs to glue it right. The springs are sitting loose on the axles. I could tap it and it would move too far forward as well. It still has to be disassembled, and the springs washed before priming. Yea, the completed truck looks like a regular ole pick up... lol. But that’s what we modelers do... improve. I still might replace the rear bumper as well. It kind of looks generic to me. Thanks for the replies. -

I finally got the body parts cleared, sanded, and polished. Got the resin springs sanded, cut, so the height looks good. I lucked out with the windshield problems Ray encountered. A few complaints about this kit....NO cab lights!! And the hood decals (pic) will be from another Ford truck, as will a set of cab lights. The supplied decals for the hood are ridiculously too big. They will however look decent on the tailgate. I think Moebius missed the mark on this one, with the wheels, tires, suspension, cab lights, decals. It is a nice kit, but maybe some different box art representing the actual kit inside. Just a quick mock up to check ride height. It’s not going to be a correct 3/4 truck. I used the kit supplied axles. Just wanted it to look like the box. Maybe when Fireball comes out with the conversion, I’ll build another. Undecided. Shock absorbers will be scratch built using two sizes of aluminum tubing. -
Every time some legit decals are posted on eBay, this teresawulf steals the design, and sells them. And the quality is terrible. The dummy can’t even reproduce them correctly. A few people that do decals will not even sell on eBay anymore because of this seller. Maybe a watermark of some sort, to make your decals not worth copying by this thief?

I test fitted my windshield, and after a couple tries, I got it in. Maybe I got one of the better cabs? I didn’t need to modify it, it slipped in pretty easy. -

I just bought a bunch of Holley carbs from him. Joseph is the best!! I bought my leafs from BNL resins. After cutting the blocks (monster truck) off right to the leaf spring, I still have to go a bit more, as the truck will still sit too high. BNL parts look great, and they really don’t seem like it will be too complicated to get it to sit right. Once it’s all set, it’s time to build some longer shock absorbers. -

What problems did you run into? -

No extra details like the ignition system and battery cables. Just wanted to do it out of the box. After the air cleaner “390” decal, and the Fram oil filter decal, this engine is done. -

There is a lot of plastic in this kit. I used up an whole can of Tamiya maroon painting it. Decided to go with a black rubber floor, and tan interior trim. I plan on clearing it in a few more days. -
I have the 56 and 57 in my stash. I always thought that the 56 was a better looking car overall, especially the front headlights. I can’t wait to see that mango and pearl white paint.

Looking awesome so far. The stance is perfect!!! Paint looks fantastic. I just bought mine a few weeks ago. Could you show some underhood pics??? I built the red Dyno Don car from the first Moebius kit, with some hacking to fit the Cammer.

A Firebird Formula that I sold about 9 years ago. It had an EFI SBC... that I tuned myself, Auto, Ford 9 inch rear, ice cold A/C and it ran low 11’s at 120 MPH.

Welcome to the forum, from one PA person to another!

Looking real nice. I love this kit. I just bought the last two Hobby Lobby had today. These kits are getting harder to find lately. Did the clear pieces ever arrive? Any more progress?

I used decals from two extra different sets I had, and it looks A LOT better. I just have to find a small “autolite” ball that goes below the Zimmy Il on the front lower quarter. I think I have one on a Slixx sheet somewhere. Thanks for the offer Bill, I appreciate it.

Decals look horrible. They are old and it shows. Even after setting solution they won’t cut it. Going to remove them and seek another set of decals.

Thanks for the kind words everyone... I appreciate it!

I know your love of the thunderbolts, Bill. This is the last one for me. My goal was to build all of the kits I had and use up all the decals. Soon I’m going to get a group pic of them all. I have a few other cars in the bench that I’m looking forward to finishing. These darn Bolts always get me side tracked. I enjoy seeing your Bolts.

Thanks.....I’m going to use the kit decals on this one.

The Tasca car is cast in burgundy, and the Gas Ronda Russ Davis car is cast in orange like color that is suppose to resemble the “Poppy Red” that was on the real car. The SS limited edition, in the plain white box, is cast in white, but the chrome has a satin finish instead of shiny chrome. All of the other kits are white as far as I know.
