Some unreal Ebay prices.
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yea Dave...I think we are on the same page. Not only the wheels, but a body, seats, engine, all from one kit, and all for about the same prices I mentioned. By the time you total them up, its like 96.00 that i can "buy it now" from another seller for around 23.00 shipped. -
I was just browsing on Ebay, trying to find some cool wheels, to add to my parts bin. I always take a look on the site hoping to find 60's era slotted mags....but anyway, there is one seller on there, who is asking RIDICULOUS prices for stuff that is parted out of kits. For example...they will take the four rims and tires from a kit, then have a "buy it now" for 23.99, with a 4.99 shipping charge, then say they WILL NOT combine shipping to boot. You can buy two complete kits for that price! I do understand that "there is a sucker born every minute", and no one is forced into buying anything, but, how can someone actually get buyers for this stuff???? I look at at the feedback, and people indeed DO buy this stuff. I totally understand that there are hard to find parts for our projects, but this stuff is out there in inexpensive readily available kits......I dunno...just thought I would post this...and I do understand, if "you do not agree with the price, don't buy it".

1963 Impala Question
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, Dave..I do have a lot of 409- 427 "W" stuff in my parts bin, plus a few things I bought from MCW. I plan on buying the decals from Lucas. Roger made a good point, as I see a few of the 63s built up, and they do look a bit weird, especially the headlight, and tail light areas. The S/S kits out there are not that expensive, and I already DO have a 63 AMT kit. Maybe this will be the way to go. The only thing with the AMT kit, is, the lights look weird also. -
1963 Impala Question
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Art...I just wanted to know before I got a Revell, and was disappointed with it. I will look into the 64 as well....Thanks Ed -
I was considering building the Ronnie Sox / Larry Wilson 63 Impala. Now, I already have the old AMT straight metal axle kit, but, I was wondering, if the Revell 63 kit is overall a better kit? Preferably with a better detailed chassis, without all of the suspension molded in? Thanks.......: )

That is one build to be proud of. Great engine details, for not being "superdetailed". I love the drag cars of that era.

Flooding! Update with Pics.....9/16/11
Brutalform replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good Luck Bill.....You and many others are in our prayers!!! Right here in Wilkes Barre, the river crest was actually wrong. It crested at over 42.6 ft....over the crest of Agnes. There is only minor flooding here in the city, as the levees are over stressed now. We are crossing our fingers, though, as we are not out of the woods yet. Some water is getting past the gates on Market St, and in Forty Fort as well. This widespread flooding has hit a lot of my friends and customers. It makes me get a sick feeling to know all of the devastation, everyone, and yourself is experiencing. I hope your part of the boro stays above the water. I am in disbelief over the news on TV, that I have been watching for the last 30 hours or so. When you get back to your house, try to mentally prepare yourself for what you may find. Try to keep your head high, and be thankful you have your health. God Bless, you Bill...and also the flood victims in the 40 counties this has affected. -
Very nice build!! I love those 60s era NASCARS. I especially like the details on the tires, and the stance with the rear "slightly" higher. Nice Model!!!!
-
Yes it is a Lindburg. The tires are Pro Sportsmans, and the wheels are from a Pro Stock kit, according to plowboy. I just saw them on Ebay, and got them pretty cheap. The chassis is a resin piece molded by Porky.

Very nice "King Of The Road"!! Nice engine details. Everything looks right on to me

Thanks for the comments/input everyone!!!!

Real nice pics Dave!!! I remember you posting that it had the Weld rims and all. I also notice it now has two cut outs in the grill for fresh air, and the T-Bolt style "teardrop" hood!! Sweet car. If I am not mistaken, that car recently sold, or was being sold, on Mecum Auctions. I wonder if it sold, and for how much? Thanks for the kind remarks everyone, and thanks Dave for the killer pic.

Simply Amazing Build!!!! I like the mix of oil and rust under the engines frame. I would say I can't wait to see your pro street version!! -
My recent build. A 61 409 with Pro Street Meats.

And a few more......
-
I started this build a few months ago, and it started out as a grey colored Impala. Until I spilled some acetone, and ruined the paint, and a part of the body, I changed it to Tamiya # TS-8 Italian Red, and Testors One Coat Lacquer Clear. Its pretty much a out of box build, with the exception of the resin chassis molded by Porky. The 409 resin headers are from MCW. I saw the tires and rims on Ebay a while back, and got them for a nice price. I don't know what they are for though. I was pleased with the way it came out, and besides the acetone, I enjoyed the build. Thanks for looking!!!
-
Finally its finished! The only thing I wish I had done, was to add a set of ignition wires, but this is the way it will stay. When I started this build, I really only wanted a factory look, "tubbed", Impala. I am very pleased with the way it came out. I think this is my best effort so far. I get a lot of tips from magazines, mostly by Clay Kemp. I never thought about using Testors Clear Parts Window Maker cement for door handles, and mirrors, tail lights, and the like. But after thumbing through a few issues with Clays builds, particularly his write up on a Surf Green 57 Chevrolet, his first build of The Black Widow kit, I learned a few things. I am posting some better pics on the Under Glass board. Thanks for looking!!

Making Decal Question
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks a bunch Richard..I will do that!!! -
I have a vintage decal, that I am sure that as soon as it hits the water, it will be ruined. I am looking for decal paper, so I can scan it, and reprint it. I have looked in Office Max, and Staples, but I cant find any, or the people there do not even know if they carry it. Any brand name, or where I can find it???? I am using an inkjet printer by the way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
