  1. Thanks for the advice Charles. It’s been sitting for a few days now, as I’m working on like 7 other cars. I might knock the primer down, and get some color on it tomorrow.
  2. Yes, me too. The plans for this is a Pacific Green metallic, which is pretty dark, black interior, R Code, with redline tires, and 66 Fairlane 427 hubcaps. Except this car will have the factory hood scoop.
  3. Marcos, love them all, ESPECIALLY the Super Bee. I’ve read your article on this Mopar build about 10 times now. I also ordered the wheel kit from Joseph for my Super Bee build.
  4. That Pearl Green really looks good on this car. Nice build! I salute anyone that can make this kit look anywhere near halfway decent, as many members have. I too am waiting to see if a new 69 becomes available.
  5. The body looks fantastic. Final assembly right around the corner!
  6. I’ll stick with the Tamiya as a base, unless I have any problems. Thanks again for sharing your technique.
  7. The only time I applied Future was as a clear. I really didn’t like how it looked. Did I put enough on ? Not sure but I watched a video on YouTube, and brushed it on as instructed. The car was painted silver lacquer. I think spray clear looks better. I have a full bottle of Future on the shelf just sitting. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime on a quick build that’s a different color.
  8. The Galaxie and Mustang were primed with Tamiya primer, and shot with Duplicolor paint and clear. Then polished with micro mesh.
  9. It’s a bit darker than the other grays I’ve used.
  10. I have a full can of that. Like I said, I’ve laid down some nice paint in the past using Duplicolor. Just the last three paint jobs were not laying down for me. Just laid down four light coats on the 65 Ford Galaxie. I went right over the Tamiya primer. Looks pretty good so far.
  11. Steve, what clear do you use.?
  12. I posted something that I didn’t need to post, if I only read the thread more carefully.
  13. You did a very nice job. I’d be very proud to call that my build. First completed model you say? Lol. Could have fooled me. And little things like the bumper you mentioned. We ALL learn something new from our previous works, no matter how long we’ve been building. I look forward to seeing some more builds. Very nice, and clean looking Chevelle.
  14. This build is coming along very nice. I really like the use of the white vinyl interior pieces. The body color that you chose, and that interior color are a perfect match. I just ordered some redline tires, and some other Mopar tires, and rims from Joseph. I held off ordering the M/T tires you are using. But I am definitely going to be getting a set after seeing them on your Poncho. Could you show a pic of the suspension showing what you did to fit the rear M/T tires?
  15. Thanks again, Steve. That’s great advice, as I already have some bodies already sprayed with Tamiya primer. I’ve never tried Testors. I already have the Duplicolor red oxide can. I was using that for the underside of some of my Ford build, Thunderbolts etc. I like the larger less expensive can, as compared to Tamiya primer size and cost. After seeing your paint jobs, I’ll definitely be putting your suggestions to good use.
  16. I also dry brushed the emblems on this Fairlane. I masked it off as close as I can with Tamiya tape, then dry brushed some Chrome Silver enamel on. It’s not easy to see, with the light blue, but it looks pretty good. I want to try it on a darker color car.
  17. I can’t wait to see that 67 Ford completed. I did this once or twice on a couple builds. Here is a R/T emblem.
  18. Very nice Mopar. That color is beautiful, and laid on nice. I love those redline tires.
  19. Thanks for the advice Steve. I must have had a good luck streak using the primers I was using, up until now, my luck ran out. Then factor in the quality of plastics now, was just a recipe for disaster. Made a trip to the store today, and grabbed some Duplicolor primers. I’ll be testing these on some of the many Starliner extra bodies I have lying around. Thsnks everyone... I appreciate all of the input.
  20. Yea, that’s what I’m gonna be using from now on.
  21. Thanks Bill. I do have Pastikote gray and white primer. I’ve never had any problems with the Tamiya primer until now, and the last two paint jobs, that I used Duplicolor over. Im going to use the plastikote next time, but I’m still going to pick up the Duplicolor primer like Steven suggested. It seems there like there are a few things working against me. Gotta just weed out the problems. I like Duplicolor because of the many color choices, and I don’t have an airbrush.
  22. Well, Ace I did like you said, and it worked. After sanding, and re spraying, it laid down much better. You actually have to look at an angle to see the crazing. Looks good straight on. I’m going to hit it with clear in s few days, to see how it looks.
  23. Thanks for all of the corrective suggestions everyone. I put the Ford away for now, and started at the Mopars. As Ace stated, it’s like a big surprise anymore when you paint. I didn’t stray from the steps I normally use when I paint. Some of my nicest paint jobs were done with Duplicolor. This AMT kit could very well be a cheaper repop. It’s not from the box with the burgundy box, but the newer stock car version. But lately Duplicolor has been acting funny every time I go to use it. Steven, I was going to pick up a can of the Duplicolor sealer, and primer the other day. I didn’t buy them because what I was using WAS working. Maybe the primer I laid down is too thin, and it started attacking underneath. Im going to sand the trunk down, hit it with a few more very light coats, and see what happens. I’m definitely going to add the Duplicolor sealer and primer to my shipping list. Patrick, the can was shaken very well, and was warmed up also.
  24. I sprayed this trunk lid inside. I have a hygrometer in my paint area so I know what the RH is. I’ve never had weird shapes come through the paint like this. Especially when the primer coat looked flawless.
