New Park Pizza is great stuff! Now a days I like La Villa on 153rd Avenue, it's just a couple of blocks away. -
1/25 Police/Fire/Ambulance Red Beacon Light?
crowe-t replied to crowe-t's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks guys! Joe - the parts from Custom Squads look like what I need. BTW I'm close to where you are, I'm in Howard Beach, NY. Mike. -
I tried Future on a small chrome part and it works very nice. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone spray Future over chrome parts to protect the chrome? A friend suggested it but is it any good to do?

Greg, I have gone to the paintref, com web site. The Ambulance I'm building is one from the Schaefer Ambulance Service. Schaefer used a GM special order color called 'Root Beer Matallic' that doesn't appear on any of the paint chip pages. I learned of this from the Pofessional Car Society forum. I've been unable to locate the paint code for 'Root Beer Matallic' so I'm trying to pick a color that's era correct and close enough. So far 1970 Cadillac Briarwood Firemist Metallic, 1966 Cadillac Autumn Rust Metallic and 1970 Chevrolet Classis Copper look close. Right now I'm leaning towards 1970 Cadillac Briarwood Firemist Metallic but I'm still trying to find a good picture showing 1966 Cadillac Autumn Rust Metallic.

Thanks Harry for adjusting that picture. I'm trying to match a brown color to this 1964 Cadillac Ambulance in these 2 pictures below. I found these pictures of a 1970 Cadillac in Briarwood Firemist Metallic that looks close. Someone mentioned 1966 Cadillac Autumn Rust Metallic. The color chips that are scanned on the Autocolorlibrary.com seem to show the colors a bit darker than they should. I lightened the 1966 Cadillac color chip a bit but would like to see some good pictures of this color on an actual car in good daylight.

Modelhaus going, going Gone !!!!!!
crowe-t replied to WoodyRDC's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
How is the quality of the resin chrome plated parts Modelhaus sells? I'm concerned with chrome plating on resin parts in general. Is it at least as sturdy as on styrene parts? -
AMT Ecto 1A to be re-released?
crowe-t replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks Jon! However I'm interested in one to build as something other than the Ecto 1. I should have asked if the main parts, body, chassis, interior, windows... were the same or different. I like the stock rear bumper in the Polar Lights kit and am trying to figure out if that's a good enough reason to get the Polar Lights kit instead of the AMT. -
mikemodeler is a great guy to deal with!

AMT Ecto 1A to be re-released?
crowe-t replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
What are the main differences between the AMT and Polar Lights Ecto-1 kits? -
Other than the rear roof up-rights the rest of the Jo-Han 66 Ambulance isn't usable. It doesn't have the wrap around windshield. It still looks like the best option is to combine the AMT Ghostbusters and the Jo-Han 64 Cadillac kits and scratch build the high-top. There is a German and French release of the Misfits Of Science on DVD. Both sets have English audio as an option but are in the European PAL video format. I'm able to watch them on my computer using 3rd party video player software from VLC. I understand now. Thanks for clearing that up.

I'd have to combine the Jo-Han 1964 body's front end and hood as well as the tail lights with either the Ghostbusters body or the Jimmy Flintstone body. I think using a styrene body(Ghostbusters) will be easier. The hi top on the Jimmy Flintstone body isn't the same as in the pictures I posted above so I can scratch build that. I contacted both Schaefer Ambulance and the Professional Car Society regarding the color. I'll let you know what I find.

There was a TV show on NBC in 1985 called Misfits Of Science. In the opening scene of the pilot episode there was an old Cadillac Ambulance. I attached some screen shots. Can anyone tell me what year this Cadillac is? It looks like it's a Schaefer Ambulance. Does anyone know what paint/color was used for the lower red-ish color? The AMT Ghostbusters Ecto-1 kit looks very similar to this ambulance in the screen shots. The tail lights are different. Does anyone know of another kit I can use to build this ambulance or is the Ghostbusters kit the way to go?

I agree, that's a lot of superglue. It's harder than the styrene and can get brittle. When I build mine I plan on using sheet styrene and putty to fix the front fender openings. Mark - Do you have a build thread of your 56?

Good Airbrush/needle size for spraying lacquer???
crowe-t replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks again Pete for all your input! I'll most likely pick up the .5 mm needle and I'll continue to try different paints and see what works best.
