  1. The actual mock up.
  2. I have not worked on the Biscayne for a while, but started to get some things done this weekend. Mostly getting it all mocked up with the chassis and resin interior tub. I have to ger some red ribbon, or some material for some seat belts, and I still have to finish and detail the engine. Also the vacuum formed glass is all trimmed up to fit. At least I have an idea what it should look like overall. Getting pretty sick and tired everytime I go to buy Tamiya paint...the Government, has to pe a PITA with their labeling guidelines....So, I had to buy some Rustolem Apple Red paint, that is real close to the Tamiya Italian Red, for the interior, and some Rustolem Black Lacquer for the body. I really am thinking about just waiting until March to get the Tamiya Black for the body, though.
  3. Nice Job!!! One of the nicest models I've seen!!!
  4. A guy that is a back door reciever at one of the stores I service, had two complete AMT Bel Air kits, he bought a while back. He does not build models. He said he has three, and is looking for the third. He gave the two he found to me, if I could build one for him. A lot of great parts in these kits!!!! He wanted nothing fancy like wires or plumbing, but, for it to look like it does on the box. This build took three days to build, and I took a couple of pics, before giving it to him.
  5. Those 60 era Impalas, Bel Airs etc, were some of the coolest cars ever to grace the dragstrips. Beautiful job on the car, and a nice informative introduction also, Clifford!!! I am currently getting back into a, what was originally, a 63 Bel Air "Mystery Motor" Profitt car build. That was until I ruined the resin body, now, since I have the decals, I might either do a Profitt Impala, or just get a new set of decals, and possibly do a Sox Sinclair Service car. I am beginning to wonder...How many Chevrolets did Hayden Profitt run in those days???
  6. Can you say "EYE CANDY"....Top notch modeling here!!!
  7. It looks like the valve covers are upside down.
  8. Yes Mike. Except the roll bar will be "slightly" different. I already removed the radio, and knobs from the dash, that will be replaced with a "biscayne" decal, just like the 1:1 cars interior. I still have to dig up some red seat belt material. I would like to find a plain jane steering wheel as well, as I only have the, fancy, Impala wheel, now. I just might be out of luck on that one though!
  9. I found another pic of the car. Trying to get it to sit like it is in this pic. I know most of the early sixties drag cars sat high. I even have some resin parts lying around with the front suspension pieces for that mod. From what I gather, the current owner must have had this car restored, with a different engine, and possibly changed the way it sat in the front. I do think this is a 'tribute" car, now that it is no longer original. If anyone knows ANYTHING about this car, they can chime in. When I saw a pic of it on Lucas Decals' site, I really wanted to build it. Actually I was thinking of another 63 as well, but decided to do this one.
  10. Thanks!! The rims are from "Scenes Unlimited"...on Ebay.
  11. Played around with the rims I wanted to use to begin with. Did not hack the wheel tubs, but sanded down the rear perches a bit. For the front, after using two short metal axles in the kingpins, and sanding the wheel backs real thin, its all looking better now, I think. The wider rims look WAY better...IMO.
  12. Yea Matt, I was actually thinking the same thing. I was playing around with the wheels for a bit, and I think I will take the tops of the rear wheel tubs off and get it to sit a bit lower. Actually, I wanted to go with these wider rims (pic) all together. This is the Impala body I used for mock up, while the resin was soaking. The rears would fit, but the fronts would stick out no matter how much I sanded the wheel backs down. It just did not look right, but they WOULD look MUCH more like the rims on the 1:1 car. I even planned on adding the rim screws in the rears. On the Impala mock up, the fronts are just sitting there with NO backs. I dunno....maybe I can do some thing with these wider rims on the front, so I can use them as I had planned.
  13. Thanks guys....Here is a bit of info on this car. http://www.superchev..._427/index.html
  14. Here is the nice decals that I bought from Lucas Decals. I should be priming and sanding soon!!
  15. Here is a better pic or two.
  16. I added a roll bar from a Revell Thunderbird I had lying around. Just have to lengthen the main hoop bars so they actually touch the floors.
  17. Then a quick mock up of the rims and tires. Just a little sanding with the Dremel on the rear wheel wells to fit the larger slicks.
  18. Here is the kit after soaking. I also got a set of headers, and intake for the Z-11's from MCW.
  19. I was thinking about doing a build of the "Sox and Sinclair Service 63 Impala, and then decided to build the mystery motor 427 car instead. I am using a MCW resin kit, and a Revell 2 in 1 kit mostly for the chassis, dash, etc. Decals are from Lucas. I have an old Revell 427 Yenko engine lying around that will be built, and used to resemble the 427 in the real car. So far I gave it Bleech White bath, and started mocking up the wheels, and tires, interior with the roll bar. I should be getting everything in primer, in the next day or two. I am taking my last vacation for the year from my job next week, and I plan on getting a lot done on it.
  20. That is exactly the same reason I would by one...for use with Alclad, and metalizers. FWIW.. currently I am using Alclad out of a spray can, and my colors are very limited to just ONE....but it does work great when applied to stripped bumpers and grill that are way too shiny.
  21. OK, here is the plan. I ordered a 1963 Biscayne resin body from MCW, and decals from Lucas. I already have a nice set of deep "steel wheels", and a few big blocks laying around, to build Hayden Proffitt's, black on red Z-33 "Mystery Motor" car. I plan on using the Revell's 63 kit for the suspension, tail lights and other odds and ends. I might hold off on the Revell kit, because I have a few 61, and 62 chassis lying around. If one of these can work, I will not even need the Revell kit. Does anyone know if the Lindburg 61, or AMT 62 chassis is similar in design to the Revell 63 chassis?? I am not worried about the fit as much as it looking like a REAL 63 chassis.
  22. I checked ALL boxes in my profile....now let's see if I can finally receive notifications???
  23. Can't wait to see this completed.....looks beautiful thus far!!
  24. Man...that chassis looks GREAT!! I love the looks of that exhaust with the FlowMasters.
  25. You said a mouthful right here! I think my Ebay browsing days are done! It's to the point where I see an item, and before even clicking on it, I KNOW who is selling it, just by the expensive price.
